No they took the title and its monsters left behind the snow, the original story, the original characters and THEN combined it with cabin in the woods and groundhogs day basically turning it into their very own dead by daylight movie
@AscendantStoic "Why even call it Until Dawn" Brand recognition. We know what the series is about and on the comments of stuff, we talk about it. If people are wondering, outside of casting Peter Storemare, and having the same name, nothing else is the same as the game. There was a video released about “the making of”, it is basically just a groundhogs day thing, instead of Wendigos. The characters aren’t the same, the location isn’t the same, nothing is the same except for the title. Honestly, doesn’t look like a bad film. But I don’t like that they are tying to say it’s based off a game that it has nothing in common with, just to sell more tickets.
Some dude just wrote a generic horror movie script and added time loop, and then some exec said up we'll do it but need a better title, looked up horror video games and picked Until dawn. thats how we got this IMDb future rated 5/10 movie From IMDb trivia: "This film adaptation diverges significantly from the storyline of the original video game, introducing an entirely new ensemble of characters that expand the narrative. The plot has been reimagined and altered, taking bold creative liberties that set it apart from the source material, offering viewers a fresh perspective on the themes and action inherent in the game." The word salad to say its something very different from the game.
You could’ve made 2 cuts of the movie so certain audiences can see one ending while others see another but they’ll come back to try to see the other ending. When it finally releases you could’ve released a director’s cut and deleted scenes that show how characters could’ve live or perished if they made different decisions. But instead you chose to make Happy Death Day yet again.
