During the Pitch Notation Exercise, your tapping foot during audiation was helpful. I felt in sync with what you were audiating. Thanks Kevin!

Good to know. I go back and forth on whether that is helpful or distracting. Ultimately, I think it’s good to keep a rhythm going with these exercises both literally and figuratively. I’ll definitely keep that up then!

It's definitely helpful, for me anyway. It's more fun and easier to practice with the rhythm, like a tune would be. It's only distracting if the click is more like a beep and has a pitch. Only my opinion. Thanks Kevin!

Bells distract me. If I hear bells, thoughts are no longer possible.

I really enjoyed this. I could do the exercises but absolutely believe in the value of doing the basics really well. And - being a guitarists - it had never occurred to me to practise transcribing like this! I look forward to the gradual progression!

That's great to hear. It takes time to complete ear training this way, but then again, think about how much time musicians waste with ear training programs that keep repeating the same pitches over and over. I believe in learning slow and wasting as little time as possible.

    Hello,
Just wanted to ask you if I am hearing this right. At 12:35 you play a G Perfect Fifth, I hear only two tones. The following example you play what sounds like 3 tones and you say it is also a Perfect Fifth. I hear GMaj due to there being a third tone @12:41.
Loving the practice you are giving me. Really appreciate it!

Thank you so much! yes, that was a G major triad. I've now edited out, so in a few hours that should be gone. For the actual course, I play directly from a notated score, so that shouldn't happen! I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying this!

This gradual increment from c4 and g4 to c3 and g3 is great. I'm having trouble audiating the c3 and g3 because it's outside my voice register, and when i sing it in the c4 instead of c3, my mind tries to audiate it as c4 too 😁 I'm gonna keep trying though. Thank you again for this awesome resource!

I’m not sure if you’re doing this, but make sure you aren’t audiating with your own voice. You want to imagine the sound of the piano, especially if it’s outside your range.

@@UreMusic that's a great point, yeah i do find myself accidentally doing that. Will be more conscious of it, thanks!

Good stuff! One thing though -- the volume of your audio is *very* low. I have to crank up my speakers to an uncomfortably high level to hear you clearly. When a Y-tube ad suddenly came on during your presentation it nearly blew my ears out. Can you boost your output volume (or somehow calibrate it against typical Y-tube vids)? Looking fwd to the whole series!

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll see what I can do about that. I didn’t realize that was an issue, but I think I have a solution. When I post the next one, please feel free to let me know how the audio level was for you!

Same here but I am enjoying the videos, so far.

The audio does get louder. Especially in the upcoming videos, I am using a new setup! Thanks for the input. It really helps.
