Thanks for the video OJ, Donkey Kong is my favorite Nintendo character.. The original DKC on the SNES is like the most nostalgic game ever for me and is still my favorite DK game today..
I want them to revive Donkey Kong Racing. Had Microsoft didn't get Rare back in 2002 then we would've had a full-on indirect sequel of Diddy Kong Racing.
DKC2 was easy favorite for me. Dixie and Diddy such an excellent duo. Music is what I call best OST album in all of gaming. And of course, the numerous animal friend stages.
If they don't have a 3D DK lined up soon, they should at LEAST remaster DK 64. It really wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. They'd only need to modernize the graphics and remove the character-specific collectables so any Kong could grab them. Plus the DK rap is a beautiful thing. We have solid 2D AND 3D options for Mario, Zelda, Kirby, & Metroid... it's DK time IMO.
I just want SOME sort of new DK. I do think that a 2D is probably the most likely. I also don't care what the format is, I just need King K. Rool to make a return. He's the GOAT DK villain. DKC2 is still one of my favourite games of all time, so naturally it's my favourite DK game.
Nintendo remedied both 2D Zelda and Mario & Luigi with brand new entries at roughly 10 years a piece since the last games so it seems now is the time for DK to shine after a decade+ now with no new game release... with Wario Land going on 15 years without a new game and a slew of other Nintendo IP as well that should also be revived on Switch 2... but DK is my most anticipated pick, whether it's a new 2D or 3D game... I'll take either at this point!
I feel like this would be a phenomenal route to go but Nintendo would rather neglect DK: They release two games. I’d imagine they would be anywhere from 1-2 years apart like this: - Donkey Kong 3D Country (2026): Or whatever title for this! It would be like a Mario Odyssey esc playstyle but still feel like DK! It would be Switch 2 exclusive for $70. - Donkey Kong Country (2028): A remake of the original DKC game that brings everything back and fine tunes and modernizes some things! Additionally, the graphics wouldn’t look like Tropical Freeze or whatever but instead would look like the original game if it wasn’t pixelated, so kind of gritty and in this color scheme similar to the initial 3D renders from Rareware. This would be a smaller title as the original game isn’t too big and they could easily get away with $60 and if they don’t want it to be cross gen then $70 would even flourish even for such a short game. From here, based off the performance of the games they could do a follow-up to each of these titles! It would be ideally that they both get a follow up: - DK Discovery or Whatever Title (2034): So we would get the 3D Country game in the relatively early status of the second switch so I’d imagine the follow-up title would be like what’s happening with Mario Odyssey and this game is early for the 3rd gen switch or whatever else is next and if the last one did good then maybe this is a launch title even! This would be a full blown open world game! It would bring back all the classic Kongs rather than being restricted. I’d imagine a cast of DK, Diddy, Dixie, Cranky, Funky, Swanky, and Wrinkly and maybe 3-5 of them are playable in some way! It would probably be $80 as it’s likely each generation from now on will face a $10 increase. - Diddy’s Kong Quest (2031): Just 2-4 years after the first remake we could get a remake of the second game still on the same system! It would also be in that $70 range and would probably be even better than the first! I wouldn’t imagine they would go onto do the third game as it’s the worst performing one and has the harshest community feedback and would be super late into this system or rushed by the time it releases. But, they could also probably do a $100 bundle of DKC+DKQ even! I think it’s important that as remakes the first one is just called ‘Donkey Kong Country’ and the second one throws off the intro to the title and it’s just ‘Diddy’s Kong Quest’ and in credits and such the year would be referred to distinct them from the originals. This would be so great! I wish we could get this! I wish we could get a DK game every year! Or at least every 3-4 years even if 50% of them are side spin offs! Can’t we even just get one really good phone game or something? This generation all we got was a port of Tropical Freeze that went from the originals $50 to $60 when there is little to no new content and games should be discounted like this should be $50 if not $40 even tho $50 is understandable as it was only 4 years old. And then secondly is just Returns HD at $60 which is absurd too as you could get the selects version of this game on 3DS and Wii for just $20 and even then, the game on Wii was $50 and was discounted to $40 for the 3DS! They are pretty much putting in no effort and people have analyzed it to find many graphical portions being worse in the trailers! And trailers are supposed to be the best looking clips! It would be one thing to charge $40 for it and it to be a half decent port but this is a pretty garbage port more expensive than the game has ever been! Tropical Freeze should’ve launched at $50 and now while it doesn’t have to have a ton of new stuff it should’ve gotten maybe like 2 or 3 small updates after launch to improve some features of the game like one every 4 months for a year AND those who owned the game on the Wii U just 4 years earlier should’ve been prompted a 50% Off Coupon or something along those lines. Returns HD should have genuine effort put into it, maybe they add Dixie Kong or something, and it should be $40! If I’m gonna have to wait until the end of the Switch for this game why can’t it be good?! Now us getting scammed out of any DK games this generation that hurts. But if you are just gonna do two ports, can’t you at least do a good job? Or at least do a good job pricing them? If you are going to absolutely screw us over the least you could’ve done was put out these games for less than $60. I love these games but it is immoral for them to be able to get away with charging this much for 10+ year old games when Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey will cost me the same price right now!
Tropical Freeze is my favorite game of all time and my favorite DK game. As for what’s next… something! No clue if it’d be 2D or 3D, but with how they’ve been pushing DK as a brand lately, between the movie, Returns, the theme park, Mario vs Donkey Kong, they’re doing a lot with the series. So I have to imagine a new game is in the works. I’d personally prefer a 3D game just because there’s a lot of potential to do something new and interesting there.
Hard to guess on this one but I do think we'll be getting something new soon. Donkey Kong is clearly a new focus for them if he got his own section of the theme park. Realistically it'll likely be a new Donkey kong country game but you never know they could be trying the forgotten land treatment with Donkey Kong.
I truly think they're going to add DK to the next 3D Mario for splitscreen/local co-op and push the local play with the extra power from Switch 2. Then they'll do something else for only DK after.
Wow. I got here when it said 4 mins ago! This is a supa hot vid! DK is usually good with what Nintendo does with it. Tropical Freeze but OG DKC is still great!

What is your favorite Donkey Kong game of all time?
Donkey Kong country on the SNES is still my favorite, but DK is my dude no matter what platform. Definitely need a new game soon.
Thanks for the video OJ, Donkey Kong is my favorite Nintendo character.. The original DKC on the SNES is like the most nostalgic game ever for me and is still my favorite DK game today..
Tropical Freeze overtook DKC 2 to be my favorite. But I love them all, my favorite 2d platformers.
DK 64
DKC2

Dixie Kong in Smash Bros. is well overdue.

I would love to get a HD remaster of the SNES Rare games on the side along with a new DKC game.
I would love another 3D Donkey Kong game.

I feel like DK will get a push in 2025 but only because it’ll be apart of the even bigger push Mario will get for his 40th anniversary
Mario and DK will be 44 next year.
The true Project 2025
Excellent and well thought out options for the next DK! But I am even more hyped for 4K Mario on launch day.
I am so ready for more DK!
A remake of the first dkc would be crazy or just a new dkc ill take anything at this point 😭

I HAVE NOSTALGIA FOR DK COUNTRY BUT TROPICAL FREEZE IS A TECHNICAL MASTERPIECE
Tropical Freeze is definitely my favorite
I think retro were making their third game but Metroid took priority.

Hopefully DKC from Rare in HD
I’m excited about DKCR hd because RGT hates it lol
Donkey Kong dual screen game and watch is the only game I owned😅
The way Donkey Kong handles in Tropical Freeze is wack. I’ve hated it since launch.
