This demographic, in general, does not need relief donations. It’s tragic relative to how they live their lives and the irreplaceable items lost, and loss of life if any (we haven’t heard of any from Palisades), and they certainly are devastated. But we don’t have to talk about third world countries to help give them perspective, the middle class and poor are just a stone’s throw from the affected neighborhood and could use donations more. It would be helpful if the displaced rich pitched some tents in downtown L.A. and lived with the homeless for a while. The #1 cause of strife in the world is Financial Crime. That said, we wish those who’ve lost their homes a smooth transition to re-establish their affluent lifestyles.

Just as devastating is the Eaton fire which has pushed down by the wind from the foothills into the usual 'grided', flat neighborhoods you associate so cal with.

Because I know that in a hurricane if you have 70 to 100 mph wind gusts it really does a lot of damage. We had close to 100 mi an hour wind gusts from hurricane Wilma in this area of Florida back in 2005, and there was a considerable amount of damage to buildings. I'm just trying to gauge it in my mind how bad the wind storm was compared to other wildfires where there was wind involved.

Wouldn't the super wealthy invest in their own firefighting equipment and indoor sprinklers to defend? Even just regular people (non-celebs) in certain dry areas have to buy their own fire fighting equipment, at times. It is not uncommon for people who live in areas prone to drought and high temperatures to have their own firefighting supplies, such as a nice big truck with water tanks and pressure hoses.
