Also, the closest I've come to any of this glory is driving my 1997 EJ8 Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC with a GT3582R turbo that makes 709 whp. The best I've ever gotten it to run on the 1320 is a 10.19 @ 148 mph on some M/T small slicks.
Fraction of the cost of a sequential, faster at the track and the street, easier on the drivetrain (less service needed), does better skids, and alot nicer to drive on the street and especially nice in a traffic jam thus more practical...why even mess with a sequential if going fast in a straight line is your goal?
If it's a very peaky power band and only has power between 8-10,000 rpm or so, a 6 speed sequential may be better as the gear ratios can be closer together while still maintaining the top speed, so the car stays in the power band Whereas with a 2 or 3 speed auto, the rpm might drop a lot more, taking the car out of its powerband So for something like a 3.2L turbo RB or a V8 where there's plenty of torque from the midrange onwards, an auto is better. But say it's a smaller engine, like a naturally aspirated K series or a turbo B series etc, where the power is only made at high rpm, a sequential may be faster overall as the car stays in its best rpm range. There are clutchless boxes too, however they cannot shift back down so useless for a street driven car.
@@quest8795 Bro, you need to learn how Hi Stalls work. Doesn't matter how "peaky" it is, a Hi Stall of the right size with a built auto is pretty much the only way to go. You try consistently slip a clutch with that much power and see how long the clutch itself lasts- and it's fairly inconsistent. A Hi Stall equipped auto on the other hand launches like it's come out of a slingshot- all while applying the power smoothly to the tyres, no sudden shock loads to deal with (which CAN be managed, but it's hard on an unprepped surface)

Americans are running 6s on a h pattern (not street cars)in stick shift classes which is far impressive compared to Autos ofcourse, even if autos are on sub 6s,i think Australians should implement that on the gtrs, making them true to what they really are

A well built TH400 or Glide is still not cheap
