I have to say I've really been enjoying all of Ben's commentary for this event. The more I see, the more I like it.
Smart, full of information, just a little quirky, and I don't feel like I'm being yelled at by some over-caffeinated freak who's trying to convey excitement and passion by running up the volume and spewing a lot of nonsense. It's beyond refreshing.

Yeah. Went on Roots&Rain to check his sector times compared to others and without the mistake he was probably on for 2 second margin over Finn

how about Miriam got saved by a tree at the edge of the trail. She lost her front wheel and was going down. Then her wheel hits a tree and got pushed back on track.

The problem with "had this mistake not happened..." is, in this case, you can say the same about the pretty massive double slipper Aumaury had up top, that cost him more than a second, maybe two. And therefore we know to not go there. The winner won because the winner was fastest. The clock doesnt lie. 😉
Yeah boy, that was a serious kick Aumaury had and recovered, easily that cost him 1.5 seconds.
@@lynxg4641 when you watch his POV race run, it looks like he almost completely stalls after the tree and takes a different line than he initially wanted because of that. It really underscores the beastmode he switched on after that...

Watching the Redbull TV coverage, Elliot and Rob were discussing 'why are the French riders so fast?' and mentioning how the French riders do a lot of steering from the back - kinda what motoGP riders do by backing the rear wheel into a turn, sliding it and getting into the turn faster than by just steering from the front - exactly what Vergier was doing in that very corner - he just got it a little 'off' and slid the back out......
Wonder what Ben has to say about that?
Very interesting topic. The fastest bunch of french riders really seem to do something differently to anyone else, regarding riding position. I've been trying to figure it out for a couple of years now but it's so hard to tell what they're doing. Differences are really small in posture and riders move really fast after all.
Actually I think after watching this race that Finn might have cracked the code as well, his riding looks very different to last year. I'd assume a huge part in keeping that posture is core fitness and Amaury, Loic, seem to be ahead there.
What do you think? I'd like to discuss this more, did I miss something?

I feel like the very last right / left S bend just above the finish line was a bit of a separator. Lots of riders were coming close, then seemingly blowing it there.
