I love your videos but as an Greek man from Athens let me say that the most places you ve visited so far are tourist traps. Especially Diporto which has nothing to do with the quality standards of Greek food. If you want to eat real greek food you have to visit some other areas away from the historical centre of Athens. Pagrati Petralona and Exarcheia are the most the most valuable places for good food. I recommend you those places: "Aster" in Petralona for marvelous meatballs, "Ouzeri Lesvos" in Exarcheia for shrimp saganaki, "Dickie Dee" for the best soft ice cream of Athens, "Grannys meatballs" in Pagrati, "Marrika Tarts" for amazing lemon pie , "Nancys sweet Home" for old traditional sweets.

It's so refreshing to see a culture that celebrates vegetables so much. That breakfast meal looked so appealing and so different from meat/carb heavy breakfasts in North America.
Greeks eat lots of vegetables dishes its true but this is not breakfast food. We take little breakfast actually, koulouria, small cake, toast, maybe yoghurt not a lot

I was in Greece last week and because of these videos, we decided to try the pork chops and grilled salad at Telis Steakhouse and it did not disappoint!! It was soooo good and our first meal to kick off our trip.
Tavernas like Diporto are called koutoukia or koutouki in singular form, many of which are styled like that because they're actually open since early to middle 20th century, or even earlier
Another great episode! I remember the tavern from Mark Wiens video in 2017. The price is surprisingly the same when he and his family ordered. Judging from his video and yours, I could assume that the tavern indeed provides good meals for good price. The chickpea soup and the anchovy seems amazing! Thank you for the great video Luke!

As a greek living in the Netherlands for the last year, now i understand why people like our food. The food that greek people get to enjoy on a daily basis is such a luxury i am temped to go back to greece. The most basic, who cares daily food in Greece is like a 8,5/10 by other countries standards.

i did and i am greek. From my perspective this year due to coronavirus everybody who wants to go on holidays should only be in their own countries. Here the government through media play the personal responsibility card to blame it on greek youth for not taking all the measures to protect themselves and others on vacation. Meanwhile they are very forgiving on tourists due to the need for cash. We dont get many tourists this year anyway(70% less than last year)but those who come bring like 20 incidents of coronavirus at least in random checks. We have a spike on coronavirus and the opening wasnt worth anyway cause the demand was to shut down the borders for tourists and help greeks only to go on vacation with the money EU promised to help the economy moving. We fear that the second wave which is ahead due to autumn will be much worse and every sacrifice has been done already will be in vain as our economy is on very bad situation and this will be the last coffin for us. Imagine 50% of greeks stated that they cant afford to go on vacation this year and those who did went to their villages homes, if they have one. I have nothing against the lovely couple otherwise but this year doing this thing doesnt really help but will leave ruins behind after the tourist season ends. Its irresponsible and very selfish this year through a world pandemic for people to care only about their vacation to keep spreading coronavirus globally over and over again. It isnt even about coronavirus anymore but economies at the edge of shuttering and people starve. There is fear here about winter and next year might be even more fiscal as we are already in huge public debt to make the payments. More taxation and cuts to public revenues and the opening of tourism didnt do well at all. We are already banned from certain countries as a health risk destination and this might go worse next year in this loop if nothing changes in policies. For tourists who travel with coronavirus without an inch of care of what that might mean to the country they visit just because they are fine themselves i am speechless. That of course doent go directly for the couple but of all the years,not even this one people cant just make a small step back and enjoy their own country's beauties? we would be done in a month with coronavirus if we did this globally at the same time and more strict checks for the far less incidents to trace in that case. Now we are on a loop going nowhere and a vaccine wont be there for at least one more year.

As a greek living in the Netherlands for the last year, now i understand why people like our food. The food that greek people get to enjoy on a daily basis is such a luxury i am temped to go back to greece. The most basic, who cares daily food in Greece is like a 8,5/10 by other countries standards.

i did and i am greek. From my perspective this year due to coronavirus everybody who wants to go on holidays should only be in their own countries. Here the government through media play the personal responsibility card to blame it on greek youth for not taking all the measures to protect themselves and others on vacation. Meanwhile they are very forgiving on tourists due to the need for cash. We dont get many tourists this year anyway(70% less than last year)but those who come bring like 20 incidents of coronavirus at least in random checks. We have a spike on coronavirus and the opening wasnt worth anyway cause the demand was to shut down the borders for tourists and help greeks only to go on vacation with the money EU promised to help the economy moving. We fear that the second wave which is ahead due to autumn will be much worse and every sacrifice has been done already will be in vain as our economy is on very bad situation and this will be the last coffin for us. Imagine 50% of greeks stated that they cant afford to go on vacation this year and those who did went to their villages homes, if they have one. I have nothing against the lovely couple otherwise but this year doing this thing doesnt really help but will leave ruins behind after the tourist season ends. Its irresponsible and very selfish this year through a world pandemic for people to care only about their vacation to keep spreading coronavirus globally over and over again. It isnt even about coronavirus anymore but economies at the edge of shuttering and people starve. There is fear here about winter and next year might be even more fiscal as we are already in huge public debt to make the payments. More taxation and cuts to public revenues and the opening of tourism didnt do well at all. We are already banned from certain countries as a health risk destination and this might go worse next year in this loop if nothing changes in policies. For tourists who travel with coronavirus without an inch of care of what that might mean to the country they visit just because they are fine themselves i am speechless. That of course doent go directly for the couple but of all the years,not even this one people cant just make a small step back and enjoy their own country's beauties? we would be done in a month with coronavirus if we did this globally at the same time and more strict checks for the far less incidents to trace in that case. Now we are on a loop going nowhere and a vaccine wont be there for at least one more year.
