probably my fav striking martial art form. Devastatingly effective and absolutely beautiful at the same time. There’s so much character in the original form that’s lost in today’s Muay Thai. I see many folks learn it but only on the surface and load it with just pure aggression.
Glorious presentation and the demonstrator is in perfect form! I love how he’s got the soul of it, maybe it’s coz he’s Thai.
The truth is muay boran is not as effective as sport muaythai, even in self defense situation.
@@sportmuaythaiv1045 I guess that’s why Muay Boran is the old style? Well, I guess it had to adapt and progress to become better if not it just stays beautiful but outdated. Is the current style in actual Muay Thai matches the sport version? What about Muay Chaiya? I learnt the basic fundamentals from a friend and I love the form.

@@megatonhammer4723 My first mentor Abhidej Sithirun was a modern sport muaythai fighter. Respectfully I must admit that in his prime, he cannot compete against modern sport muaythai fighter. That is how much sport muaythai has progressed: through professional level competition. Muay chaiya is no longer competitive. All teachers of muay Chaiya lack fight experience fighting competitively at professional level. None of them have produced successful professional fighter

The instructor must have professional fighting experience. The traininig matters. Is it one on one, or a teacher with a group of students? To confirm what I'm talking about, let me introduce myself. I'm a Thai, started to study muaythai at the age of 57. I started sport muaythai the same week I started to study muaythai Chaiya. After just a week of training, I wanted to quit muay Chaiya, but persisted because I paid for a month of training. What a waste of time and money. Designed to kill you? Muay boran is designed to weaken the limbs along with less powerful moves like that overhead shit or backhanding with knuckles. where as muay thai is designed to target the head and body. Muay thai is the one designed to kill if you are going to compare them.
Morgan Freeman - less powerful what? Those strikes can cause a straight knockout, backhand for it's unexpected nature.Remeber it's the punches you don't see comming that has higher chances of knocking one out and the overhand is a killer ofc.Most importantly Muay Boran has head strikes+ ground work for fighting the enmies on the ground.And the style Muay boran is not even a style.It is a set of different styles from various parts of thailand.

no, the muay thai is, this is just a copy that its created i think to be more beautifull for the inexperience eye, there are a lot of muay thai hits that are really muay thai but ,for example, the hands ,all the hands stuff is so long and have so much innecesarie moves
@@jumpszi9098 It's the other way around, Muay Boran came before Muay Thai as research shows, so if anything has to be called a copy it would be Muay Thai. I'd however call Muay Thai a descendant of Muay Boran as opposed to a 'copy', and it looks quite effective (i.e. Muay Boran)

Two months in, I got the stance correct as fluid as water, my punches are solid but the kicks still needs room for imporvement. One last thing, there's a MT school near me which I will apply later this fall. Will come back later for more!!!
