It is in fact Keith Richards playing Sparrow's father, because Depp based a lot of Sparrow's mannerisms off of Richards, so it's essentially come full circle in this 😃

@@Kvssett Yes he did!! He also directed "The Lone Ranger", "The Ring", "MouseHunt", and "A Cure for Wellness" (all of which I'd recommend)! I'm a big fan of his and I think he's vastly underrated as a filmmaker. He's one of my all-time favorites!

@@ifeeldeadinsideD2 It was clearly meant to be like Pirates of the Caribbean because it’s made by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
One cut scene explains how the governor died, it was right after the scene when they brought the heart of Jones on the Dutchman, Davy Jones taunted him about how he killed his daughter, and when he did so the governor went and almost stabbed the heart, but commador stopped him and was then told she lived, and beckat basically said to kill the governor, just look up at worlds end cut scenes. It’s a really good one and I wish it stayed it was so important
Yeah there is also this amazing deleted bit from the scene between Jack and Becket that pretty much explains Jack’s backstory in under 20 seconds.

Becket tells Jack that the last time he saw the pearl he had it burned and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Then he continues that he had to go through a lot of effort to raise her back up, making a deal with Davy Jones. Then Becket tells Jack he was supposed to deliver cargo, “not liberate it.” On which Jack responds: “people arent cargo mate.”
They should have kept this tiny bit, it’s so much better than that afwull flashback in the fifth movie.
@@potloodpuntje6130 yup, Jack worked for EITC, he sailed the cargo around the world but when Beckett gave him a job to transport 1000 slaves which Jack set free and because of that Beckett burned his ship Wicked Wench (deleted scene Jack says "people aren't cargo, mate" to Beckett). Jack then made a deal with Davy Jones to bring up his ship from the bottom of the sea and to let Jack be captain for 13 years after which he would serve on Davy Jones' ship. Davy Jones brought the ship to the surface but it was all blackened from the fire so Jack renamed it to Black Pearl.

that scene really needed to stay in cause it explains WHY another's heart must replace jones'-cause he himself cursed his heart to cause that.

Exactly what I’ve been sayin. This movie has the best end battle scene ever. And then endgame came out and topped it but other then that no other movie has come close to an epic battle scene

@@HarnaiDigital that’s a fair point. Honestly they are tied for me. I love endgames battle because I’ve grown up with all the MCU films. The good, the bad, and the great. So that end battle scene is epic. Pirates, I saw them when I was a kid, and loved all three of them. The third one will always be my favorite and that end battle scene is my benchmark for epic battle scenes in film. I remember as a an 11 year old watching at worlds end going “You can do that in a movie??” Pirates is just a cool movie in general
@@alexkoohyar5 definitely Right. LOL I've not seen any movies since 2021 when I discovered a sitr where I can download all movies. So I started POTC, Dreamworks animation, Pixar and Disney and MCU. But my most favorite one is POTC and MCU. I know this may sound stupid but I liked pirates 5 a lot except Jack. There is going to be something really great in the next movie. Cannot wait for it.
fun(or more sad) fact: they cut a scene where you find out why jack was branded a criminal. the scene that I am talking about is when jack says
"People aren't cargo mate"
As Beckett's employee, Jack searched for the mystical island of Kerma and its legendary treasure, until he decided to betray Beckett and keep the island and its inhabitants safe from Beckett and his slave traders. When Beckett contracted him to transport a cargo of slaves to the Bahamas, Jack chose to liberate them and steal the Wench from Beckett. However, Beckett's men managed to find him and branded him as a pirate, while the Wench was set aflame and sunk. After striking a bargain with Davy Jones, the ghostly captain of the Flying Dutchman, to resurrect his beloved vessel, Jack had the Wench renamed the Black Pearl and began the pirate life anew.
the amount of slaves he saved was 100. hand down one of my favorites character ever

One of my favorite deleted scenes.
It makes his backstory a bit too concrete to me and the exposition doesn’t flow at all, but it’s a nice character idea.

They should've kept it. Unfortunately Disney ruined lots of what was founded in the trilogy in later films...

Little did they know that Davy Jones is still alive because the cross over with the video game Sea of thieves is canon to what happens after the 5th movie.

Sea of thieves had a massive crossover, and davy jones is alive because the dutchman reqiures a captain, so since wills curse was lifted, he filled his place again. Basically, jack stole a treasure that allows him to travel between worlds, and davy jones wants it, to expand his empire, jack died and you need to save him before davy jones takes the treasure from him.

This is the movie that made Barbossa my favorite character
I love it that they sort of warm up to eachother in this one.
He is also so good in the fourth movie, that scene where Jack and Barbossa where captured by the Spanish is easily the best part of that movie.
They should have just made somekind of budy cop movie with Jack and Barbossa after the third, because there rivalry is just the best.
@@potloodpuntje6130 exactly, they are a great team. I would love to see a movie from the time when Barbossa was Jack's first mate and what adventures they went on . They definitely are frenemies. In the last 2 movies Jack only calls him Hector and literally refers to Barbossa as " his bestest mate in the whole world "

If you guys can find it, you should watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Tales of the Code: Wedlocked, it is a short film sort of like a prequel for Cotton, but principally its about Scarlett and Giselle (the girls that always slap Jack), it's like 10 min long, and kinda fun

13:48 Yeah, Groves is one of the two officers under Norrington's command in the first movie, then he shows up in this film, and he was also in POTC 4: On Stanger Tides. In POTC 1 and 3, he's lieutenant, making him third in command, but in POTC 4 his rank has improved to lieutenant commander, which means he is second in command to the captain of the ship. You'll need to watch POTC 4 to finish his character arc.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I really don’t understand the hate for it. It’s rated PG-13 for people who want to know if it’s fine for kids or not. It’s fun, it’s interesting. It has my favorite romance in film history, and I don’t even care for romances.

if u guys dont play the game "sea of thieves", look up the full playthrough of the recent "a pirates life" expansion. it's POTC based where the characters from the films have crossed worlds into that of the game and are followed by a revived davy jones. the events are canon and directly follow the events of the film series and are inspired by the original disney ride as well.
