- I have now had the Reliant Regal cylinder head skimmed and will be reassembling it very soon. I also have a look at the new addition to the media blasting cabinet and see if the Cyclone dust collector is working. I also have a look at how I film my Retrohax videos.

good to see you back on your feet! At this rate, you'll be running the London Marathon dressed as Del boy while pushing a lawn mower...
I seriously admire your level of different interests. With the majority of people on TH-cam talking about themselves and pointless rubbish it's great to find someone who is entertaining, interesting and informative.
I would definitely enjoy sharing a few beers in your company sir.
I appreciate it, Do you know who I am lol
You certainly sound more spirited in this video. Glad you all are coming along well now. Just don't push yourselves too much yet. I always like to see a new video from you... Thumbs Up!
Thanks Gary, I'm getting there slowly.
Glad to hear your on the mend! Thanks for another fantastic video!
Cheers bud
great video martin glad your feeling better. looking forward too the trotter van videos.
Cheers Dave
Glad to see you getting back on your feet Martin and sharon😀
Thanks Col
Good to see you back mate 👍
Thanks Harry
it would be interesting to see how much dust actually got into the vacuum cleaner itself ?.
good to see and hear that you are slowly feeling better! missed your videos!! cheers henk from holland.
Thanks Henk
Wow, that cyclone dust collector seems to be a good bit of kit.
Looking forward to you using your media blasting cabinet (my favourite viewing).
Keep well Martin (and Sharon).
Thanks Barbara
Glad to see your getting a bit better and hope sharron is feeling better
Nice to see you up and about
Good to see you in better shape Martin, keep up m8 ;)
I’m glad you’re on the mend now Martin!
Thanks for the content/upload that engine is coming along quite nicely and that blast cabinet is working a treat
The old Reliant I had was a zenith carb. It was a 1968. But I had a Later Rialto and it had the 850cc it was an S.U carb It was a 1986 hope this helps you. And good to see you out making vids. Have a good one.😃😃
Cheers bud.
Well, you look better- bit of spring in your step, and eyes wide open. Bravo!
Hi Martin, The earlier Reliant Robin with the 748cc engine had a Zenith 30IZ carb. The SU was fitted to the later Robin which came with the 848cc engine.Reliant fitted the 848cc engine to the Robin in 1976/77.I believe you can fit the SU carb to the 748cc engine but you may have to tweak it to suit.
Good luck with it.Am looking forward to seeing more videos with your progress on the Trotter van.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks Bill.
Good update Martin. Tidy that blxxdy top shelf - it's driving me nuts!! Lol.

Martin, Some great tips and info i don‘t have a cyclone but a dust catcher but i think i will buy one. Glad your feeling a bit better. Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave, yes it seems to work well.
I did us a quorn roast dinner today, abs perfect and with carrots, green beans, cauli and brussels and a couple taters but not many and job was a good 'un :) I discovered too that Iceland's gravy is completely meat free so had a good dollop o' that and some bread n cheese sauce for the look of things hehe You should try the Quorn roast, its kinda like a bigger version of them Bernard Matthews mini roast joints and only £3 and it tastes as good as chicken, my daughters both say they prefer the quorn thing to proper chicken O.o
I'm on Keto Ian so meat and fat for me bud lol
That rust remover fluid you have is like the Evapo-rust that the is sold in the USA and that Evapo-rust is amazing, I've watched other TH-camrs using Evapo-rust and that stuff is water soluble and to buy that over here it's about £35 a gallon on eBay.
Cant beat the old lidles thinners ay mart 👌what mk11 cortina have you got ? A real one or model ?
Real one's are a fortune so its a model lol
Great stuff Murt your on the mend, another good watch🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Cheers Rog
Cant wait for the up and coming vids mate. Trotter van, dinky toys , etc . All the best mate. Bye for now.
Cheers Paul.
Question Martin if you don’t mind mate. (Ford transit)The chassis members. Would wax oil shop internal rust. If they have never been treated? I thinking off doing mine before all hell let’s loose under there. Then treat out side with rust killer. Hammeright . Then under sill what would be your thoughts please. I’m going on what you and others have done and how the members rust out. Thank bud.
@@paulelliott2861 That's a tricky one Paul as I don't think its a rust converter just a wax like coating to help stop rust getting to bare metal. If the rust is already there, I don't think it will stop rust but may slow down the spreading.
retrorestore thanks mate. I’ll do some research👍👍👍👍
Hi Martin glad to see your on the mend ! a roast without tat's and Yorkshire's not the same, made me hungry off for a scooby snack he he, ATB Wayne.
Good airbrush for you mate. Harder and Steinbeck are all interchangeable parts with other h/s airbrushes.
Good to have you back Martin. With regards to the spray gun what do you use to provide the Air for it and where did you get your kit from cheers Rob
I'll do a vid on that soon Rob
have you thought about getting the head ported and polished? My head was ported and polished on my vvc engine, after it was sent away to be corrected.
Your Cylinder Head looks similar to the A series Cylinder head get well soon Martin
The 750 Reliant engines had a Zenith 301Z carburettor fitted, I restored a mk 1 750 super Robin last year, great little car mine still has the original distributor and points fitted and they've never failed yet. I've also restored a couple 850 mk1 robins, fairly can notice a difference in power with the 850 compared to the 750 engine
Thanks for that bud.
You mean the evaporust in a big gallon container your right i have seen it but I'd love to see you review that stuff and see how good it actually is
Yes I may do that at some point.
Good info Martin.
Great vid Martin 👍
Cheers Jamie
I fitted a bespoke 45D electronic distributor to mine a few years back and its given solid service, cost about £60 off ebay and came with cap and rotor and instructions and was an absolute doddle to wire in and equally as easy to strobe up, can't remember if my one is Accuspark or Powerspark branding but the cnc milling on it was abs as good as Lucas. Not sure if the 750 uses the 45D or the other type 23d?, remember too that even tho it looks like a Mini dizzy, it runs the opp direction being anti-clockwise except I believe the 600cc Regal engines which apparently go clockwise. You wouldn't believe how many mechanics out there get the rotation wrong and then line up the firing order round the wrong way and the engine sounds like a beaten pig lol I would recommend a Lucas Gold sports coil and some fairly good aftermarket leads to get the best outta the engine. Will you be modding the inlet manifold to "port" it by die grinding out some of the manifold material allowing the fuel mix to swirl and enter into the inlet ports better and then polishing it to a high shine aka what we used to call stage 2? With that and a four branch exhaust from ol' Joe Mason will make it very frisky hehe They do cherry bombs for the Reliant as well if you want a bit of loud and rorty in your zorst ;)
Plenty of info to think about there Ian.
Good to see that you're on the mend. I miss the Shout Out Sundays. Will these be making a comeback?
Maybe when the weather gets better.
Love the vids Martin
look up a race formula called rebels racing, they race short ovals in the uk and run with the 850 cc reliant engine, they may have contacts for the reliant parts etc and what make of dizzy will fit the 750cc engine,
Neat update video.
Have you tried a citric acid solution for rust removal. Cheap to use and cleans and removes rust and carbon from brass and steel really well and re-use time and time again?
I have thought about it Kev
See u getting better good news 👍 I wish u lived localy I love too have you as my mechainc
You’re not gonna sandblast the head after you had it decked and boiled are you. What about new valve guides?
We want to se the Trotter!
Trotter van coming soon Jim.
I know this is very old video but do we know how much I expect to pay for used regal 3/30 cylinder head
Not really, sorry.
Do I spy the red lantern you restored earlier, next to the rocker shaft on the bench?
Well spotted lol
Ok we need to talk. No Yorkshire puddings!! Lol cant you sneak one in lol
Haha, You can't beat a Yorkshire pud Mick lol
i have used the mini metro distributor on all my reliants both 700 750 and 850cc s you also need the coill etc as there electronic ignition you may need to change the drive dog on the end which is driven by the engine as some metro ones are slightly diffrent from reliant ones but its a worthwile mod in my opinion as to carbs the 700 and 750 cc were never su carbs only the 850cc engines the 700 and 7fo had a downdraught carb flat fitted ontop of the manifold the su carb will not fit this manifold without modifying it to include an adapter from the 850 which lifts and turns the intake so the su fits oh the side but you also need to find or make an overflow plate for the fuel as if the su overflows it dumps hot fuel on the exhaust manifold and you have a fire alot of people removed this simple thin plate not knowing its importance only to find out the consequenses
Great info Charles, thanks
After watching you putting Brasso on that plastic windscreen on that toy car i tried it om my headlights and they have almost come up like new.
Nice one Michael
What do you think of hubnut's reliant engine? Different approach to yours so we will see how that goes.
I'd be concerned that the rear waterways were blocked on his engine especially as he had an issue with the rear cylinder when he did a compression test. I think I would have removed the rear plug from the block to see how clear the waterways are before he fits the engine.
It did start...sounded sweet but Mart's advice is the way to go...Let's hope he picks it up.
@@retrorestore send him a text. Can't hurt to share the concern. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
Thanks Martin!!
Good to see you!!
Martin you need a good rest in the Priory mate Roehampton Lane.LOL
Haha, Not at those prices lol
Is that thinners yuz uzing to purge your system😉😉😉😉😉ps martin do yu watch 'HUB NUT'he's just fired his reliant fox engine up on garage floor😊😊😊😊like you he is brilliant. ..cheers from dave
Thinners to purge what system bud? Yes I saw the Hubnut vid, it sounded good.
@@retrorestore 'you 'of your flu you had a can on shelf next yu 😉😉😉cheers from dave
@@caroldave4037 Haha, I see lol
You soaked the regal hinges in vinegar I remember it lol
Haha nice one Dan lol
Wealth of info and parts over on the reliant FB forum on Facebook.
also the engine won't fit your regal, that has the robin front plate fitted not a regal one
I've got the regal front plate.
@@retrorestore well you'll have to fit it or that current one won't line up with your chassis
Hello!
I know how you feel. I’m a janitor in a primary school and I’m presently full of virus. Yuck.
