at the time of the Gandhara and the images being represented of Dipankara Buddha India was not a Hindu country, Brahmanical Hinduism has not yet developed in India it will not till the 6th -7th C ad from south to west and at last towards the east in 11 the century and at the time when these representations were popular India was predominantly a Buddhist country, with centers like Nagarjunakonda, Sarnath, Mathura, Sanchi, Ajanta, Ellora, Gaya, etc throughout the country, it is not until the rise of Chalukyas we see, Hinduism Gaining power.
