Your tree is gorgeous, and filled with so much eye candy! I love your variations of the cross stitched ornaments, and the felt ornaments, OH MY!! You do such beautiful work, and have such a great eye for color. The daffodils for your flower basket are just amazing! I would just love to sit and watch you making these just to see how it is done! I wish you a very Merry Christmas and I know that you will enjoy your family time. Looking forward to 2025!
Thank you! It's very boring, just me sitting and squinting at a petal for hours on end! Peyote stitch is like bricking Legos, but with beads and a needle - no variety at all. Oddly enough, I find it very soothing and hardly notice time passing, but it'd be a lot like watching someone do vast amounts of block stitching!
I chuckled at your ending when you mentioned your tutorial videos.. I went down quite the rabbit hole yesterday after watching your briolette tutorial. I've got all sorts of ideas, and all sorts of ornaments that need finishing.. all I need is time and some more sparkly bits. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge so freely! 🪡👠
All your stitching is drop dead gorgeous, love how you put on a great big smile when talking about crystals and other sparklies. The daffodils blew me away, how beautiful!! The house your mom stitched is so sweet. Happy holidays to you and your family and a very merry and sparkly Christmas to you.🪡🪡🎄🎄
So much great stuff! I would love to see a rerun of the dove next year. This year was a financial disaster for us and I just couldn't justify any stitchy spending, but I would love to get a dove kit next year! Same for the gingerbread house -- I adore gingerbread houses so it seems only right to make that my first Stacey Nash. Right now I'm having a wonderful time stitching a set of five Danish missed (elves) -- which are actually bead patterns from my teen years. Happy stitchy holidays!
Happy holidays to you and yours as well! I'm very sorry to hear that, but the list is growing so there is a chance the doves will return. It will ultimately all depend on numbers because they are an insane amount of work to put together - it's only practical at scale.
Love those little sequined star ornaments! Oh my!! I am currently working on Be Merry and Bright but using your silk conversion and sparkly trim and hanger. Thank You for all you do for the Stitching World, you are awesome
Loved seeing your holiday stitching, but I had to smile when you showed Stacy Nash Ginger Bread pattern .. I did attend her class over the weekend and have a finish but mine had what I call a Katie touch. On the back where there are snowflakes to stitch I had added crystal sequins. Errrmmm love it. Looking forward to seeing your take and perhaps will inspire a Katie style second house using the additional the second pattern ❤
That is fabulous! I wholeheartedly endorse any and all sparkly additions! And a sparkle house with the second pattern sounds like a fabulous idea - I still haven't watched the class myself, but you know I printed the extra chart out the second it hit my inbox!!!
Thank you Katie! Always a pleasure to see your lovely tree. Your excitement for Christmas is wonderful!! Merry Christmas to you and your family !! 🎄☃️🎄☃️❤️🎅🏻
We were just talking about that! We're going to film mine again this year and I have some photos of hers, but for the next episode to give me time to add a few more ornaments!
Your ornaments and stitched pieces are all wonderful, and I love, love, love the daffodils! Your future plans all sound great. Take care, and happy seasonal stitching, Arleen
My mother was just telling me we had to do that! We'll film a tree tour for the next episode - I have to have some more time to craft extra pretties for it!
Every episode I am just completely amazed. You are so talented and all the Christmas fun and sparkles is just what I needed! Thanks for sharing all of this :)
100% on the “Matthew tiachuk is an a-hole”. That is unless he is yours. Always called Dumba a dumbass. Now he is ours , so he is okay. Same with Corey Perry a few years ago. 😂. The Partridge is great. With the doves you’ve got a good start on a “12 days “series. !! Especially since golden rings are birds too. I just found that out thanks to momma GB/ Michelle
Preach! Although I think a lot of the league learned to love Corey Perry (I can't believe I'm typing that) as he got older and his troll antics became more clever and funny. My brother and I must have watched the video of him squirting water in an opponent's gloves a half dozen times, laughing hysterically. He elevated trolling to an art form!
Marchand is an excellent choice! Personally, I'd have gone for Trouba, but really, so many to choose from. Rivalry runs deep in hockey fandom! As to the Santa - she recharted the hand. If you look at the original, because he has a dark mitten on it looks like he's holding a gun. I didn't see it at first - mine has the charted hand - but now that it's been pointed out I can't unsee it. She didn't think that was in the Christmas spirit so she changed the shape of the hand.
SAL stands for start a long in this case! I think we're just going to have a really good time playing with pretty threads at Symposium, and if anyone puts in any stitches after that it's just a bonus!
Katie, all of your ornaments are spectacular, but the Matthew Tkachuk ornament is the prize of prizes. (I remember his dad ~ with much more affection ~ from his days with Phoenix.) Well done. 😊
I'm so glad someone else appreciates it too! My brother showed me that tweet a couple of years ago and I wrote it down as something that had to be an ornament one day. I can't wait for Christmas morning, he's going to howl with laughter. Truly, a sentiment all hockey fans can agree on!
@ Yes! We used to say much worse things about the Red Wings, but this is truly a universal sentiment, as you said. Have a lovely holiday with your family, Katie.
Hi Katie, love all the ornaments and your wips! Isn’t Bride Cake a gorgeous linen? I am currently stitching an ornament in it as well (from Inga Palmgren’s Swedish Christmas Calendar book) in all red. Would it be possible to say where you got the wool felt from for your Fortnum and Mason ornament and the details on it. I might try making some gingerbread man ornaments this year.
Thank you! Bride Cake is just fabulous, colors really pop on it. For felt you'll have to hunt, but the embellishments are all from Caravan Beads. Miyuki seed beads, bugle beads, and cut hex beads - it's so hard to guess colors online, but that's how I end up with so much stash to pull from! If it's not right for one project, I'll find another for it eventually...
Light siam is correct. Siam is a darker color - beautiful, and it was used on Little Nick and Cookie Klaus, but that really vivid red I held up is light siam. Not that you can go all that wrong with fabulous sparkles!

Can’t wait to see your tree from a distance to appreciate all of your decorations. Hopefully your mum will also show us her tree 😀

Thank you! I'm not sure all the sequins are super fancy, but I'm only a semi-fancy lady...
Hi Katie! Can't wait to take a trip around your tree.
My mother was just telling me we had to do that! We'll film a tree tour for the next episode - I have to have some more time to craft extra pretties for it!
Can’t wait to see your take on the Stacy Nash gingerbread house. Guess I’ll be stitching it twice since I already have Stacy’s kit😂
Nothing wrong with that! I've stitched many pieces twice - keep one, give one makes everyone happy!
The ornaments you made look wonderful on your tree! Have a great Christmas!
Thank you so much, and merry Christmas!
Beautiful ornaments and great ideas. I always enjoy your flosstube. I might try the house ornaments - a precious gift from your talented mom.
Thank you! It's one of my most cherished ornaments, and the chart is very simple and clear to follow. I would highly recommend it!
Every episode I am just completely amazed. You are so talented and all the Christmas fun and sparkles is just what I needed! Thanks for sharing all of this :)

Did your mom forget the hand on her Santa decoration? You both do amazing work and i love your hockey decoration! I would have put Marchand on mine!

If you can get Laura to follow through on that SAL, I would love to know your secret! 😂 Beautiful pieces, as always, Katie. The tree looks gorgeous ❤

Love all of the sparkly stuff! 🤩 Keep it coming, I am so inspired! 😊
Thank you so much! Definitely sparkles aplenty during the holidays in Katie world!
I just called the Attic for the Gobelin whites😊
They'll hook you up! Hoop & Frame and Needle in a Haystack also stock Gobelins, for future reference.
@ thank you
Hi Katie, love the daffodils you made. The fox and rabbit ocean air fabric is lovely as well. Have a great week. TTFN

@ thanks Katie! I found a local shop for 1.1mm wool felt. Is that a decent weight?

How do you order a kit please
On my website - katie-strachan.com/shop - enjoy!
What was the name of the red crystal you held up? Fire sign? I couldn't catch it.
Found it! Siam. I got some birthday money and am buying myself some sparkling goodies.

Can you tell me where you got your nutcracker ornament pattern ? Thanks
I adapted it myself from a card by Rifle Paper Company - they have a lot of fabulous paper products inspired by the Nutcracker
You are an amazing person. I would take classes from you in a heartbeat!
