Really like the color and body style, pu's sound tight no muddy sounds, the body shape is the same as the PRS MIRA, but a couple hundred cheaper. Good review!

A buddy of mine CCJmusic a fellow youtuber in out community told me I might like this over a LP style considering the kind of weird music I make. He is buying one and has one already. I think this seals the deal for me. Thank you. I gave you a friendly sub brother. See you on the tube!
PS, I mainly want this style to explore the darker Warmer tones and the David Gilmour Brink in the wall solo he uses a killer gold top and those even on epihone are too pricey yet for me. Hahah. Thanks again

I have this guitar in metallic forest green. My local guitar store had this guitar for $199.95. I traded and old amp and some country records even for the guitar.

I got this guitar Candy Apple Red about a year and a half ago. Mine has the regular tailpiece. The body feels and looks very nice. I like the maple neck even though it has a scarf joint.
Immediate things that I had to do:
    - The G and B strings sounded dull when open. All strings were sharp on the first few frets because of a high nut action. Replaced the nut with a Graphtech Black TUSQ XL PT-6643-00 43x6. Length and width were OK. Had to sand about 3 mm from the height. Once that was done I didn't have to touch the string slots.
    - Most frets were kind of sharp at the ends. Also there were rough. Touched up the frets ends. Did a good fret polish.
    - Complete neck setup (relief, string action).
Over the next few days I have more work lined up:
    - Both pickups are microphonic (sounds like they are not wax potted). Will replace them with DragonFire Gate Busters.
    - Replace the tuning machines with Gotoh Locking machines.
    - The control cavity is very poorly painted with the conductive paint. Will clean up the surfaces to make them smooth and shield with copper tape. May also shield the pickup cavities but that's not necessary since the pickups themselves are well shielded.
    - The potentiometers are junk. Will replace them with 2 regular CTS pots for tone and 2 CTS DPDT pots for volume. Will wire the pickups probably for coil splitting and out of phase.
    - Will replace the junk switch with a Switchcraft switch.
    - Internal wiring will be done with shielded cable.
    - Will replace the bridge with a Golden Age roller bridge. I am trying to avoid pulling the existing bridge anchors from the body so I will have to adapt the M5 posts from the Golden Age roller bridge to the M8 anchors from the existing bridge.

I got mine from AMS too. Mine needed the truss rod cranked a little (a friend who knows did it) I thought I had a bum fretboard. I think mine might be th treated NZ pine fretboard. Got mine for $169. I think the blem was on the 22 fretboard on the E 1st string.

I got the metallic forest green model of this delivered to my house for $212 with no shipping and handling. I swapped out the knobs for sparkly green ones because it has a sparkle green finish. It looks like something Mark Nolan from T-Rex would play. It's got a nice thick neck it's a really good rhythm hard rock guitar. And I can still play leads on it it's not impossible but you can't do Mr shredder guy stuff.

Is this guitar more like an SG or Les Paul?

    • @Nov95
      @Nov95  ปีที่แล้ว

It has a similar body style to an SG. It's very warm sounding and bassy, like a Les Paul. I would say its like a mixture of the two. Similar knob and tone location, 2 piece bridge, 3 way toggle switch. its light weight like an SG. I wouldn't understand why an SG fan wouldn't like the AX120, very similar to each other...besides price points. So to answer your question, I would say the AX120 is more like an SG than a Les Paul.
