It's unfortunate that they use so much backing track for the vocals. Dude's a great singer live from what I remember/can see.

Saw these guys last November and honestly can say THIS looks like a better show than what they put on when I saw them. Better vocals, better lighting, better stage presence and better energy

Jesus whoever was in charge of the song for this show did a horrible job. All you can hear is the back track. They are generally a really slid band live and this makes it seem like they totally rely on lip syncing.

Just to settle this, it would seem that the backing track dominated the mics in the mix for the production of this video.
At the gig, the backing track may have been only audible by the singers through front of house, but I can't say for sure. The intro was clearly audible by the audience so it's easily possible the mics were much louder than they appear to sound in this vid.

im thinking they've gone more and more with backing tracks over the years, now getting to the point where they're essentially just putting on a choreographed performance, a la katy perry etc, due to a few reasons. one being they definitely are about having a big, energetic stage presence, and when you do that, there's no way you can continue to sing/play well after a song or two without breaks or being super in shape. another reason is its simply less pressure to play well. go out on stage, jump around, be done with it. you dont have to ever really practice that way. if people are into i could care less tbh.

"one being they definitely are about having a big, energetic stage presence, and when you do that, there's no way you can continue to sing/play well after a song or two without breaks or being super in shape" you are wrong when you say there is"NO WAY". it takes practice and a lot more artists/bands are too lazy to actually put in the right amount of time to be able to do it. Check Architects live, amazing stage presence, amazing performance, amazing vocals.
"another reason is its simply less pressure to play well. go out on stage, jump around, be done with it. you dont have to ever really practice that way." True, True and True. But why would i want to go see an artist live if he/she is just going to put me a playback of the song he/she's about to perform. Might as well just save my money and listen to the studio version of my phone right??! Even when you watch Skrillex who's mainly a DJ and does everything on a computer, he does live remix of his own songs and a lot of mashups. He even makes his guest vocalists perform live their vocals. These guys do not do anything but move around and lip-sync. They can't even really play the instruments live cause it's mostly electronics.
I don't see them going far with this style as the audience will get bored really quick. But like you said, if people are into it, I could care less.

+Luffy Joke Central "a lot more artists/bands are too lazy to actually put in the right amount of time to be able to do it." I have to disagree, I can't think of many bands that are actually like that. In pop music, it's obviously quite prevalent, but I never see it much in these types of genres.
I definitely agree on everything else though, there's no point going to a live show if they're not actually performing; that's why I don't like (most) pop artists. They focus on dancing and such so much that you're pretty much watching a dance show with music playing over it.

He was singing, but the backtrack was so loud you couldn't hear him... He's a great vocalist live... Honestly though once you are famous enough in a particular scene, all you have to do is show up anymore and let the crowd get involved to increase your stage presence... Honestly... Look at half the metal bands these days and you will see a lot of them using different ways to get out of doing their part... Like massive amounts of backtracking, speaking during the screaming parts, letting fans grab the mic and have it for 90% of the song... I mean sure people go ape shit over it... And the thing is that it works... So I mean it just is what it is...

I only disliked this cuz Devin is lip syncing the entire song. Lip syncing is not cool. People are paying to hear a live performance of the song NOT the studio version.
