Do you still have this? Whenever I start my car, it doesn't automatically start carplay. It'll take me to bluetooth audio. Do you have the same problem?
I like that you can watch TH-cam videos while you’re in park because when I get home I like to sit in my car and watch TH-cam in my driveway I didn’t know you could do that when I first got it I downloaded the car VA Assistan that I’m gonna try that tomorrow that’s pretty cool
My number one concern with replacing my factory head unit in my Tundra is that aftermarket units seem to have issues with echo and noise on phone calls with their mics. Any feedback on the quality of the phone mic on this unit?
Can you tell me how you got the mic working for audio calls and where did you place the mic. I am having trouble with my mic and my calls are not working well now. need help.
I guess I'm old school. I have a Pioneer touchscreen in my sedan but on it I use the SD card to play music files. I don't really use Google Play etc, and I think Bluetooth sound is lousy. Does the DMH WT8600NEX have SD card input for music files? I'm considering putting into a little 2-seater I have. ...thanks.
To get your car info (gauges, TPS, etc) did you have to hook up the OBDII wire? I noticed on the Maestro iDatalink install guide it says the OBDII wire is not required.
I also have a 2015 Subaru Legacy. Do you have the HK sound system? If so, was there anything special you had to do to make it work well with it? And how does it sound with the new HU? Also, if you could describe any special work that was specific to the car model, that would be fantastic! Thanks! :)
i do have the HK sound system. i didn't do anything special with the factory amp or sub, but i have noticed that there is a bit of crackle when i have the bass turned up and turn the volume up. ive been looking into possible reasons for this and haven't found much yet, but it's not an issue unless you're really blasting music. It was a pretty straight forward install, just need the dash kit and the su2 wiring harness for your idatalink. another sort of weird thing is that the backup camera shows a MUCH wider view now than it did on the factory unit. like i can literally see part of my license plate in my backup camera now. im guessing on the factory unit that it's zoomed in a little. hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions about it!
are you in an outback? I got a 2017 OB and have the Avic Nex 8600 and looking for something a little bigger. Do the features work for the steering wheel, rear camera? Could you maybe do a video showing off those features?
Been six months. No idea if you'll get a chance to respond. But do your OEM USB ports function still or do you have to use the units ports? Had a pioneer a while back and I had to use the USB extension cable with the unit.
Yea I dnt think you can, I even plugged in the micro to hdmi in the back, then I plugged up my lighting cable to that, and still couldn’t get the hdmi to work either.
First of all I wanted to say thanks for doing a review. I just bought this unit but have not installed it yet and had a couple of questions. What model steering wheel /can bus interface did you use with your unit? It has a plug on the back to make things easier but I'm not sure which one I should buy. Also how is the sound quality? I've had Android units and actually my other car has an Android unit with the DSP and it sounds pretty good but never as good as my last Pioneer unit. Any information would be great Thanks
Do they make any acc. Volume wheel that you can adjust the volume fast, instead of slow buttons under the glass? My steering wheel does not have any controls
I ordered it through abt electronics since they were shipping earlier than Crutchfield. The install wasn't much harder than the install of any other aftermarket head unit. I installed a head unit on my old car (without an idata link) and this one only took a few more hours than that one did. I think if you have a rough understanding of car electronics and how to connect wires you should be fine.
I just got this headunit and for some odd reason I cannot do the new firmware update. It says processing and just fails. Also my car won't sync into Carplay
if you look up your radio model number on ebay along with “parking brake bypass” and it should show up. for example for this one i typed in “dmh wt8600 nex brake bypass”. here’s the link for this one: www.ebay.com/itm/254476589430
This doesnt seem very responsive. Especiallly while you were trying to scroll through screens. And especially not compared to the dasaita 10.2. You didnt really dive into much of the headunits capabilities. But thanks for showing how the floating part looks...
Hi, was wondering if anyone has been able to get the micro HDMI in the back of the deck to get video source when connected to a phone and how it becomes available. Have connected HDMI but it won't let me select it o. The deck screen.
i haven't tried mirroring anything off my phone to the hdmi port yet, but i know that apps like Netflix and hulu often times recognize when you're trying to mirror something and block it, so that could be why.
subiecamper thanks for getting back to me, I figured out how to bypass the parking break by pressing on the screen for a specific time and pattern. Everything is working normal now.
Does this web browser and TH-cam work good??? I wanted an android unit for the apps and TH-cam and browser but they aren’t reliable so I was looking at this one!!!
It's definitely not as smooth as using the web browser on your phone, and in order to use a website, you first must set it as a favorite through the app, then sync it with the head unit. So far I've only used youtube and it has seemed pretty smooth. I know for a fact that Hulu and Netflix aren't supported in the browser. It's decent and it looks great on the big screen, but it's probably not something that ill use a lot. Hope this helps!
i haven’t used the HDMI yet. one thing i did notice is that it’s a “mini HDMI” so you would need an adapter if you wanted a chromecast to hook up to it
I have this unit as well i bought a micro hdmi to hdmi from Amazon and currently have a firestick connected to it the only problem is I can't get it to play while driving which is what I want i have a bypass installed to
@@2koolforyou88 have you tried if the secret bypass is still there? where you turn off and you push and hold the lower left screen like on the avic model
from the pictures that ive seen of that model, i dont think it would since Honda didn't use the traditional single DIN/ double DIN setup. that doesn't necessarily mean that it's impossible but you would have to do more research or take it to a professional to see if there's a way to make it work.
basically just go into the wifi settings and there's a bunch of prompts to go through hooking it up i think. i had a hard time figuring it out but the manual has step by step instructions on how to do it and that's what i ended up using to figure it out

Are u using ur factory backup camera. If yes how did u get it to work
Did you use my data link 1 or 2
have you had any issues with vent airflow being blocked?

Oh man i was so looking for an install video for this one. I’m planning to go the same route with my 2017 OB.
I guess I'm old school. I have a Pioneer touchscreen in my sedan but on it I use the SD card to play music files. I don't really use Google Play etc, and I think Bluetooth sound is lousy.

there is not an sd card input from what i recall.
Can you make a video on how well the hdmi works.
I just bought this and I’m waiting for it to deliver but is it supposed to look kinda laggy when swiping?
from my experience, the carplay isn’t laggy but the native interface can be a little laggy sometimes but definitely not enough to be a big fault.

subiecamper thanks for the reply! Is the factory microphone working too?
sorry for the delayed reply, but i use the pioneer microphone, not sure if the factory one works or not.
I know it has been way over a year but any update as to how this head unit is holding up?
are you in an outback? I got a 2017 OB and have the Avic Nex 8600 and looking for something a little bigger. Do the features work for the steering wheel, rear camera? Could you maybe do a video showing off those features?
Does this have android auto? I didn't see it in the menus
can you adjust reverse camera guidelines in the settings? 8400nex didn'thave this option :(

hey, the OEM USB ports do not work with this. They sell an adapter, but the adapter will not plug into this specific unit.
@@techbronco1234 alright thanks for the info!

using an hdmi you can
Need right cords but yes
Where did you get those clips to hold the cable? I’m assuming is the usb cable?
where put the cables ?
Is there a way to speed up the warm boot, I’ve see 13 secs as the standard, does the backup camera work if it’s not completed the boot,
What is the screen size, height, width depth? I already know it is 10.1" display.
Is the screen easily removed for anti theft purposes?
It does and doesn't bc of the four screws in the back but lets say u have a mini drill yea just will be doing more then wanted💯🤝
The car features are they through the obd port?

subiecamper is hooking up with iData any harder. Never really hooked an after market radio before
it’s definitely an extra step and requires more wiring but the wiring diagrams that they give you are pretty easy to follow
I just got this headunit and for some odd reason I cannot do the new firmware update. It says processing and just fails. Also my car won't sync into Carplay
Are you using CarAVassist?
I’m having the same problem, my CarAVAssist won’t transfer the download for the background even when I’m on my WiFi.

Crutchfield has adapters put in your car model and youll find it there.
How fast does it boot to your CarPlay dashboard when connecting wirelessly?
it's actually very fast i was pleasantly surprised. from the time i turn on the car, it takes like maybe 15 seconds for carplay to pop up
