FILM DESCRIPTION:
Former sportswriter Andy Farmer (Chevy Chase) and his secretly aspiring author wife, Elizabeth (Madolyn Smith), move to a small farm in Vermont so Andy can focus on writing a novel. They quickly realize that the locals are not as welcoming as they'd like and that the farm is more distracting than inspiring. Having trouble with his manuscript, and with his marriage on the rocks, Andy is forced to take hilariously drastic measures in an attempt to get his life back on track.

I remember seeing this as a kid, and his face expression when they told him what he was eating cracked me up so hard. I remember the next day in school I kept thinking about it, and I had to hold back my laughter, because the teacher wanted silence when we were working, but that just made me want to laugh more. 🤣

This film is so underrated and one of the funniest ever.
I have never understood why so few people have even heard of it! It was theatrically released, as well as when Chase was at the top of his game 🤔
1:05 this here is what makes the scene funnier: No words, no sounds, just a simple "O_O" from him as they're casually discussing the secret to tasty Sheep Balls. Then punctuating the punchline with a spit take.
The *tink* sound of the fork hitting the plate makes me lol as well!

@@JosephMulvihill Me too, and I also would have wondered the same thing myself as well even though I probably wouldn't want to eat testicles though. I've also heard of this movie as well as this particular scene because one of my local radio stations that I know actually used a sample of this scene from this movie a while back as part of their introduction to one of their talk show programs.
Funniest movie in history. Acting, script, camera work, characters, beautiful scenery.
Chevy didnt even have to speak, his facial expressions alone were hilarious. This one and so many more. Especially when Madolyn was on the typewriter and he was waiting with a bottle if whiskey the bedroom, his expression is priceless.
Madolyn Smiths timing as an actress was spot on.
I randomly saw this scene on tv back in the 90's and I never forgot about it 😂

Funniest scene in the entire movie. I can't see any other actor making as funny faces than Chevy Chase did when reacting to learning what it was he was eating. From his eyes, you could see his brain thinking about it as the waitress was explaining it. And the "clink" of the fork hitting the plate when he drops it. Yeah, funniest scene in the whole movie!!! HILARIOUS!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I really did have those on a Sunday Morning in Southern Chile. It was on my then girlfriend's family's farm. Everything was fresh, meaning the potatoes and salad. The white wine, which was also Chilean, was purchased at a local store.
They castrated one horse and 6 young small bulls.
The horse seemed to know what was up, and put up a lot of resistance. We did not eat the horse's testicles because in Chile they do not eat horse meat. They fed the still warm horse's balls to the dogs.
The small bulls, however, were much more docile. Beef is consumed there so they will also consume the testicles, also known as "Prairie Oysters".
Tasty stuff. The texture resembled sweetbreads, if you have ever had those.

This is my favorite scene from this movie and one of my local radio stations that I like to listen to actually even used some samples from this scene as part of the intro for its morning talk show program since that was actually how I first discovered this.

Tried making some mushroom chili with some mushrooms about out of time. Sauteed in some olive oil and got them pretty brown. Then I added some chili beans. Some garlic. Some tomato sauce. Some chilli powder. Cumin. Dash supercharge blend. Heart burn in a bottle. Onion. Salt. It was ok until I added two more ingredients. Strong beef broth and wine. $3 bottle of wine I bought 2 years ago is finally getting some use. I tried a bit of cider vinegar in some separately and it just wasn't the flavor I wanted. I thought of this scene when I wrote the recipe.

Has anyone actually tried them? If cow tongue, liver, brain, and heart are any indicator, testicles should taste and chew very distinctively from ground beef and I can't imagine anyone seriously confusing them with more popular foods.
