SPOILERS: The fact that Junko is gone and not Sayaka shows how early of a concept this is, I'm sure the plot twist for the last trial is still there but then they decided they could construct a less suspicious red herring in the 6th trial by using Sayaka instead in the 1st and having Junko die right before to be less suspicious.
Nah, it’s apparently because Sayaka and Leon were the first 2 characters created, and their designs paved the way for the other character designs, and the devs were so sick of seeing them that they made it so sayaka and Leon were the first to die
The original Distrust was supposed to have so many different options with the Trust/Distrust system, where you essentially chose who to partner up with for investigations, resulting in other potential characters dying instead of the order in the full Danganronpa game. (Both executions and murders)
it does seem to be Mukuro who dies here, actually. if you go over to the page for Danganronpa's PSP release on tcrf.net, they have most of the sprites in this video (albeit with some different edits here and there on some characters), and you can see that even in the earlier sprites, Mukuro in disguise had more narrow eyes in her original sprite, and during this video you can see that on "Junko"'s memorial thing, she has more narrow eyes. i think the final argument slides were simply made before the designs for Mukuro's disguise and Junko were finalized as while it has larger eyes like Junko, it has the rabbit hair pieces that Mukuro has, as well as Mukuro's solid white tie from the early sprites.
For anyone curious about the music, Class Trial Dawn is "Cubitos de Hileo" by Ken Ishii/Funk D'void and Climax Reasoning is "Future Is What We Are" by Ken Ishii. Was very surprised to hear it used!
I was really hoping they'd make Distrust an actual game for the 10th anniversary (actual game as in being intact and built off of what was in the demo aka very dark, mature, bloody, Trust/Distrust system, multiple endings/multiple paths, same art style) I'm still hoping that they do it someday. Mukuro or idk (green haired Kyoko or Redhead Toko??) was probably the mastermind And not so hope-inducing cuz Junko here is completely innocent (she's also a mix of the twins, look at her bear hair pins and polka dot Necktie) In distrust, she's supposed to be another assistant of Makoto besides Sayaka cuz braided Kyoko dies (no hope for Junko cuz she died in early versions twice, sad villain backstory)
I really like the "participant roulette" at the beginning of the trial. I wish they would have kept it, since it would pair well with the casino theming of the voting time.

Junko being the mastermind was already decided at this point in development, as the the game files that retains most of the assets from this prototype still exists, including early character art of Junko. * Leon is the blackened according to the dialogue and that idea was carried over from DISTRUST, likely because they didn't want to waste his execution FMV. (Which in the final game it was only modified slightly when compared to the DISTRUST version.) * This footage uses early music of "Dawn" and "Turbulent". * Monokuma would have gotten his own seat near the students than having his own chair away from them. This would have benefited the game as the final build makes it that the seat is empty, which makes it obvious that there's a another student. * The panels seen for Climax Reasoning are still in the game files and thus can be seen on TCRF.

Leon probably killed Junko in beta (or mukuro they may have made Junko the mastermind again) I can tell because Leon got mad before the closing argument, and the culprit throws something.
I think this was the prototype of Danganronpa Distrust but was never released due to its gruesome elements. I looked up information about this and found it.
Distrust's character design was very different. This is the beta of Danganronpa but they improved it & decided to make Junko the antagonist instead (I believe kirigiri was originally going to be the antagonist).
