      Rough translation:
5:25 You can buy coffee beans at Costco. After you pay, you can find a machine at the exit that can help you grind the coffee bean into powder.
9:20 We call that bird “Big stupid bird”. And the ceiling in your bathroom doesn’t have ventilation fan, so it’s kind of normal it gets mold in Taiwan.

Girl, you are missing out one of the best things in Taiwan, that’s breakfast shops, eating should be the best experience there! Remember: all you have to do is asking anyone who passes by, direction is on your lips.
Snap a picture of that bathroom ceiling, your landlord should handle the problem, they are usually very attentive, very quick to respond. You are not expected to solve this problem yourself!
Finally, get a portable dehumidifier (除溼機), it will improve the quality of your life tremendously.

To the question you mentioned at 8:30 in this video,ya,you’re right. And tell you a little more about it:Well, you might already noticed that the members are basically elders. They take it as neighborhood social activity(just for aged people only😂).And it’s quite normal across entire country.
And the food delivery stuff.Hmm...you’ve been ripping off for a while,I guess.Coz both foodpanda and UberEats charge restaurants 25-35%.Ex:if 100 is the price you get your food your own, then 125-135 +40=165-195 is what you have to pay for using their app.
Finally.....GO BREAKFAST SHOP!I’m sure you egg pancake roll will BLOW YOUR MIND😂(if you don’t know the keyword, pick anyone below and search it on your google map:”Qburger”,”美而美”,”呷尚寶”,”美芝城”,”豆漿”.)

Hello - I found your channel through Wes Davies. Like the vlog format. My wife and I moved here (Taipei) in 2013 from New Jersey. Ask any questions on your vlog and I’m sure other expats will answer. For example: the milk is spoiled, that is mold on the ceiling, and you can get much better coffee than 7-11 at any number of coffee shops (85c, Louisa, Cama, Peter Better, etc.) for about $NT 65. You can also buy freshly roasted beans in those places and they’ll grind them to order for you. Also, if you hear an ice cream truck outside don’t grab spare change and run outside because it’s a garbage truck (I actually did that).

I think that's mold on the ceiling, you can use scouring pad scrubbing with soap, or bleach with water. However, it might be high enough and be careful not to fall down when you do the work. Also, if the bathroom is without a window, or no air circulating to go out, the mold might come back at anytime, since it's humid inside.

The clapping noise that you posted from the exercise group while you walked in the park, actually it is recommended by some traditional Chinese doctors to punch their legs to stimulate the blood circulation. They said that lots of acupuncture points and the blood valves in the legs, that were considered as the “second heart” of the body. Therefore, they believe that if a person is getting old, the legs are the first ones to go down the hill. It is very common to hear some Taiwanese people said that: 「人老腿先老」!

Some small tips about saving money at 7-11….Most sandwiches/rice balls can go with a hot/cold medium size americano/latte (or other drinks showed on the note nearby) at the price 55/65, just pay attention to the stickers on those food, it’s a good deal. Also, sometimes 7-11 has this coffee discount “buy 1 get one free”, ask the staff if you can pay and deposit those coffee (寄杯) there. Good luck! Taiwan is really fun and convenient

Try to keep your bathroom dry after showering and be careful using bleach to clean mold, use protected gear, gloves, masks, etc. Lastly, no one really knows what happens to those park benches at night...cough cough >.

I actually applied to the ETA Taiwan for this upcoming cycle. What have you loved most about your time so far? And, does the Fulbright stipend allow you to live comfortably or is it tight? How is the Fulbright community in terms of meetings others and making friends? Love you girlie!!
