Well Galadriel's voice was "deeper than woman's wont." The emotion is perfect, though. I personally it might be sung like this by Arwen during her last days in Lorien, after Aragorn died, and all of her other relatives other than Eldarion and her daughters had permanently sailed West.
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold And leaves of gold there gaily grew Of wind I sang, a wind there came And in the branches blew Beyond the sun, beyond the moon The foam was on the whisp'ring sea And by the strand of Ilmarin There grew a golden tree Beneath the stars of Ever-eve In Eldamar it brightly shone In Eldamar beside the walls Of Elven Tirion There long the golden leaves have grown Upon the vast and branching years While here beyond the Sundering Seas Now fall the Elven-tears O Lórien! The winter comes The barren, cold and leafless day The leaves are falling in the stream The river flows away O Lórien! Too long I've dwelt Upon this far and hither shore And in a fading crown have twined The golden elanor But if of ships I now should sing What ship would come, would come for me? What ship would bear me ever back Across so wide a sea? But if of ships I now should sing What ship would come, would come for me? What ship would bear me ever back Across so wide a sea?
Galadriel is 1 of my favorite characters and I always felt a bit sad for her. This song fits her perfectly in my opinion! Thanks for putting it together!
JRR Tolkien himself wrote it and it has a full Quenya version too. Thankfully we have many more channels nowadays who bring to life his poems and songs via music !
Absolutely beautiful! A stunning rendition of a masterful poem. Truly a pleasure to listen to. You're a gifted artist! I look forward to hearing your next piece.
What a good idea for a cover! Just beautiful! We are so inspired by all of the Lord of the Rings' songs right now! We just released a song called LORIEN, inspired by Galadriel's character, and it's a pretty different vibe. We love what you've released here! Lovely!
Maybe you’d like to try looking at Eurielle’s Lùthien’s Lament. And check out Karliene’s Tolkien Related poems and songs brought to life in song! Especially Tolkien Ensemble!
Good ol' Garageband ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I'm actually mulling over the idea of doing a Kickstarter to make a proper 'Tolkien covers' album in a proper studio, once I cobble together enough tune/poem combos)
One of my favourite versions!!! I'm now headcannoning that Galadriel sings this to her husband and any children who can't sleep. (she has children now)
Thank you for providing this song. I have been recently watching creepypasta videos and now i need to hear something good to cleanse the soul. This song somehow take you to a place warm and inviting. :)
Your voice's got such a sweet tone which is simply perfect for this kind of songs (I mean "noble maiden fair", I wonder how it would sound whether you sing it with its original lyrics, stunning I guess ;)) Congrats, you've created a wonderful piece to listen to :D

similar in tune to the version in the audiobook narrated by rob inglis. i really like his version, though he isnt a great singer. yours is absolutely lovely.
This is the tune to A Noble Maiden Fair from the Brave Soundtrack.
I still come back to this video, I listen to this all the time.
Galadriel is one of the saddest characters in the books or the movie. This is how she would have sung it, I think.

DemiseandGanon There are other elves or even men who had even more sadder and tragic endings than Galadrel. Though she did had quite a sorrowful life.
I use this as a lullaby..thank you so much for putting these words to this tune. I love it ❤
I can't express how beautiful this is. You've combined one of my favourite songs with the poetry of my favourite author. It's absolutely amazing~
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold
And leaves of gold there gaily grew
Of wind I sang, a wind there came
And in the branches blew
Beyond the sun, beyond the moon
The foam was on the whisp'ring sea
And by the strand of Ilmarin
There grew a golden tree
Beneath the stars of Ever-eve
In Eldamar it brightly shone
In Eldamar beside the walls
Of Elven Tirion
There long the golden leaves have grown
Upon the vast and branching years
While here beyond the Sundering Seas
Now fall the Elven-tears
O Lórien! The winter comes
The barren, cold and leafless day
The leaves are falling in the stream
The river flows away
O Lórien! Too long I've dwelt
Upon this far and hither shore
And in a fading crown have twined
The golden elanor
But if of ships I now should sing
What ship would come, would come for me?
What ship would bear me ever back
Across so wide a sea?
But if of ships I now should sing
What ship would come, would come for me?
What ship would bear me ever back
Across so wide a sea?
Beautiful!! The tune, the lyrics, and your singing, it's perfect. I never really understood this song until I read the Silmarillion.
Can you explain her story to me? :) I dont get a chance to read it ...

This is beyond amazing and beautiful! The poem and song fit so perfectly! Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic job! Very pretty!!! : - )
It fits because JRR Tolkien wrote it himself and thankfully many channels nowadays are bringing his poems and songs to life via music!❤

Hi Caty,
Your cover is wonderful! I was wondering where you found the instrumental track for this song because I've been looking everywhere and can't find any... :(
Well done! If I might recommend a "pop filter" (wiki it?), it would help alleviate the occasional cracks. Beautiful performance regardless!

You should record this again in better quality :)
beautiful song, exquisite lyrics... however, the audio quality was questionable, still. Thank you for uploading this!
