An effect I like to use for that wobbly tape effect, as well as emulated tape saturation and compression is called Chow Tape. It’s free, the UI is super intuitive, and I use it in nearly all of my beats for some extra drive
I wanna see Navie D in the Conductor Williams beat competition next month. Why? To see and hear what an experienced producer makes behind the scenes and to really know what a beat competition beat should sound like in the space of sample based production.
Thanks for all the work you put into these videos! I'm reminded how rare it is to find someone who does something well, but is also able/willing to explain it in a meaningful way.
Could you make a tutorial on making beats like the ones on the forever story by JID. Songs like 2007 and Stars have some of my favourite production of the 2020s
Naive, as a broke beat maker who only has garage band and a MacBook, I want to thank you for your vids. You always give out beneficial info and it’s truly a blessing for me bro!
i love the neo boom bap sound on the samples. one of the things i like to get that gritty sound is run a 20 year old yamaha through guitar pedals. i like to usually go into some fuzz distortion then a chorus and a phaser.
It's crazy that your videos at the same time teach me a lot of things, and they are the most entertaining I get from youtube. I really love you (like a friend)
Bro that HiHat tip really helped soooo much. Thank you so much. U were my first channel I watched when I started learning how to make beats. Now I can make classic Dilla/Nujabes beats but also Griselda style beats. Can't wait to keep experimenting with different genres 🔥👑
The only thing that I think would have given it a more raw Neo Boom Bap sound would have been to cut up a Drum Break and leave slightly more tail-end on each slice; instead of trying to emulate that sound on standalone samples through distortion, etc. There’s something about making a drum pattern when your kick has a hi-hat or cymbal artifact attached to it and you’re forced to get creative with that. You could also go the step further by creating a break on your own with “acoustic” sounding plugins like Studio Drummer or Garageband’s Live-Kits and then resampling that loop, if you are trying to avoid sampling from others’ records.
Dude I love your content and the knowledge you drop. Seriously helps a ton. Do you have anything on effects and techniques to get different sounds like that muffled drum sound on these two examples?
Not sure if you want the breath but getting a lot of sibilance on this video ... very bright sound and love your camera work looks very professional -- but did notice the sound was super crisp not sure if it is what you are going for. Its probably just me, but the s's and f's are distracting me. Experimenting with the video or tieing in the sound and video.. at 9:30 what is going on sepia chrono? interesting but not sure if this is intentional art or not. You do you these things just popping out at me wondering if they are intentional. Curious how the sound will change if you angled the mic if it would cut down your sibilance a little.
Great Video 👍🏾, could you go more in depth about use cases for a transient shaper. like a full video about how to shape drums and how they can effect other instruments. thatd be dope and help me out alot.
Please please make a breakdown for some of the beats on "enta da stage" by black moon Those beats are legendary imo Great breakdowns as always my guy❤❤
im begging you to make a video on rza pleaseee i would love a video looking deeper into his production, i know you featured him in a video but a full one would be a banger.
Thank you so much for your content and informative Insight not an FL Studios user straight logic and GarageBand but so much respect for you thank you bro
Special interests, monologuization and the tendency to overexplain is the symptom of... um... youtubing. Thanks for overexplaining I just needed a bit of inspiration in fixing a beat!
Love these videos, could you do a video on dark trap like rodeo, birds in the trap, or dark sky paradise (big Sean). All your fault is one of my favourite beats of all time.
Hey I don’t if you accept video ideas but could you do a video on Jon billions beats? I’m thinking like the song “I feel it” and “woke the f up”. They are just very interesting to me
Anybody wanna see a beat battle between Navie D vs Busy Works BeatS? I just noticed BWB's just lifted this tutorial with the exact nail and similar title. And my answer to my question is yes, Navie needs to destroy BWB.
An effect I like to use for that wobbly tape effect, as well as emulated tape saturation and compression is called Chow Tape. It’s free, the UI is super intuitive, and I use it in nearly all of my beats for some extra drive
Crazy, I personally almost always use it on my bass wit that bass pusher preset, I usually like powerful basses on my beats
It's criminal how genuinely useful your content is

The points about the effect chain order was on absolute point! Thank you for your logic on that.

This genre gotta be one of my favourites to be birthed out of modern hip-hop. Offering so much with so less.
This you for this bro. I never get tired of learning from you.

are these beats actually called "neo boom bap". I have never heard that term used except for here and bwb's channel
No, they're not. This cat is the only one on the planet using this awful term.
navie means alot for hip hop, and i dare someone to oppose
Very goood
My favorite soup is vegetable soup navie

navie is the coolest
Red Peas is The soup stay dope fam
3 women??? i need an overexplanation on how to do that
Its saved boom bap but internet producers are missing the point by using the same old sample pack drums and turning it into an oversaturated space.
Thumbnail:
"AYO!"
man’s jokes are more stale than 3 year old bread 😬
10/10
but somehow never showed bpm
Neo Boom Bap??? lol That's a new one
Is this how the Alchemist creates these psychedelic effects?
THANK YOU NAVIE D HEHE POTATO SOUP
Will you sue me if I make beat making videos under Naive D?
& why is it called Neo boom bap?
Neo is a term meaning new. It’s a newer version of boom bap where it utilizes the old school boom bap aesthetic with modern sounds.
