    Married my hubby 23 years ago, this October , in Italy! Major destination wedding. It was just going to be the two of us, but our parents, his brother and a couple of friends made the journey…we spent 5 days in our beautiful village…utilizing the locals for hair, photography, flowers, etc…had our rehearsal dinner in Venice. ❤️ After the wedding, my parents took our wedding attire back to the states with them and we continued on for 15 more days on a European honeymoon! We met a couple who became life-long friends. When we returned home we hosted a huge dinner party for around 250 of our friends and family! We never regretted that decision to have a destination wedding…it was truly a magical time. Now for my daughter’s high school graduation gift this year….she wants to retrace our steps and see where it all began! Oh, and they hung my dress and his tux in the closet right at the front of the plane. Not a wrinkle anywhere! 😵‍💫

    We're having our wedding at an all inclusive hotel in Mexico that we've stayed at twice before and have really lovely memories there. We've only invited around 30 people (most travelling from England). Part of the reason we chose a destination wedding was so we could have something more fun and less stressful with a smaller group of people

    My little sister wanted to throw a mini destination wedding. Would have been about an hour and thirty minute drive. However the issue was that she was having it a week before Christmas. She was very adamant because she went to three destination weddings herself that people would attend. However I advised her to mentally prepare for people not coming due to the raise in costs because of the holidays and the pressure of financial reasons (especially those with kids) for the holidays. she ended up getting eloped and having a small ceremony and a family members backyard due to the push back she received.

    I love this video. We are from Pennsylvania and getting married in sunny Cancun, Mexico this December. My favorite part of planning this destination wedding has been talking to other destination wedding brides who are all excited, scared, and blissful right now. We picked an all-inclusive resort so my biggest piece of advice is to incorporate vendor fees the resort chargers into your budget. We did not and learned that vendor fees can be $500 plus dollars if you do not work with their preferred vendor. Local planners have some great tips to minimize this cost, but it is something to highly consider.

    7:14 this is so important! One of my cousins had a wedding in Southern California during the school year. My mom was the only person who could attend because we live in Maryland and my sister & I had school. It was also a no-kids wedding. My aunt and uncle were upset with us that we couldn’t all make it. The entitlement is beyond me.

    Jamie, I'm getting married end of November. We are over budget and struggling on where to cut costs. Can you do a video for ideas on how to save $$ this close to the wedding. Side note, we had a budget, then got pregnant and I lost a lot of income, which meant $$ took a hit and we are lost on what to do. Thank you, from a stressed out bride and new mummy :)

    • @doloresleyva8810
      @doloresleyva8810 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure how much from your wedding you can cut costs on since it's very close what 6 weeks or so. I would think if any arrangements are not set in stone start with that and cut out what is not necessary. Depending if it's a home or reception hall event you can, if not already
      done , ask members of your wedding party and family and friends to help out either to take the place of a paid service (that has not been deposited on or paid) and or donate goods or money. If it's a destination wedding like talked about here there is probably no wiggle room to cut costs at such a close point. Go over the original budget and peel away at anything minor as small things can add up in big costs. All in all your wedding should not be crazy stressful due to cost. Basically It's a ceremony to join the union of the two, meal and drink and a time to gather with those who care about the two of you the most. When you are looking at what to cut costs on ask yourself if if the expense really matters like an expensive drinks menu or $100 shoes for the bride who will end up kicking them off sooner or later and even the cake , yes! Many times guests leave half the cake they are served behind to be thrown away. Wedding style cookies could suffice at a lower cost and a small cake or cup cakes can be for the bride and groom. Hope any of this helps. Learned from experience ha ha. Happy nuptials!!

    Hi Jamie, I've been waiting for this video!! Thank you for doing this and looking forward to future ones on this topic. I got engaged in 2019 and my fiance and I always planned to have our wedding in Mojacar, Spain. We have a wedding planner there who is local to the town. The reason why we're going there is because that's where my fiance's parents met and bought a home a long time ago. He used to visit there on vacation growing up. So, it's been a long time since his family travelled there (over 15+ years) and now it's like a reunion and new adventure for both of our families and friends. So far 80 people RSVP'd!! I can't believe it and I think I need help 🫣😁

    I’m getting married in Mexico. Biggest piece of advice I have is to use the local vendors, this includes Photo, video, coordination and literally every other vendor (except attire as styles are more limited in Mexico and not cheaper). Most wedding vendors in Mexico are bilingual, way more affordable than flying someone in and they tend to know much more about the area since they live there. Additionally the wedding market is huge in Mexico and there are so many incredibly talented vendors. Bonus points you are supporting the local economy as well!

    Covid bride here planning a "destination" wedding, and by that I mean in my hometown across the US from where my husband and I live near his family and friends
    My guest list is longer and I'm more concerned about their ability to attend than my husband is about his guest list, so when I jokingly said we could just have the wedding in MN instead of TX he just said if that was what I wanted, then sure 😂
    Everyone that I would want in my bridal party lives in MN. I was only just recently able to visit my hometown after 5 years, most friends and family I hadn't evem seen since before I MET my husband, whereas we see his friends and family multiple times a year. His family's christmas is lowkey always a giant reunion, and he says I've talked to his family more than he has in the last decade, so he's not super pressed about if they're able to attend our wedding in MN.
    I really don't like having to make a decision that potentially upsets other people, but I've been given full permission to be selfish and do what makes me the most happy. I need to keep reminding myself that if we don't see his family at the wedding then I'll see them at Christmas, and its okay if theyre miffed 😅

    Yay! I’m glad you made this video. I lived in the Dominican Republic for a few years, my fiancé lives there, but I’m currently not there. Our wedding will be there in early January. Not the best time of year cost-wise due to the holidays, but considering I had to make it sometime when my siblings are on break from school, it’s still cheaper than anytime between Christmas and New Years. I’ve already made up my mind not to be upset about anyone not being able to come, just extra happy if they can! We’re having about a 6-month engagement so I didn’t exactly give them the 12-month notice. Also, the usual timeline doesn’t really work for us. One makeup artist I contacted told me to contact them again one month before! 😅 That’s probably something that’s more region-specific.

      You will definitely want a bilingual officient - and be sure they are truly fluent in both languages. If you are going to have them do the entire ceremony on both languages - allocate double the time (being mindful too not Lee it to long). Or they can alternate bits and pieces between the 2 languages. Same thing with MC for reception. Incorporate pieces of both of your cultures and maybe even find a creative way to share with guests a little about each culture
