Inventor Flint Lockwood creates a machine that makes clouds rain food, enabling the down-and-out citizens of Chewandswallow to feed themselves. @@mishtaromaniello8295in the book, the grandpa’s story to his kids doesn’t explain how the food fell from the sky, however this movie shows us the answer with Flint’s invention.

Epic is a fun movie from blue pictures animation .
Besides the machine producing mutated food later on, and the people's growing demands especially the mayor's, the one thing I can think of the machine can do is that it can end world hunger. Virtually no one in the world would ever go hungry again, even the poorest of countries would be virtually abundant with food. It would be one less problem for the world to solve, guaranteed nobel prize! Of course, this is all just theory but it would be cool!

This honestly would have worked out if they only had one or two meals a day
If I made that machine I would probably have it do something different, instead of turning water in the food it would turn pollution and waste into food, it would be like a recycling machine because it would suck the excessive carbon dioxide that's causing global warming out of the atmosphere
Essentially,my personal headcanon for the FLDSMDFR here is actually that the aforementioned Hydrogenetic Mutation principle that Flint based off of probably has and/or had some different variations of it that,while probably and technically untested/understudied in practical (i.e. real-life/real-time tested in the field here) terms but had been proven on paper,one variant of it could've been used for cloud seeding and air/atmospheric pollutant control-The possible reason of how and where he'd heard and learned about it is that he might've had previously been taught by an ACTUAL well-known and established scientist and their protogè as one of his Teachers/Professors and TA Previously when and while they were in Swallow Falls due to a potential worry of a/the lack of Jobs in-town,a potential Brain-drain regarding this issue and a Teachers' shortage by the time that Flint was in his Post-secondary education studies (I.e. Community College-and-Trade School days) of his, alongside some of his other Post-secondary education qualifications and/or his time between each working for the local Sardinni's diner,his Dad's Tackle shop and his inventing/scientific research and/or endeavours here, honestly-and the one that Flint probably used for his infamous Machine here was probably the ONLY one that hadn't been able to be tested efficiently here yet,so he could've at least TRIED to see if it worked here regardless here,honestly-and Also,I do think/believe that the machine both cleaned the atmosphere by suckihg whatever pollutants and other nutrients into the device so it could've been Transmorgified into the Food rain later on AND effectively cleared the air of anything bad that had been floating around in it as well here,honestly..
TL;DR: _Yeah, I agree with you here dude-The possibly of the FLDSMDFR supposedly clearing the atmosphere of any nasty pollutants and whatnot could've obviously been one of the possible effects of the principle of Hydrogenetic Mutation is plausible here, assuming there's a variant devoted to essentially Cloud seeding/Pollution control and whichever untested-and/or-semi-tested version that FLINT LOCKWOOD had used for his own Machine itself must've been a more sophisticated kind/version of the Principle he used..that,and it probably HAD cleaned up the Earth's atmosphere/stratsophere in the process somewhere off-screen,as some people would've noticed later on that the atmospheric pollutant emissions around Swallow Falls (and the rest of the world after the Foodstorm) would've either diminished and/or probably disappeared over a month/month-and-a-Half chronologically-speaking of course, HONESTLY-And Also Flint DEFINITELY learned that from an established scientist and their equally estabilshed assistant as his professor/TA back in his Community College-and-Trade School days here, regardless honestly.._

@@soramembrino82 It is green actually. Most people are actually very uninformed about nuclear waste. Most waste is actually not very dangerous at all. Often less than what you'd experience on an airplane flight. Unfortunately, media has a nasty habit of making nuclear waste seem a bigger problem than it actually is. I used to think it was bad but after learning about it, you realize that any danger is almost nonexistent.
And even more exciting, nuclear fusion and cold fusion are by far the best, safest, cheapest, and cleanest ways of free energy, and have already been tested on full scale.
