    Upgrading every year is insane to most of us out here. I would suggest that most of us are the ones with 5 or 6, even 7 or 8 year old drivers. I would like to see a video test taken from that perspectives and what you guys recommend. Enjoy your channel very much.

    I may be old school Ian but, for the SIM 2 you could always add a little lead tape to the base to get the same effect as the slider. I found for me, it worked wonders on my old driver. I just purchased the SIM in early December and already have seen the changes via the slider in the virtual golf testing. With hopes the virtual golf locations will reopen soon in Edmonton, AB and I can continue testing. My slider statistically and feel wise currently works best in a slightly heel position but, more data required. Great video guys.....

    I work in a pro shop, and I spoke with the Taylormade rep in October/November about the lack of toe weight. He was focused on how TM were advocating changing the loft to move ball flight, not the sliding weight. I was trying to explain about how the lack of sliding weight would affect CG alignment, and unfortunately he just wasn't getting it, so I had to give it up. (Not that he would go change the design anyway lol.)
    I do think taking it away will have a detrimental impact to some people (myself included), but probably not for a lot of people. Will be interested to test it myself!

    SIM2 MAX w/60-S Kuro Kage Silver 5th gen!!!!! I played the SIM from last season w/the Ventus Blue 6-S and there is no comparison. I have played 2 rounds w/the SIM2 MAX and have only missed 2 fairways. No joke. I have always considered myself a pretty good driver of the Golf Ball and always played Callaway products for years. Now, I am all TaylorMade!!! The sound, feel, and performance blows the competition away this year in my opinion

  • @TRIKushbeachside
    @TRIKushbeachside 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m looking at TSI but was hoping the SIM2 would be a contender, taking the movable weight away is a mistake IMO. Having the adjustable weight essentially gives you multiple drivers, for people who are still working on their game the driver setup that works at the beginning of the year might be totally different at the end of the year. $500+ is to much for a single dimensional club

    Just got fit by Bryan LaRoche and changed out my Sim 9° played at 7 for a Sim 2 10.5° played at 8.5°. My issue was driving penalties (losing balls left and right) so we went with a tad more spin with the Sim 2 although I lost about 20 or so yards. Will probably just take some getting used to to get my distance back but at least 95% of my drives are on or near the fairway. Got Bryan building the rest of my set at the moment Sim2 3 wood and 4-P P770s. Still gotta do my wedge fitting.

      While you can't compare sessions on a different day (nor really compare anything without the club being swung by a robot), you can take a look at each "review", and take a look at the average efficiency of each club and also the average ball speed:average distance ratio to work out the theoretical longest driver.
      That being said, there's a reason people are fit into different clubs. Certain club characteristics will match certain swing/player characteristics.

    Question for you, Did you feel that SIM 2 was fast in the high part of the head? fast in the low part of the head? toe?

    • @ianfrasergolf
      @ianfrasergolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      None of the current heads are particularly quick high in the head. Slightly low of centre is fastest part for ball speed.

    Ian should go back and revisit the PXG Proto he hit so well and then abandoned.

    Was excited to try all these new drivers but my expectations of finding one that will blow me away are gone. At least this year. With limits on speed and MOI, I just don't know what new technology they could put in a driver to make anything so much better than what's already out there.... Think I'll just spend that money on some custom fit wedges 🤷

    So, Ian, your dispersion was better with the SIM 2. If you're only giving up 7 yards (at 300+, which is not significant) but you can literally point and shoot down the middle, how was the SIM 2 not an improvement?

    • @ianfrasergolf
      @ianfrasergolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dispersion was really good with both. My biggest miss was 19 or 20 yds left which is still in most fairways so i’ll take the extra ball speed and distance.

    So far as I have seen this month, the sim is better than the sim2 and I would expect it to sell less as taylormade’s customers staying with their sim rather than switching

    What was strange for me to see was that when you added loft, thereby closing the face, it reduced the amount of right to left. Could that be explained by strike moving more central as well as the slight increase in backspin negating the side spin a little?
    I have similar tendencies to Ian, yet at age 56, everything is around 5 - 7 mph slower (108 - 110 club / 155 - 160 ball) with high launch and high spin.

    @zacharybouthillier6182 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will we see more comparaison of low spining vs more forgiving head in the future? If the more forgiving head’s crank down in loft with a very tip stiff shaft to deliver low spin as well what’s in it to go for the smaller and more punishing head?

    Dang, Ian upped his speed lately? consistent over 165 mph ball speed and looks quite easy.

    Honestly, I thought the Sim 2 looked better - every ball flight looked nearly identical. The 8 head, maybe opened 1 click might be the perfect 'automatic' gamer

    • @ianfrasergolf
      @ianfrasergolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, I didn't work on increasing my ball speed to 170 last year to start giving it away. My Arccos data had me at +5hcp driving last year so accuracy isn't a struggle for me. I’d need to see accuracy plus distance gains to switch out.

    Noticed Ian's SS jumps between SIM and SIM2. How much of that is comfort and how much of that might be the driver?

    Driver technology is not getting good enough to change. New SIM 2 is £399 and the SIM is now £260. Buy a SIM and some new wedges 👍
