Love love love watching someone else's lesson. I think it helps tremendously to see and hear the learning process - the good, the not so good and the corrections. Really great video. 🐴💕🐴
Thank you for share, the rider was great.. realistic too so many out there and your husband should do this more often. Watch someone's lesson is so informative especially if it doesn't look perfect because riding is hardly ever so, but professional make it look so ...
More with this Trainer!!! I appreciate his education in getting this horses head and neck/poll up. Too many people ride their horses too low IMHO. The forehand will never be light until the poll raises. Over bent necks really dont help our pursuit of self carriage. Loved this video.
Great video! I appreciate that you show a common issue in riding circles, when the horse ducks down and behind the bit, unbalancing himself, and disengaging his hind end, and that with some minor rider positioning changes and encouraging him forward, we see him reengage, rebalance, and start moving "uphill." Too often, we see over-edited videos that only show the more perfect moments of what we're trying to achieve, and not the work we put in to achieve those "aha moments" as I call them. I also really like the slow-motion replays so we see the corrected movement again. Very informative and helpful!
I like the markers in pairs, so helpful to the eye. German's instruction so clear and encouraging and I'd like to see more of his teaching. You make a great team!
I regularly use cones and ground poles for focus and shape of movements. I set up a court using cool looking lime green traffic safety cones on which I painted bold black block letters. To make setup easier after grooming, I also sprayed painted small subtle hash marks on the inside of the arena rails which designates 20 meter circle touch points and letter locations. Love your guidance and the videos with your husband (and his infectious enthusiasm) are a special treat. Still an egg scrambler here in Carlisle PA.
Very Helpful with the detailed explanation what to do with your hands and how to set it up. Looks like it may be fun to work from the ground as well to develop connection and warm up.
Loved this video! Your husband is a wonderful teacher! What a phenomenal couple you 2 make! Infact, having learnt about your Mother, Amelia, & your brother, I reckon you're in powerhouse dressage, & equine-devoted company! What a great collection of knowledge, skills & motivation you're amongst on a daily basis! Really beneficial tips, thankyou for sharing, once again ❤️🐎🙏
Thank you to both the rider and trainer! Watching someone’s lesson is really helpful. Please have more lessons with your husband. It’s always good to hear slightly different ways of explaining something. ❤❤
The cones! That's really useful because I can also use them to set out an accurate 15 m circle. Interesting watching the quality of the trot change. Very helpful video - thanks.
Oh my goodness! This is sounds like my recent lessons, especially the hand position part! It's so helpful to SEE what we are striving to achieve and the results. Thank you for your hard work and these videos!
Hi Amelia, loved watching this I'm definitely going to try this in the morning..... Your husband has such a lovely way of teaching, I wished you both lived in England I would definitely book you as my trainers each week !! Xxx🐴🤗💕
Great seeing you guys working together. Cones are so valuable in training even in the dressage arena. Very helpful with straightness keeping you and your horse on the correct tract. Absolutely a constant reminder to maintain the bend and contact. Thanks for sharing.
thank you! I do have access to a dressage arena but I have to trailer in to it (it is owned and operated by my HOA so thankfully I have NO trailer in fees), but during the week when the daylight hours are short, I only have time to ride in my smaller yard so this cone idea will help me set up a 20 meter circle and work with that. Thank you for these videos! Eileen Cunningham
Thank you Amelia. This was super interesting because I struggle to find accuracy in the circle and the cones are clearly such a helpful aide (and something I’ve not used). I will watch this vlog again and again because the adjustments demonstrated are so subtle. Your husband (does he ever coach you or is it a bit like learning to drive - go with an independent coach otherwise things get complicated?!?) explains the intricacies so well (e.g. wrist verses whole arm giving the signal down the rein) - it’s detail I’ve not heard before and also very horse centric. Dressage is beautiful but so multifaceted! Even at my basic level!
What providence to see this video lesson today - this was already my lesson plan for today! I got a set of cones from the sporting goods store, but wasn’t sure about the easiest way to measure out the circle - thanks for the demo! My horse is totally new / green so if we get anything even resembling a roundish circle it will be a great start!
This helped a lot, I had just measured out my 20m circle and marked with single cones. I will be adding a second cone now after seeing this video. It was so good to actually see what your husband was looking for in the "trot". The wrist, elbow & rein length instruction was invaluable, amazing to see the change in the horses frame with the right rider adjustments. Good camera work Amelia 😉
Loved this video. My goodness the cone set up is so simple...why don't I think of these things??? LOL Thank you for filming this, it was very helpful. I expect I'll be watching it more than once!
Very interesting video. I made a dressage ring in a paddock. My husband mowed it down low to make it easy to work in. I have gaited horses and use the exercises to help to get the horse soft and supple. I have done a couple of Gaited Dressage tests with a horse that has passed on. Now I'm beginning the undersaddle work with my soon to be 5 year old Rocky Mountain Horse. Thanks for all the patterns as well.
Amazing , i will try it with my horse❤
Love love love watching someone else's lesson. I think it helps tremendously to see and hear the learning process - the good, the not so good and the corrections. Really great video. 🐴💕🐴
You are so welcome!
Great Video German and Amelia. Thanks so much!
I love this and can't wait to try it.

Thanks for the feedback! We do a lot more of this in my online courses and masterclasses! But I'll try to incorporate more in our weekly videos.

Thank you!! I will make sure he knows!
LOVELY!! Beautiful horse and rider. I particularly liked him addressing the curling behind the bit as that is my problem too.
Thank you!
Love the real lesson, would love more of these !
Love this! Learned so much from watching the lesson! TY!
Super teaching! Thank you to the rider! I’m going to set this up in the “no-rena” I use.

From where did you order ?
Great exercise, thanks
I don't have a dressage court but I use cones to make a rectangle now I will use the technique from German to improve my geometry !
