    I'm a Kershaw, ZT and Spyderco guy But i've been wanting to try Benchmade for a while. This is the first design i've seen from them that A) appeals to me and B) is not horrifically overpriced. So kudos to Benchmade, i may finally become a customer!

    Glad you liked the video, sad you didn't buy it from us! Next time. :) If you're a collector, don't use it. If you bought it to be a tool, by all means, use it! I'm not much into collecting stuff that I don't use. I love the lint and grit and dirt that accumulates on my knives. No safe queens for me. I'd use it like a boss.

    Looks like a great knife. One thing I like about BM is they announce a knife then it comes out very soon. Too many companies announce a knife and it never comes out or takes many, many months. I hope BM does the same thing with this knife as Spyderco does with the PM2; offer it in various blade steels and grip colors. As soon as they release the knife without the 1st run inscription, I getting one, and maybe even from you guys. This looks like a winner. Thanks for the video.

    Oh and the axis lock is putting pressure on it. I tryed keeping the axis lock open and it opens very easily without a flick. The axis is what's keeping it from opening without a flick of the wrist. Open the lock with your thumb and middle finger the push the flipper with pointer finger and it flyes open.

    Hell everyone,As the designer of this knife I will try to answer some of the questions here.There is a possibility of different color scales and a black blade version eventually.This knife is built almost identical to the proto I submitted but Benchmade use their axis lock vs liner lock.I chose this color g10 because at that time I was building knives headed to troops in Astan and that is what they wanted and I had plenty of it.

    Lol. I have a gently used semi-serrated one. I just looked at this video because was was considering letting it go because I want the Spyderco Smock so badly. Now that I know my Benchmade is no longer in print and is in good shape, I think I’ll hang on to it. In the condition it’s in, it will only increase in value.

    I just got mine in hand and the flipper action on it is just fine, I dont have to do the exaggerated flick like in the video, idk whats up with his, tight pivot or user error but i do not have that problem with mine, G10 is grippy, and the knife feels good in hand IMO

  • @Mirrabam
    @Mirrabam 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, like KBar said, it would be cool to see a larger version, and the same scales but white and black (I know all this would add to cost and probably wont be done because Benhmade and Butch are busy!!) Just a thought, AWESOME blade though!

    This knife will flip without wrist action but the blade retention due to the axis lock is a little softer.The knife feels great in hand

    NNOOOOO!!!! Confession is the first step to restitution. Please, don't let this happen again. ;) We were actually just enjoying some friendly banter with the owner of Knifecenter the other day at SHOT. He's a great guy, but I'm fairly certain he doesn't back up his sales with a "make all your dreams come true" guarantee. Neither do we, but maybe someday we will... all the more reason to shop with us. Cheers!

    I would be more excited if it was a little bit lighter. The Spyderco has a larger blade but is lighter. Maybe I'll get one down the road, but right now I'm not too excited. I'll stick with my Delica/Griptilian pairing for now

    I can tell you for a fact it is a coincidence. If you only knew how long it takes for all this to come together. This knife has been in the works for10+ months.It takes a while to put a project like this together.

    I won't disagree with that. I don't own any knives that aren't made in the US, although to be fair I don't really currently have any production knives. The para 2 is one of the all time great prodo knives, but my experience has been that the Taichung made knives have better F&F than Seki or Golden made knives. I think if you ignore COO and consider quality and level of materials, the Southard is still a good deal. Only reason I'm not getting one right now is I already have a custom AWT.

  • @DonnieCallister

    It says on your website it's 3.05". The 300-1 is 3.16".
    Are they really different in length? If so, why? thought it's just a different grip color.

    Is it really that difficult to open it without a flick? I figured the strong detent of the axis lock would make it fly out.

  • @BladeHQShorts
    @BladeHQShorts  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This one was a first production run. Typically Benchmade prints the number of the first 1000 on the blade, theoretically making it more collectable. At the end of the day, it's all a cutting tool, right?

  • @MrTyleryates
    @MrTyleryates 11 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @ntstick06

    mine flips open just fine, i just got it in hand and have no problems with the flipper

  • @kodiak690
    @kodiak690 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got mine and it is possible to open without a flick but you have to pull straight down very fast and hard on this one. It almost needs a flick to feel right. What's the difference anyway. If he wants to flick it then flick away. It is not at all like the Southard whih needs very little to open. The angle of the flipper on the 300 is very different compared to the Southard.

    I bought this one online for just over 100 I couldnt find a southard anyless than 250 anywhere. That being said the southard is a nice knife, and I might pay that price if it was made in seki city but I just cant bring myself to pay that much for a knife made in Taiwan

    I wouldnt say its a spyderco copy. I think the spyderco is priced way too high for a foreign made blade. I own more spydercos than any other brand and I am getting this over the Southard

  • @ntstick06
    @ntstick06 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Different strokes for different folks I guess. I prefer US made blades, and all I am saying is the Southard is the price of 2 paramilitarys and the paramilitay is a much better knife. Just my opinion

  • @JDxBiUE
    @JDxBiUE 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Personally I prefer the kind of flipper the ZT 560 has, how it's thin and long. I don't like the wide flipper thing this knife has.
    I could also do without the grooves cut into the handle that shows the two-tone.

      Kevinthewiseone this is an old comment, but they are now out of print. Not sure as of when. I have a carried but only gently used one (semi-serrated) and would consider parting with it for the right price. I want the Spyderco Smock badly, but this thing in this condition will just increase in value. I’m trying to convince myself not to let it go.......:/
