loved this! you inspired me to use soap to wash my face and since I switched my skin has become a lot better! Plus, it's so easy to trash with a bar of soap vs. shampoo bottle, face wash, etc.
***** Haha, sounds like a rather difficult situation you had going! ;) I use it on my hair with an apple cider vinegar rinse afterwards (I mix a bit with a ton of water in a 50ml spray bottle and it last's me ages). I don't use soap on my body (I don't use anything) since my skin is fairly sensitive. I do use it once a day (in the evening) to wash my face though and have no issues with it! I also use it on my body when I do shave (which I don't do on a regular basis, so it's ok). When my hands are really dirty I use it for that as well. Lastly, I use it to pre-wash really dirty laundry :) I am not sure if this was your question, but that's how I go about it! :) I've tried various soaps (olive oil, coconut, african black soap) and they all work divine :)
What do you do for makeup? Do you buy organic makeup? Do you make you're own? Do you just not wear any? I'm really interested in how you go about that and you opinions behind it.
you said you use the bar of soap for shampoo? what brand is it? and do you use anything for conditioner? I would think that your hair would get dried out. can we get a video on your hair and makeup routine??
Hi Lauren you have really help me in the last year , since I saw your video at tedtalk show , I begun to try this lifestyle it has been a beautiful process and i have learn lots of technics to safe money , and be quite sure about my impact THANK YOU SO MUCH I can really say you are one of the persons who opened my eyes and maybe changed my life , I hope you continue with it because you really inspired people .
Lauren, I made this body butter and loved it. Just want to know if it's powerful enough to avoid stretch marks, as I am pregnant and have been using in my growing belly.
Sieglinde Gerhardt Thanks for the heads up! I heard something about it. The only essential oil I use ( and very little) is tea tree oil. Is this one OK during pregnancy?
Awesome, thanks Lauren! I will totally be switching to these products as mine run out. Although I buy products that are natural and in recyclable packaging I feel like this will be really inexpensive to do and zero waste :)
Have you ever thought of using lush? I know they have great products and I know they have tins to store certain things like shop and shampoo. They also have packaging that you can bring back and recycle.
So glad I discovered your blog - a zero waste advocate that loves Metallica? I'm a fan :D Once I've finished my many pots of face/body/foot creams, I will make the switch to natural oils & butters. Thank you
Hi Lauren! You're videos are simply amazing! You can also use plain yogurt to wash and condition your hair. It's quite nifty to keep your hair healthy and well conditioned. Try it. There are several other things you can use instead of yogurt as well but since you don't use shampoo, they may make you feel uncomfortable. Nevertheless, if you're still interested on organic head masks and other things to keep your hair healthy and shiny, please do let me know! :)
Cool! Can you do a kitchen version of this? How to replace dishwasher liquid? or dish soap? countertop cleaner? I've had the hardest time replacing natural stuff in the kitchen! Thanks
Hi Luren! Thank you very much for all your videos and ideas, im gonna try them! Could you make a DIY for the shampoo in showers, I can of think that could have baking soda, if you can give us some tips that would be awesome!! keep going!
i love all these and i use all of these! the only thing i am afraid of trying is the metal razor because i am a klutz and i feel like i will shred my legs to ribbons... but now i can't look at horrible, expensive plastic razors with good eyes. keep up the tips! how about some household cleaning tips, please? xox
Does the bar some make your skin feel dry to the touch, if that makes sense. I don't like that feeling and have stayed away from bar soaps. Anyone have any suggestions? Do the ones with more oil make your skin smoother and soft?
Hi Lauren, I love your videos! I was wondering if you take any medication (usually, my prescriptions come packaged with all sorts of plastic and unnecessary paper) and how you would deal with this situation with regard to waste.
Hi Lauren! I love all of these tips, but what do you do when you need to travel? Do you just put everything into small mason jars? How do you avoid bulkiness and spillage if the glass breaks? Thanks!
hello, do you have a favorite for a shower curtain? i think they are mostly extremely toxic, and I'm trying to research on a new one to buy, and I want it to last and be recyclable, but if you already have a recommendation I''d love to know. thank you for these excellent tips overall, you are seriously life changing. you show us how it's possible to live zero waste. amazing
Hi Lauren great job and I really love what you do. I have some concernes. Some soaps are usually highly alkaline and used in parts of the body (scalp) that have a total different ph level. Isn't it bad in long term and do you always measure the ph? Other question: the oil that you use on the face shoudn't be combined with water in order to moisturize? Thanks in advance!
+e bell I would suggest buying whatever is at your local natural food store - but I also love Meow Meow Tweet. If you order online and email them they can mail it to you without packaging and without plastic.
LUSH has amazing soaps and if there is a store near you they will cut a chunk off and you can bring your own container for it. They also sell shampoo bars and solid deodorant bars.
Hi Lauren! Loved this video, and I cannot wait to finish up some of my "trashy" self care products and give these a try. Is that razor blade aluminum or steel? I'm trying to figure out where I'd need to recycle that....
Hey Lauren I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of yours and what you do! I am hoping to start making my own cosmetics and bathroom essentials but i will the toothpaste hurt my enamel? And will the deodorant protect me from stinking? hope to hear from you!!
+Trash is for Tossers could you do a video on how do you wash your hair with solid bar soap? do you put it directaly on the scalp or 1st in water ? i have a very oily scalp and fine hair :( your hair looks strong and healthy
Lauren, I have an important question! I have purchased glass jars to carry around for my on the go drinks, but I do not know how to start a conversation/go about asking baristas to use the jar instead of a plastic throw away. Any advice?
I have curly hair so using soap as shampoo would wreck my hair as would skipping the conditioner. I buy shampoo and conditioner bars either package free or in recyclable cardboard (Lush, Etsy and healthfood stores) and use coconut oil as a deep conditioner when I have the time. The bars are hit or miss if you have curly hair especially but some places offer samples to try before buying anything so you can figure out what suits you
+summertimeproduction you can use diluted vinegar!!! i have been low poo (no shampoo or conditioner) for 6 months and my hair has never been healthier or better looking :) i use a shampoo bar to wash my hair. then i use a mixture of 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. use a bottle with a long skinny spout so you don't waste any. squeeze it over your wet clean hair and rinse. the vinegar closes up the cuticles of your hair and the smell goes away very quickly. believe me, this is the greatest thing ever! if the ends feel dry i use a few drops of pure argan oil (bought in bulk, none of that pricey sephora stuff). look up "low poo" here on YT for more details! xox
I just discover you from Facebook and I'm so glad that you make youtube video. Your tips are really great, I wonder do you have a Capsule wardrobe? I mean do you keep your minimalist life style in your cloth too? Also, for periods, I don't know if you ever heard of them, But there is a company call Shethinx.com who made some resuable period underwear. ( they are really cute and it's also help woman in need). :)
So I'm pretty close to a no waste bathroom system. I'm kind of surprised you don't label any of your products? When I'm half asleep and there are similar bottles in my cupboard it's a recipe for disaster.
You have the most amazig hair and skin
One question: What do you use to floss?
do you make your own zero waste beauty products like blush or mascara? i'd love a video on it!
you can use beet juice for lips and cheeks and a mix of aloe vera gel and cocoa powder for mascara

This is my favorite video from you! You seem so much happier!
Thanks Lauren!:) I love your blogs.
Where did you buy the soap (and whats the name of it ) which you use for almost everything.
Have you ever thought of using lush? I know they have great products and I know they have tins to store certain things like shop and shampoo. They also have packaging that you can bring back and recycle.

+Noto V I have a glass shower door so I don't use a curtain. I would try to look for a hemp one or a material curtain
What a great video!

Sorry for the unrelated question, but do you wear tights? If so, what do you do (or would you do) once a pair has been ripped beyond repair? Thanks
Hey Lauren! Do you use hair conditioner and if so, what do you use? Thanks for all the tips!
Hi Lauren, what brand is the all-purpose soap you use?
+e bell I would suggest buying whatever is at your local natural food store - but I also love Meow Meow Tweet. If you order online and email them they can mail it to you without packaging and without plastic.

Lauren, I have an important question!
I have purchased glass jars to carry around for my on the go drinks, but I do not know how to start a conversation/go about asking baristas to use the jar instead of a plastic throw away. Any advice?
What is the bar soap made of please ????
Hey! Wondering what you use for conditioner?
Hi Lauren! What do you use for floss?
Which bar of soap do you use and where do you get it from?
I'm learning sometihng with this thank you ;)
Howw do you spell the oil you use? Because I never heard of that oil before.
What do you use as conditioner?
+summertimeproduction I don't use conditioner

Are you back to being active?
Have you ever tried sugar waxing?
No hair conditioner?
+Macon Baladiang Nope :) If I feel a little dry i'll put in some coconut oil
