Must be damn tough to concentrate taking up positions while playing, dancing, hearing, etc. How'd they do that? Got the video of "The Making Of" on how they do the practise, or issit classified?

But I find the dancers are so distracting.

The SAF Band performance is amazing as always.
But I prefer the German folk song. No offence intended.

is the singing really necessary? It would be nicer if it's just the band. (to me) :)

great performance but i think they can improve it with better type of formation using pyware 3d and using marching instruments like contras instead of sousas and use mellophone or marching horn instead of french horn and use marching euphoniums and baritone then also improve the marching style as it is a little old and drum majors should be use for ceremonies not performances like this

That awkward moment where high-school level bands in Singapore such as Tanjong Katong, Bowen and Deyi does way better drills and display than the SAF's.

I hate it when they do the kung fu thing. We are not part of china.

i know this comment is a year old, but just wanted to clarify that our chinese brothers and sisters were mainly from China, our malay brothers and sisters from mainly our nearby neighbours and our indian brothers and sisters mainly from India. I see no problem with our SAF using cultural references in their performance.

Not our sister and brothers, its our forefathers, our ancestors came from other countries. We are born here in Singapore, we have to look forward not backwards.

Be that as it may, Singapore promotes itself as a racially harmonious country, and I see no problem with incorporating different cultural dances into our performances. There are 3 different racially cultural dances incorporated in the performance, why did you not associate the Indian dance segment with India, or the Malay song performance with Indonesia/Malaysia?
In fact, the Malay segment was extended because the performance was in Brunei. Yet, your only criticism is that you hate the Kung Fu performance which is part of the Chinese segment. What about the ribbon dancing? It originated from China as well. Either you're just trying to nitpick at a solid performance, or you have some serious xenophobia about being associated with China. At the end of the day, many of our Chinese brothers and sisters have their roots tied to China, so I fail to see the issue with paying a tribute to the culture which it originated from.

I didn't say they shouldn't, but they really have to stop that china thing. Why not perform Malay Martial arts instead? They should change once in awhile.

"I didn't say they shouldn't, but they really have to stop that china thing." So you contradicted yourself in the first sentence. I don't doubt that a Malay Martial art performance would be interesting to see, but that isn't the problem right now is it?
The issue I'm having here is you being extremely hypocritical, with no other argument except that the fan dance makes us "a part of China". By your logic, a Silat performance would make us "a part of Indonesia", which clearly doesn't make any sense. Singapore is a multi-racial country, and we're displaying that in these performances. Just like every other segment has it's own variations, the fan dance is also changed from performance to performance.
