Most contractors would charge $600 for the x13 motor installed. And they back it with a warranty. Not that it’s rocket science but if he were to screw up his circuit board, he would be kicking himself. Also if it fails, he needs to pay for shipping both ways and wait a week. When a contractor installs it, they will be out with new motor, no extra costs during warranty. Even at $800, it’s not a rip off. Think. The contractor pays a bit more at supply house because of warranty (over the counter) The contractor will dedicate half the day to drive to job, diagnose, drive to supply house and back, spend time installing it, use his expensive motor tester to run diagnostics on it. I would rather call an hvac company, pay them $150-300 for the labor and get a FREE OEM motor and keep my hands clean. Just saying.
@@joeburner7120 Did you not watch the video? He called and got bogus information from a "trained" HVAC person. How was he to know that the guy was full of you know what? Wait...let me guess...HE DIDN'T KNOW. Since it is not uncommon for "trained" HVAC people to feed you BS to sell you something that you have no idea whether you really need it. So what was he supposed to do, call another person out and pay them $300+ to potentially give him another BS diagnosis? No, he took the bull by the horns and took care of business himself. Props to him.
@@markbeard2222 He only knew he needed to replace the motor because someone gave him the RIGHT info. He was never charged $1200 for the job. He said that to make a video. You know fluff it to get people interested. So he ended paying someone $150 to diagnose the system, he then bought the motor online for $300. They also need to pay for gas, insurance, tools, taxes, retirement benefits (like everyone else gets). So those costs have to passed on so they can make a reasonable living like everyone else. I believe you expect to make money at work also. I’m sure you wouldn’t spend hours and pay all work related expenses to make $15 an hour?????
Short story long, do you complain when you pay $8 for breakfast when you can spend $1 in ingredients and cook at home. The dude that made this video exaggerated the story to make a TH-cam video.
Bro a motor is like 150. Who cares if it’s under warranty a hvac will still scam you on labor. Dude did the right thing and cleaned his fan blades. Thanks for the vid.
