This is definitely one of the long pole switches of all time
it is indeed a switchy switch
i recommend trying out hyacinth v2
@@johnathanchan6590those are EXTREMELY loud and clacky, sesames are muted and poppy
Stem wobble is one of the biggest factors of switch feel to me. I was shocked after getting a switch tester early on in the hobby and trying some of the premium switches seeing how much wobble they had. I now tend to look towards box style stems or check stem wobble comparisons. Like my switches to feel rock solid and tight.
solid and tight, SIR YES SIR
Surprised to see someone else also hold this opinion. I too really hate stem wobble, and have as such gravitated to dustproof/box steam switches. Definitely feels way better if the keys don't wobble around.
from the first set of box switches, never again looked at the "old switches", currently putting on all my keyboards haimu white tactile and feeling that I've found my "sweet spot"
The first batch of V2s released it was so scuffed. Switches were overlubed and oil pooled up at the bottom making the switch sticky and oil was also coming out of the switches. James at Invokeys the GOAT tho. He offered full refund or full replacements, best part was you get to keep the switches you ordered. Second batch was definitely better. Out of the 90 I ordered, maybe like 5-8 were overlubed and sticky.
Matcha latte's rock so if these are as good or better, they must be great!
Agreed! I've been unable to switch from matchas for so long. Just ordered some black sesames and I'm really exited!
I can also vouch for the Black Sesame's. I've got them on a Corsa right now and they feel and sound incredible. Absolutely well worth the price IMO.
Great video I just got done lube my red switches for a woimer lol. Ill have to check these out. I got few boards coming for a vid. S k 71 womier and Yunzii AL7. I Just mod the GMK 67 to omg sounds so good and thocky lol gave a like
Isnt the idea that shorter keystrokes being a negative an objective statement? You did sorta follow up with how its all due to preference but thats still back to back contradictory points.
Im still mixed on long poles and have defaulted to using them for now, but i havent had a good switch that bottoms out on the stems without the use of dampening of some kind.
Ive even experimented with the 'trampoline' mod and do prefer that with no long stems so far especially if i want to get around having an o ring on my keycaps for some reason.
some people prefer shorter travel - long poles are popular now. i prefer to use full travel and bottoming out on rails
how does this affect the rolly thing legacy
IT WILL LIVE ON
in 2-3 weeks
Appreciate the video and the opinions, it's nice to hear from someone who has access to many different types of boards. Around 6 min in you just start saying the same things you've already said though. Just felt like I was watching you purposefully stretch out the video by the end. Nevertheless an interesting take on the meta long poles. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll work on being more concise. I just wrote a bad script this time lol. Didn't intend to drag anything out
Could you/anyone compare these with BSUN X?
These are more muted and poppy than Bsun x, better factory lube but more expensive; X is clackier and, a much lighter spring by 12 grams, and cheaper by about 19 cents a switch I think.
Actually, I tend to like box stem for the increased stability and less wobble. I'm now just wanting a switch with box long pole and super smooth P3/UMWPE material
U could buy a switch that’s long pole and get a single ( either stem or either housing) piece of switch from Wuque studio mm switches (they have umhwpe and p3) and put them together much easier and cheaper than true Frankenseitching
@@poppy69420 unfortunately the stem needs to be longer to make it work. Not the switch housing and unfortunately Wuque did not ask Jwick to make a long pole variants of their MM stems. Otherwise I'd be Frankenswitching them right now
I still wonder why we havent tried making a regular travel switch, and instead of making the pole longer we make the sliders shorter? It should have the benefit of the sound, and the travel isnt as abrupt although still on the sharper side. I've only seen 1 switch that might have attempted it though not confirmed which is the akko snow blue greys which are a full travel switch but have a very loud and shart sound similar to a long pole but has the feel of a short pole and it feels really good.
Try the Hyacinth v2u, it’s full travel and still bottoms out by pole
@@phucvu5449 sounds fun, Ill try when I can
Neon and yang switches suck big time for me now…also getting bored of bsun switches
What are your favourite normal/short pole switches in 2023?!
i won't use anything but long poles switches, since OG HP's. either linear or tactiles.
so...3.3mm etc is called long pole, and 4mm is called short pole, right?
i had to read that twice, but i'd call it regular pole not short pole haha
Really appreciate the explanation about the stem and bottom out of the switch because I don't know much about where to lube the switch to improve the sound
Have you tried any gaming with them I was always under the impression that long poles arent good to game with so Ive never copped?
you just get used to the travel distance. technically you'd actuate faster since it's less travel.
Those are the people that made pink robins and laughing gas right? Love the robins the laughing gas sound dope but are really over lubed
Yes. I feel like the lubing on pink robins was a little heavier as well. I’m not sure how much input invokeys has on the lube application since KFA ordered pink robins and invokeys ordered matcha lattes and now black sesame. These don’t sound overlubed tho fwiw
How do these stack up to something like Baby Raccoons?
prob very similar i wouldn't own both of them
Gateron sound vs aflion sound, slightly diff plastics but otherwise almost identical spec
@@AndyVNguyen Thought so. Also, do the black sesames have any interference with cherry profile caps in north facing position?
@@locolamano. The long pole stem negates that.
I'm so tired of all the corny switch names. When can we just go back to blue, red, and black??
Too many switches to just name them colors
Who cares if the box stem looks ugly? You can’t see it…
Lmao tru
Did you fall off the rolly thing
i'm just trying to be drafted by the nba
Also, how would you compare cherry MX blacks to Jwicks blacks and SP star? They're all full nylon, opaque and on the clacky side but I havent found a good comparison anywhere.
Mx blacks, sp star gray housing white stem, Jwick black. From clackiest to deepest . Different manus have different plastic breakdowns
@@AndyVNguyenthanks. Probably gonna try sp stars then as I don’t want to break in mx blacks or buy them broken in cause they’re expensive.
Just nabbed 90 of these excited to try them!
im almost curious enough now to cop tbh
i'm surprisingly getting better accuracy typing with long pole now.. man what is happening
Will these switches have more of that clacky, marbly pop on fr4 or alu plate and with which foams installed (on a neo 65)? Great review with all the pros and cons, was waiting for a review on this switch so I could pick between this and gateron summertimes which are a lot clackier, but I still can’t decide. I like sesame sound more but dislike travel distance on it whereas summertimes I still do like sound, but not the weight much😢
with foams itll prob be marbly. it leans a littttttle deeper
Dude this is so random but its exactly the position I’m in. I’ve got a neo 65 and I’m deciding between the gateron summertimes and the black sesames.
Bcp on spacebar is the best
andy flexing on us with his cycle7 :(
unironically one of my favorite sounding/feeling boards. the enter stab kinda sus rn but that's the worst of it
Dogege first
congratulations
Kengratulations@@AndyVNguyen
sorry
"might be our future" fym??? zakus and black sesames were last last seasons normie meta :|
tru but i was fighting it forever
how about just thinking about what sounds you like instead of trying to look at it like a video game with trends you need to conform to to "win" in the "meta" lmao
fair enough @@AndyVNguyen 👍
i was just wondering why he used such wording. @@Missingnin69 how you know what i do or don't 😂 i aint even ever said "win". something can be meta without it being "a video game".
@@Laughadaffadil it can, but I still think "meta" as signifying social trends with regards to art or hobbies is dumb. It promotes the idea that our individual preferences don't matter as much. I'm not saying you're suggesting we should all conform to this trend, I'm just saying even identifying it as a trend is weird af. People use all kinds of keyboards out there, unless you have an empirical survey or sales data you can't say that somethings "meta" just because a few mates in a shitposting discord or reddit0rz started using it more.
Long pole gang
i kinda get it now fs fs
