I stumbled across this video by accident. I am a 37 yr old mom and wife with a type of muscular dystrophy with an adult onset. When I was first diagnosed 9 years ago, I had such a positive attitude and was determined to stay active as long as I could. Nowadays, I find myself feeling more and more helpless as I see the disease progressing and feel myself getting weaker everyday. I needed to see the positive and joyful attitude of someone else who was "dealt a hand" like I was. Thank you for your attitude, Garrett. It really is inspiring to other people with disabilities. Jessica, thank you for posting this on your channel. I cannot tell you how much it has sparked a new fire in me to seek joy regardless of my situation.
Jessica, I started watching you after I decided to lose my baby weight from pregnancy, but honestly I was in and out because something seemed to be missing from your Vlogs. Recently, since you have been sharing your life with Garrett I have seen a new side to you (maybe it is that you seem in a happier place), but I can tell you that I am very compelled to watch these days. I love the strength that you both exude as a couple and individually and it brought me to tears when Garrett shared that he has been feeling more since working out. I believe in miracles, with one child surviving cancer that I was told would most likely not live more than 3 to 4 months from her dx date, and then again in my last pregnancy with twins when my son was diagnosed with a severe IUGR and in the 2% and was not expected to make it. My daughter is now cancer free and my son is almost 2 now and though he faces challenges from his IUGR, he is alive and happy!! He see's a Speech Therapist, an OT, and is about to start seeing a PT. His dx will be confirmed whether or not he has CP in February, but whether he does or not does not change anything in my mind. Because I believe strongly that a positive and proactive attitude (coupled with a like minded support group) is the strongest medicine there is!!

Love this video and how honest/open you both are. I'm a nurse and my first patient ever as a nursing student was a 36 year old guy who was a c-7 quadriplegic. I remember being so nervous taking care of him. One of his meds was an injection that was given in order to give himself an erection. I remember my nursing instructor telling me that I needed to be a professional and discuss if he was practicing safe sex. I was so young and naive and super embarrassed to talk about it with him. But I knew my grade depended on it. I eventually got up the courage to talk to him about it. It was an amazing conversation. He was total open to talking about it, so much so that I felt comfortable asking lots of questions. It was such a learning opportunity for me. To this day - I will always remember him and I have a special place in my heart for quadriplegics. So glad you have found happiness. Please continue to share.

It's amazing with big elevators and tables\toilets made extra for wheelchair people:)) I also never even noticed that I see people in a wheelchair on a daily basis. Christine Nairne I'm not a quad but a para with a lumbar, thoracic, and cervical injuries. I fell from a 2 story building backwards and broke my back in all levels and still have 3 plus compression fractures that can't be corrected by surgery and the cervical injury has not been totally diagnosed. I really can relate to all that Garrett has had to deal with and he is a great inspiration to me as well as so many others with spinal cord injuries and different spine disorders. May he continue to be the inspirational giant that he is and never lose the inner strength that God has given him.

Me before you had me crying, my father in law was in a wheel chair for 25yrs and married to my mother in law 24yrs she fell for him and they had a happy marriage but he unfortunately committed suicide due to the military and what he had done in the military. praying Garrett will be able to walk especially like he said with all the science and new things that are happening I believe he will be able to.

Love this video and how honest/open you both are. I'm a nurse and my first patient ever as a nursing student was a 36 year old guy who was a c-7 quadriplegic. I remember being so nervous taking care of him. One of his meds was an injection that was given in order to give himself an erection. I remember my nursing instructor telling me that I needed to be a professional and discuss if he was practicing safe sex. I was so young and naive and super embarrassed to talk about it with him. But I knew my grade depended on it. I eventually got up the courage to talk to him about it. It was an amazing conversation. He was total open to talking about it, so much so that I felt comfortable asking lots of questions. It was such a learning opportunity for me. To this day - I will always remember him and I have a special place in my heart for quadriplegics. So glad you have found happiness. Please continue to share.

I love how I'm also learning new stuff from your vlogs! I never even noticed how handicap friendly my uni is. It's amazing with big elevators and tables\toilets made extra for wheelchair people:)) I also never even noticed that I see people in a wheelchair on a daily basis. I met this guy in uni and he just loves life and tries to inspire everyone. He's just fun to be around :) I wished we could change a few bits thoug..like getting into a bus or train by yourself is impossible where I live. I went back and binge watched all your blogs together. I think it's so awesome that you guys are so candid and open about the everyday struggles/ triumphs of a quadriplegic and your relationship. I think it allows people who were previously misinformed and possibly even weary of people with disabilities to get questions answered and understand how things work. Christine Nairne I'm not a quad but a para with a lumbar, thoracic, and cervical injuries. I fell from a 2 story building backwards and broke my back in all levels and still have 3 plus compression fractures that can't be corrected by surgery and the cervical injury has not been totally diagnosed. I really can relate to all that Garrett has had to deal with and he is a great inspiration to me as well as so many others with spinal cord injuries and different spine disorders. May he continue to be the inspirational giant that he is and never lose the inner strength that God has given him.
I love that you didn't even hesitate about giving up. You knew your potential and honestly giving up could of been so easy but I love how you came into the mindset of being strong willed. Jessica i feel is so strong willed y'all were meant to meet each other 💕💕

Me before you had me crying, my father in law was in a wheel chair for 25yrs and married to my mother in law 24yrs she fell for him and they had a happy marriage but he unfortunately committed suicide due to the military and what he had done in the military.
praying Garrett will be able to walk especially like he said with all the science and new things that are happening I believe he will be able to.

Ahhh!~ This vlog ended too soon! Jess' expression as Garret talked about being diagnosed; It's like you can see the pain and sympathy she has for him as he went through that. Garrett has the best outlook on life! So much strength and resilience! These two make each other a better person and I believe they inspire others around them to be better too!
