    For complicated games like this, it is most effective to explain them backwards. Here's the fix that may help:
    1. Game win condition (list the various ways to get VP)
    2. Describe tournament phase (this is the most important part of the game)
    2.1. Win condition -> how to achieve win condition
    3. Describe deck-building phase
    3.1. Goals -> how to achieve goals
    4. Card anatomy
    I hope this helps for future videos! :)

      Thanks for the tip! I do this as I explain games when teaching anyway. After I uploaded this video, I forgot to add in a more in depth overview in the beginning. This was probably one of the most complex I have to tackle yet.

    This is a great game! Thanks for the detailed guide. It’s nowhere near as complicated as I was expecting

    This is without doubt the best board game rule explanation video I have ever seen! Very impressed and will definitely be on the look out for your videos moving forward!

    This is fantastic. Clear and precise. I think I've watched this 3 times now. Once to learn what the game is about to help me decide if I wanted to back it, second time I watched it I had asked the people to send me the base game and the rest later so I could try it out and get used to it, third time now because I've played it once (unfortunately only one round) and because I don't feel like doing much of anything else. XD

    Great video, this should be a template for how to make "learn to play" videos :)

    This is a great how to video. Easily understood and explained. I was only slightly distracted by seeing your eyes move when you were reading your spiel. Thank you for the video!

    Oh man this video was great, the only negative is I was looking to learn about "blast-off actions" is there a way you could explain this to me?

    • @thecardboardstacker
      @thecardboardstacker  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Graydon Hendershott Yes! Blast-off actions are used just like regular actions. When you can use this action, take 3*'s and place it on to one of your cards in your tableau. Then flip the card you used blast-off with. By the way, ignore the passage in the rule book and follow the card. The designer ruled it out recently because it was out of date.
      There is a big disscussino on BGG here
      boardgamegeek.com/thread/1555086/blast-actions-and-anvildrop-actions
      And here's the official/unofficial FAQ.

    The rulebook say reveal the element before type in deckbuilding phase

    • @thecardboardstacker
      @thecardboardstacker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, indeed it does. I was confused because the meta card #1 was type. I did play the correct way, but I found the 7 minute difference is not significant enough.

  • @Meowvela
    @Meowvela 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question; could the deckbuilding phase be handled without a timer somehow?

    • @thecardboardstacker
      @thecardboardstacker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there's is a variant where you can play the deckbuilding phase turn-based.
