Lately, I've noticed that a lot of decorating shows--especially the ones with staging for real estate--are crammed with excess, and I think that contributes to the problem people have. Bazillions of pillows and over-the-top dining table setting extravaganzas, coffee tables covered with candles, candles, and more candles--no wonder we keep buying, trying to reach the "ideal" of what we see. We see first, then want, then buy, then--sigh, here we are.
I 1000% struggle with the sunk cost fallacy when decluttering. The process and mindset improves each time I declutter a drawer, closet, space... as with all things, it takes time and I'm making progress, thanks to helpful videos like this! 😊
This is a beginning step. I highly recommend the book ‘Clearing The Clutter’ by Karen Kingston. She certified me back 25 years ago. She really helps you understand the emotional trauma and emotional neglect as cause of clutter. She completely teaches you the emotional and physical process and it is phenomenal!
