I don’t drink. I hate the taste of beer and liquor gives me reflux. I got into a fight (sorta) because I had an E6 that said he couldn’t trust someone not willing to have a drink with him at a pre deployment party. I told him to take it up with our plt sgt (that’s a quick way to kick an NCO in the nuts without actually kicking him). Anyhow, he tried the Goldberg spear but didn’t know that I’ve trained Muay Thai most of my life and got a flying knee to the frontal lobe. Nevertheless, he didn’t deploy with us since he suffered a concussion. Pick your battles but always stand by your principles. RLTW!!!
True words. Depends on the ODA or that’s how it was at least during my team time and TM SGT time. I was a MFF TM SGT and never pressured my guys on JCETS, Level 1 train ups, etc. Keep up the videos!!
I was in a Spec Ops Airborne unit and there was pressure to drink within our teams. But we always looked out for each other. Lots of pressure being Spec Ops regardless if it's 18x 11x 37's or 38's...and if you don't know now you know...great video Buck!!!!
Bro you put out a ton of really good stuff and I’m so thankful for it. This is actually something I was JUST thinking about. I haven’t been a fan of drinking for years and my significant other isn’t a fan of me drinking so this has definitely been a thought in the back of my mind. Thank you so much for the awesome stuff you’re doing. It means a lot to a LOT of people.
Thanks for this advice buck, been wondering about this, also I appreciate you helping us get selected. Can confirm FNG academy videos, swag and book will improve your times
thanks for putting this out. As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints(mormon), its inspiring for me to hear stories of SOF guys from our church who thrive and succeed in special operations. I guess it depends on each person and how they are treated.
Well Said “Buck” 💪 also, I received my 5 copies of your books to give out as gifts to my sons & son in- laws. I wish I could have had you autograph them though. ✌️✌️
I'm a devout christain and currently reclassing into infantry and I've thought about trying out for SF. I get alot of crud from some of the guys in the for my faith and I figured it be worse in SF. This is reassuring
I wouldn't worry about it to much. I was in the Philippines for 8 months with a ODA. There was two guys that were huge Christians. No one pressured them into anything. But, I'm sure it wasn't always like that. Im sure for the first few months might be annoying. But , once they realize you are not down with that your team will respect your wishes
I know a young man who has a Batchlor’s degree and went 18X, enlisted. I hope he is treated like he can tackle critical thinking, by officers. As a division 1, Triathlete, he is more than capable. He is older and being in college, he has been there done that, but is not a stick in the mud.
I generally give 0 fucks about peer pressure but to be honest, part of me would probably feel more obligated just because I know my life is in their hands during deployment... and that's something crappy to hold over a person's head.
I probably will never get the chance to become a green beret but hopefully my waiver gets approved did not try for sf cause I talked to a recruiter and he said when you try for waiver and you application gets sent up chain of command he said try for a mos like a cook or something than once your in try to get a mos change cause if you go to a office and put 18x on your application they probably will take a look and Disappove it he said when you try for a role like cook or roles that are not as high spied like sf he said get the waiver for cook mos and than say maybe 2 years in try for sf cause if you apply with that mos they will say he’s not getting that job he’s gonna fail the application so I will hopefully get the waiver for cook than try go sf 2 years later buck what do think about the recruiters advice
Buck, im shipping out in January with hopes of Going SF eventually in my career. Is the "best" route to SF through 11b-11x getting airborne qualified and a ranger tab then going for SF or is 18x the best route?
My first nite at Bragg I got to hangout with a group of salty paratroopers we were drinking Jack Daniels and chasing it with chocolate chip cookies,at some point I got a jab to the chops and went down jumped back up and did another shot . Wasn’t a cherry any more.AIRBORNE.
Just be who you are and that will be respected by the large majority. You can always go to the bar and Not drink. Spend time with the fellas for sure though
I spent two years in law enforcment risking my life pretty regularly and doing any and everything I was asked to do and had a stellar record, the best at my department actually with several notable arrests, with that said more than half of the department couldn't stand me because I wasn't a quintessential good ol boy, and really had no interest in that type of work culture. I was verbally abused, physically threatened, and also told not to stand up for myself by the Sheriff himself. I told them they could take that shit and shove it up there ass, some people aren't worth fitting in with.
After I left the department the sheriff had to resign and his friends the Deputy's that shit all over me lost there jobs. Check out hemphill county texas and the thomas brown case and you tell me if I made the right decision.

Buck I'm 17 1/2 and a senior in highschool. I wanna study a language before signing my 18x. Should I study Mandarin or Russian or go all in and learn both? Also does the language you learn play a major role into what group your assigned too?
Language does play a part in which group you go to. Already Knowing a language doesn’t always guarantee that you get assigned that language though. I had a buddy who was Mexican (fluent in Spanish), studied Arabic for 4 years in college, yet got assigned Mandarin in the Q course. Go figure
my criminal background is preventing me from joining but I’m in the process of ceiling my records. gonna try again. after the stress the world has put me though why not try to be a green beret 👊

Honestly alcohol culture in military circles needs to be toned down. Speaking from my own experiences in Canadian infantry, the amount of guys I've known who view applied alcoholism (as in, not clinically diagnosed but binge drinking to be cool) as a legit coping mechanism or as a way to fit in is fucking staggering.
Great info man. Thank you. I was an 18x. Unfortunately busted time on land nav. Spent 7 years 11B got my Ranger tab and wanting to head back. Any good workout plans you recommend for rucks ? I'm 31 now so ..little more beat up but ready to do this .

Buck, how long can you stay on a ODA team before having to go back to be SFAS cadre/Q course instructor? Like how many deployments
usually you get anywhere from 3-5 years
@@FNGACADEMY Is it less time for officers or is it 3-5 years for them as well?
@@Culperrr less for them 1.5-2 years
