Have you tried the ironing technique. It virtually comes out perfectly. You apply your glue substance first over top of the dresser and let it dry. Then you place your paper on top of the dry sealer. Put parchment paper over top of the paper and use an iron. Work from the middle and work your way out. It is the way people taught it in the 70s. It is amazing.

The quilter didn't design or create the material used ,however the quilts they make from it are their on piece of art.

I got married when I was sixteen, my first decopodge project, I decopodged my marriage license to a piece of plywood, that had been cut around the edges scalloped. I then used polyurethane to adhere it and coat the top. It was absolutely beautiful & I never had any trouble, possible because I didn't know any rules to decopodge. Lol

You can also print on parchment paper if you want to personalize something! Also, you can apply modge podge liberally and let it dry completely. Then you take your print, cover it with parchment paper and iron over it until your print sticks. This will stop the problem with bubbling and creasing during application. You can add modge podge on top to seal or use polycrylic.

The trick to heavy paper Debbie is, packing tape. You use it on the backside put tape and peal off. It works for photos. Takes off a layer and makes it thiner. I have not tried with a poster but its a great way to use photos . ❤️

So glad to see this video, I love all of your edited ones they are so fun and you always have great tips. Here's my tip: if you haven't tried the iron-on method of decoupage you are missing out - total game changer! Basically paint 2x coats of mod podge on your surface. Let dry completely (i.e come back tomorrow). Lay your tissue paper design (or rice paper but the thinner the better) on top, set an iron on top (play with the settings to see how high you need) - no steam. The heat reactivates the mod podge turning it into glue just enough to grab the paper. 100% no wrinkles ever. Search on youtube lots of people have posted about this, I had huge troubles with decoupage til I tried it this way.

I’m so happy you tried this again! I’m an artist and I love doing mixed media paintings with collage. I could tell by the way you apply transfers that you are naturally good at collage.
The only reason Marilyn Monroe gave you such a headache is because it was one large image that needed to look intact. Big pieces are hard to manage. I love the papers, but you can use any papers as long as you tear or cut them into smaller pieces, then it’s easy to avoid wrinkles. If papers are slightly heavier you can also peel back a layer. This would be impossible on an oversized image but again, if the elements are smaller it is manageable.
You can also use your liquid patina on both sides as you go. Basically, as a glue like you did and then go over the top of each piece as you’re working, which seals it in and keeps edges down. I loved how this turned out!
The only other tip I could offer is that sometimes torn edges are softer and integrate easier. You could always use white tissue paper (or any color) to fill in background areas if you are using slightly thicker paper and want the surface to be integrated without obvious strong edges you might get with thicker paper.
I’ve bought a whole bunch of the DIY paint and brushes over this past year, but I haven’t started painting yet! When I do, I hope to incorporate collage.

I have only ever used mod podge as my adhesive medium but have used a variety of papers and fabrics on wood, glass and cardboard. I find the absolute best method for me is to paint with the glue, allow to dry, add a second coat, allow to dry then iron the pattern on. This has worked well for me and I haven't had any problems with wrinkles, bubbles or non-adhesion. I finish with a third coat of mod podge and allow a few days to dry. I don't gift my items for thirty days to ensure the glue has fully cured to prevent damage after gifting. Need to be careful with the heat on glass though. I have only used thick flat glass in this way.

Beautiful use of Jami and Zeb's new papers. I would of never thought all those papers would look so good together. TFS
