Reliability and simplicity used to be diesel engines' strong suits. The problems with Diesel emission systems today mirror the 1970s when catalytic converters and other new components wrestled with carburetors and other outdated technologies on gasoline engines. Eventually gas engines became cleaner and more reliable than ever before but there certainly was a messy transition period.
But back when reliability and simplicity were their strong suits, they were also remarkably awful for health and air quality. Now, they're far cleaner but only mildly more difficult to maintain (if it all...this comes from a long time TDI owner); it's more than a fair trade-off.

The Tahoe to get has a v8 without that stupid cylinder deactivation solenoid assembly in the valley that likes to fail frequently, or gush oil after 70k miles lol. What I am sayin is... the last great tahoe was made before 2005. Bummer dude.
On the bright side that diesel is almost as powerful as the old v8, but it needs a turbo to make that power(extra wearable parts that are also expensive), and the fuel mileage sounds great until you see the price of a bottle of that stupid fuel aditive that goes in the blue hole there... Please review New bentley continental gt convertible.
excellent fun fact
I love the new 3.0 duramax sadly I see these engine with a big flaw. They designed this engine with internal belt and chain driven for the timing. And to top it off it’s all behind the engine. They should of went with gear driven instead of the belts and chains. Gear driven timing are known to last for over a million miles chains and belts won’t even make it to 200k if even that.
the emissions will kill your engine long before the belt does.
A diesel truck calls for shorter hair 💈. Nothing Tom won’t do for a great review.
Why do they have to add those disgusting buttons for shifters?
GREAT!
Still making the Tahoe?
Uh huh. Ford still makes F150 too.
I spy Lake Alice Rd in Fall City, WA
I’ll consider a Tahoe when it is a BEV. GM is working on it, right?
In the GM promos, there's the silhouette of what looks like a large SUV. And since the pickup has been confirmed...
Do Americans care about diesel at all if its not a Van or Semi Truck?
In larger trucks like f250 or ram, or chevy silverado hd yes. We love our big burly diesel engines. But we use them more for towing campers, big loads that tire out gas engines
Spend half the cost of the modern tahoe blinging out an 04 LT with a 5.3, and you'll have yourself a way better vehicle that will outlive the new ones.
gasoline is absurdly expensive
Tell me what else you can get for $3.00 a gallon.
Beautiful vehicle but I'd go for the Toyota Landcruiser or the Lexus GX460 which offers comfort and luxury and that off road capability just in case.
And more reliability for sure
They average 250,000 miles 🤔
The rear of this Gen SUV looks out of proportion.
Deer says..are you nuts driving a vehicle like that😥
High Country...Yes you would have to be high on meth or possibly a good brand of glue to pay that price plus an extra $7k "fair market value" markup they are asking right now.
Single sunroof
La electrica cuando.
How the heck can people afford this? I wish I had $80k to spend on a vehicle.
Well there are a lot of people in United States that do well financially and 80 K is expensive I agree with you but there is creative financing and leasing I guess it depends on your station in life and how much you actually want to put towards a vehicle vs Other things and how much you can afford
I bought my first house for $82,000
Calling me a thief?
Money pit in services 😱
So buy a Toyota shut up
1 sunroof
مزينة = المزُني
These $80 K+ vehicles are for 1) Business owners, 2) Doctors, and
3) “Hyper-consumers”...people with more money than sense.
Or their money let them buy what they want and don't worry about others! And big discounts are heavy on these. So they'll last for 7 years before major issues and you'll have plenty of comfort and joy of safe travels
I have only four words to say about this engine: BELT DRIVEN OIL PUMP.
