I love the way he stares at her, deep in thought, before he decides to give her the pass. I love when Bradley Whitford stares at a cast mate in a scene. It always looks very honest and genuine. So few actors seem to take the time to pause in a scene, he does. I think it’s becoming one of my favorite traits about this guy.

Why did she need a pass? She had already blagged her way in to answering the campaign manager's phone!

That’s sweet but I’d say special assistant to dep chief of staff for the white house is a better more important job than chief of staff for the First Lady.
It boggles my mind why she even has a staff….
I thought American didn’t like hereditary privileges…….. but apparently matrimonial privileges are okey?

Considering that literally was the Bartlett campaign.
Josh wanted to impress his father's old friend... Leo.
      C.J. burned out in Hollywood.
Sam wasn't enjoying drafting litigation shields for oil corporations.
Toby... really didn't see what he was before Bartlett's remarks in New Hampshire... just that he was already divorced from future congresswoman Wyatt.
Leo was already looking to rebuild himself after rehab.

@@varianschirmer9375 it can also be added that Josh was frustrated with the Hoynes's campaign's lack of courage (not taking stances on anything of importance), and apparently Toby lost every race he worked on before Bartlet.

Love the musicality of the writing. The repetition of 'who are you? Donna Moss.' At this point Moloney didn't know she was going to be a regular in the series and was just, by her own admission trying to make every second of screen time count. Object lesson for any beginning actress.

"Musicality" is precisely the right word to describe it, rogerstoryteller. That's exactly the way Sorkin has referred to his dialogue. And it's a signature of a lot of his best work. There are scenes in The Newsroom with multiple conversations going on simultaneously, that could just about compare to Les Mis "One Day More".
