    You should try printing one in two halves and gluing them together so you don't have to use supports (resulting in an easier print and better surface). I did this a while back with regular PLA+ and it worked well. The ball did break eventually (after quite a bit of use) but not at the glued part.

      I might print one and give it to my brother and he’s friends to see how well it holds up, if they can’t wear through it (aside from falling on it) then it is basically indestructible

    My guess is that HR starts for High Restitution. The coefficient of restirution is a measure of the elasticity of a collision between two bodies. Higher restitution = more bouncy.

    hi guys if you want to print this pla hr or any flexible material i recommend to use normal pla on the first layer if you want to remove anything easily from the build plate

    This is awesome! I am going to buy some of this filament for myself for Christmas. Probably from AliExpress. I’m hoping I don’t waste $50 on it and the print doesn’t fail. I read on Makerworld that the Biqu filament doesn’t stick to glue stick. I wonder if putting down painters tape would work? Otherwise I will probably use my extra build plate.

    At about 6:37 after your second drop test, looks like you picked up the Biqu first and then switch hands so then during the dribble looks like it’s the Biqu you liked more.

    If that plate that had the supports bonded to it is a og bambu plate, you should be able to fix it by ripping the pei sheet and putting a new one on.

    Gotta try out ataraxia’s version of this filament. There are 2 different ones, the one labeled for the basketball is High resilience.

    You mentioned a DC trip, not sure how long those trips last but there is an awesome makers’ studio in Baltimore called OpenWorks if you can’t be away from projects for too long. I can only assume from the Bucees shirt you’re not local to the northeast 😅

    I just printed the Wisdream flexi tough filament and it was great. Took 72hrs.

      You should print them in different color or with a marking to avoid such mistakes. You may have mixed them up before recoding...

    Awesome, thanks for the vid. My son and I went with DUDV2 PLA-B. Which filament profile did you use? We have a Bambu P1S. Just received the filament and .6mm nozzle, now trying to check all of the settings before hitting the button.

    Love your videos. Did you dry the Biqu filament? I am not sure if drying it out will reduce the bounce or dry it out. I just received mine and wanted to print the ball

    I bought the DUDV2 filament the other day and just received it. Did you need to dry the filament to get a good print?

    I'm obsessed with these airless basketballs and idk why. But I'm curious what it takes to break them with these new filaments? Is it just like inevitable they break after so many bounces? Does it break if you throw it against the wall as hard as you can? Can you drop kick it and it break? I can't get a good sense of it's longevity and I get everyone's being gentle with it given the time+money it takes to make one of these now lol. But that time+cost is why I'm curious if these are just a novelty of being like a basketball that won't last a week of 'use' or they have some lifespan on them.

    Couple of questions for you. I bought all the stuff here and Am 24hours into printing and I'm wondering a few things. Did you dry the filament before printing? I'm getting some sloppy layers at the edges after it stops printing the supports. I'm wondering what your surface was like on this project.

    With that high of a cost, was there a reason not to print supports in a different material?

      That would only really work on the Prusa type system with multi tool heads as far as I know. Because TPU like materials will clog up the Bambu AMS

    Have you ever tired printing one on a BIQU glacier plate with no supports? Maybe I don't full understand why we have to put so many supports? is it's only about moving?

    When you said the Dudv2 may be better than the Biqu, did you account for bending down and the balls ending up in opposite hands as they started? How can you tell the two apart now?

    Is the one printed in the ataraxia flexible PLA the same model with the inner hexagons as well? Pritning one in the same filament now, looks like it's going to be a disappointment based on this video

    I think you swapped them at 6:35. So then the dudv2 became Biqu and Biqu became dudv2

    Flip the build plate. It is way easier to remove from a smooth metal surface.

    That is great, but WOW is that some spendy filament. $65 a spool? So that's like $35 for a basketball there... ;-)

    $50-$60 per roll? Idk....basketballs are much cheaper. But I get it. It is neat and novel, but I'd rather just get a real basketball.
