Hot springs are amazing. Our family's favorite. Usually people go to the hot springs in the winter, when it is cold outside. 😉 😂 If you get a chance to go again, most places have "family rooms" that you can request. They are private hot spring rooms so you and your group can enjoy in your bathing suits. Also, Green Island is one of three natural salt water hot spring spots in the world. The hot springs there are awesome because you can float in the hot ocean water, right on the edge of the beach.

Kristi, I have so enjoyed your videos. A while ago I committed to teach overseas and have been able to relate to your experiences, especially the early videos of you first arriving in Taiwan. God bless you and your willingness to serve Him. Be encouraged that you are making an impact. I look forward to seeing many more of your videos in the future. I will keep you in my prayers as you transition back to the US. FYI, from experience, reverse culture shock is a real thing. Give yourself time and grace as you get back into your life in FL. Some people won't get it, some will. But it's all worth it. Zeph 3:17

Texas is usuallly the number 2 rice producing state in the USA, that looks a lot like the fields around Hilji Tx planted in Rice. (in Texas they get two harvests from each planting/ Gulf Coast weather I guess)
on the Hot Springs, yes, absolutely a good thing to do. Lots of fun to learn the rules of the hot spring. There are some out in Nature too, inside river beds (only been to one of those once), The one close to where I lived during my first six months in Taipei (Beitou) was really a public place to wash up and soak in the hot spring, almost zero chance of you ending up there though. *might not even be there anymore since that was 1990
**don't wait a long time to return to Taiwan, but if you are back during the hot season go to the SUAO Cold Springs south of YiLan, my wife and I cooled off there in a Japanese style private room on our trip during August 2018. Very nice to "Chill Out" and Cool Down during the hot weather. *also only one of two places on the entire planet where the water comes out fizzy on a cold spring.

Types of hot springs are different according to their mineral composition. The one of Beitou-Yang-Ming San is sulfur hot spring. So sulfur in the hot spring interacts with metallic stuff, like your ring, turns them into dark color. If you had gone to the one in Yilan, which is a bicarbonate hot spring, your ring would have been fine.

Wooohooo, you have completed everything in your bucket list of Taiwan, Miss Kristi, especially the heart shaped opened bench sides to the sea.
Made your dreams and goals come true.

The bridges are curved for 2 reasons
    1) Chinese style bridges are not straight but slightly curved
    2) the curvature helps to maintain the structural integrity of the bridge
