I was lucky enough to experience Ted Mckennas music management class around 2001-02 while he was side tracked into education, was a pleasure to listen to the man, a true gent and a legend of rock drumming.
I too saw SAHB at Buxton - exceptional mudbath but SAHB doing Crazy Horses was worth it alone; Canned Heat doing United we stand is still in my head for replay BUT back to the point; I went on to two more gigs of SAHB and am now going through rediscovery; I've always listened to good music, and they still rock! Nah, that's understating. They are still extreme and if anyone can tell me where to go to see/hear Zal I would be very grateful.
I saw SAHB open for Jethro Tull when I was 18 or 19. They opened for Jethro Tull. I never liked Tull that much but was bored visiting big sis's family w/my mom and dad in West VA. Whatever year that tour was, I was there in WV. I was so glad I went to that concert!!! These guys (and if you are reading, members of the band, you guys! ~blew Tull out of the water. I am very picky about both American and Euro bands. Just to give you an idea, never liked Rush (not even 2112), never could stand Bob Seger, Journey makes me nauseated and Styx too. In EU most the bands I liked were punk rock or the likes of Brian Eno or Robert Fripp and Genesis, with the emphasis on Peter Gabriel's contributions NOT Phil Collins. Before the concert, I noticed the fake brick wall, then finally, here comes Alex Harvey busting through the wall on his belly all the way to the front of the stage. he pretended to be a drunken pirate but spoke so eloquently and kindly to those of us lucky enough to be right where he slid, front stage. It seemed he talked to me for 15 minutes and afterwards, I knew him, to an extent ~but in the best way. I don't think I ever knew anyone in my 61 years, now, that I liked even half as much. I will never understand why he made Americans mad, but I will never understand why our president is Donald Trump now (lol NOT). You guys, and I hope you do read this, changed my life FOREVER. You jolted me, you mesmerized me, and the song Faith Healer (the look in Alex's eyes when he would sing "can I put my hands on you?" almost scared the bajeebers out of me, but in a really awesome way. I was so wide eyed at such incredible talkent. I knew I was seeing something I would miss forever. Val, between your crazy wide open smiles with "Mime" and those zuit suits, you even beat Ziggy Stardust, in my eyes, by miles and miles. Will there ever be another Alex Harvey? We all know the answer to that! Your good intent, no excellent intent throughout your progression as a band (as I have now seen a lot of the older stuff too) was unending two steps forward and nary once a step back. You are the GREATEST!!!! :D It has been so many years since Alex left us. It still hurts so bad thinking of him sitting there alone waiting for the ferry *sigh. oh well, don't let me get sappy now. ZAL CLEMINSON: BEST LEAD GUITAR PLAYER EVER!!! #1 Aerosmith fan #1SAHB fan, I am truly grateful to you, FOREVER! BIG BOA HUGS ;) LOVE YA!!!!
I saw SAHB Live many times with Stevie and Max but I saw Alex with the new band at Birmingham Odeon 1980 It was good because it was Alex but it was only half full.. My older brother said in the mid 70s you were lucky to get a ticket..
I Love the S,A,H,B,, they are in a Genre of their own,,,, I Only saw one gig,, its was the New Alex Harvey Band, gig in 1982,, at Birmingham Apollo,, it was the last gig Alex ever did,,,,
Wow, it's strange seeing them now. Looks like the both of them might of been alot of trouble in a bar brawl. God Bless them. My favorite band back in the day.
Interesting that they mention the ABC filming we were up for the job & even offered to fund it but Ted is correct the management were a total wash out. Later we filmed an Ian Hunter gig... same guy involved another who totally screwed up the deal. Later finding out he wasn't even the Ian Hunter manager.
Johnallification, Zal Cleminson was the mad looking guy who used to wear the clown makeup and stripey catsuits and played lead guitar like he was born with one in his hands; not certain about Ted Mackenna, my bad
These guys are sheer geniuses. Absolutely love them!

Zall is the most under-rated on this planet. Listen to his solo on Amos Mosos!!
You are not lying! Zal has kicked my ass since the first time I heard that great live album.
Seen them in Cleveland in 73. Blew me totally away. Zal was sooo underrated !!!!!
great guitarist and one of the best live performers i have seen.
I met Alex Harvey in 1963 at the Gamp club in Edinburgh. He changed my life. A huge influence on my musical direction at the time.
I saw SAHB at Buxton Pop Festival 35 yrs ago - Amazing

My dad knew Alex I was born not far from where Alex lived..Alex was the godfather of glam punk and rock etc...his band was great!
SAHB lives...no matter what. I love em.

I love that comment by mitchellwes7 that Hugh was (Ted's uncle) Of course, he's my cousin...Easy mistake to make I suppose...
Wonderful afternoon. Ted especially has been harshly edited. Zal was great, Ted was greater.
Could someone please put me in touch with Alec jnr? I have some books of SAHB clippings to give him. Many thanks
@anndalucia1
who are the two fellow's that we're looking at and what posistion's did they hold in the band.
ohh schenker got hold of ted and glenn ..and they were just great..!!
SAHB sold 5 times the product of any other market in America, regardless of it's size. They are Gods in Cleveland to this day!
разрази меня гром, но эти два старичка - великие музыканты!
great

Early AC/DC were heavily influenced by SAHB!

Ooops, apologies for misspelling your sign-in, JohnAllenification; it's late and I'm tired.
