In a twist of fate of sorts, you don't actually kill the Plasm Wraith! You can see it has reformed again as you launch off from the planet before the credits! You're now slightly less of a murderer, hooray?

@@NameCoyote Sorry to say but technically the Plasm Wraith doesn't count as a kill because you see it's remains retreat back into the oak and it reforms itself in the ending cutscene.
@@midnightmoon6439 That is true. I guess we could subtract one from the total. I'm certain it says than you killed one in the Piklopedia, but it also blames you for the death of scornets and mini phosbats so...
@@NameCoyote Yes that's true but I'd consider treating this only as a defeat instead of a kill.
However I'd say you'd have to keep in mind that all creatures in the Formidable Oak evaporate into plasm upon death.
So I'd say it makes more sense that when you kill a enemy in the oak, you're killing a part of the Wraith.
So to finish this up, even though killing the Wraith is really only a defeat you could make it work in some cases by killing the illusionary creatures and destroying the fractal-embroidered cubes.

It's nice to see when people go out of their way to avoid killing enemies. It adds a tiny challenge. Especially if the enemies are as vicious as those in the Pikmin series.

I respect your determination to play this game pacifist as when I play Pikmin I am merciless and brutally kill every enemy for no reason
yeah me too and i always have some extra troops and a guy in base to carry the body and take out the pikmin
with an army of pikmin to command: _Veni, vidi, vici_
I do that too but not for no reason. A lot of the fauna will attack you and your pikmin when you get close. Since some of these creatures could obscure a fruit, be in the path your pikmin need to take to get to the ship, or like the bosses you need to kill them to continue, you really don’t have much of a choice, survive is the goal my friend, in this case in order to survive, killing the fauna is necessary.
It’s more fun that’s why I do it

You can actually kill every boss extremely quickly if you attack certain places on the enemy so you lose less pikmin

This can be avoided by standing in the water and charging your winged pikmin at the bridge

"Pacifist" totally ok to maim a crab because you didn't kill him, just crippled him for the rest of his life. 10/10

The whiptongue bulborb eating the bombrock was so satisfying IMO
It really bothers me that basically every Pikmin 3 challenge requires you to avoid getting the best ending since fruits are in enemies, count as a collectible, and require good amounts of Pikmin, which is something most challenges restrict!

I wouldn't count the last boss. It's alive in the end credits, plus it might exist in another dimension. Also, you can get flying Pikmin to get the bridge pieces behind the web while standing underwater. Great video 💙

Haven't truly started the video. If I guessed I'd assume the only needed enemies are the day one sheer grubs, the jelly fish holding the first rocks, and the spider trapping the pink onion, and the main bosses
So glad they added the ability to hold the throw button to machine gun the Pikmin

@@NameCoyote In Deluxe, when you are locked onto a target you can hold the throw button and it will keep throwing Pikmin instead of having to keep pressing the button. If this was in previous versions or games, then I was just slow to notice this was a feature.

This is the opposite of how I play the game... I kill every enemy on sight because even a single Pikmin death bothers me (and yet I've never managed a no death run).

No no no! Don't leave the required kills, you got to get stronger getting passed them, so definitely make more Pikmin out of their corpses.
before even watching this i can say this is impossible, even within the opening 5 minutes to the game you are required to kill a female sheargrub, then a medusal slurker, then the arachnode to name a few off the top of my head, not even including bosses which means you can add another 6 to the total counter,

Something neat that I sort of just found out by seeing if I could be lazy, with the maestro near the dirt wall to break down, you can actually attack the wall without bothering them. (Oh I am saying this on pikmin 3 deluxe though)

for the number of deaths i would probably say 11 or 10 deaths, even though the phosbat killed itself it still counts as a death but not really.

I mean do any of the regular enemies in formidable oak actual enemies count? When they die, they turn into the substance that the plasm wraith has, so they may not count…..? Idk

I seen people say that the long legs don't die because they have no soul or corpse but if you think about it the fruit it drops is it's soul and corpse and the long legs turns into nothing (aka dies) if you take the fruit out
well... you need 3 grubs at the start, the monster holding the first rock pikmin, 6 bosses, 100 scornets that die after the meistro, the spider holding the pink onion, all the fosbats in the cave when the lightbulb turns on... so 111+ however many fosbats are in the main cave unless you need more fruit or can't get some item around a specific enemy... lets see how I did

Yes I think everyone realizes that after I explain it in the video
I used the Olimar in water method and at a certain point while doing the entire level with Pikmin, it went over an upper wall and still got him. Then after the AI seemed to keep doing it.
I know this is old, but you can skip the horrible bridge part if you grab bombs and go to the cave shortcut from the front skipping most enemies in the oak. Great video you've earned a sub.
I think you should just be able to throw a captain over to the other side as well. I never thought of that strategy though, nice.
@@NameCoyote yeah although I love the formidable oak (unpopular opinion, I know lol) I wish it used three captain gameplay more. It feels more like 2 where you just switch between two with little verticality.

Note: The plaza wrath does not die because whenever you defeat it it doesn’t really die as you can tell from the ending of pigment three if you look at the left top of the screen but not all the way you’ll see it’s alive

prediction is 22, minimum 11 as ik about the gloopy guy for rock onion and all the bosses and begining sheergrubs and there is probably at least 1 more enemy, also i thought about this recently but didn't try as i knew you couldn't beat the game without killing enemies i never thought about how many tho

I did this, but I excluded Dwarf Bulborbs that stay with Bulborbs, because DBs are Bread Bugs and they steal food from normal Bulborbs. So, lone ones very close to Bulborbs or following Bulborbs get to die for their crimes
You can see the plasm wraith after beating it in the ending so it’s not dead.
Surprised myself when I figured out it was 11 after the 3 deaths at alphs crash site. Before that I guess around 10 than I started to do all the required ones I knew in my head and ended with 11 even tho the Plasma Wrath doesn’t die but it still counts

I got a challenge, what is the bear minimum amount of Pikmin needed to get the best ending for Pikmin 3?
Even if this video is a few months old I'm gonna make my guess anyway because we like to see our older videos still being relevant.
I'm gonna guess without thinking that there will be 9-12 deaths during this run, not counting Pikmin since they're just an invasive species.

Pikmin aren’t invasive, they live on every part of that planet as we see Pikmin on every continent before/when we arrive their
@@FireFoxie1345 Not entirely correct. While Pikmin as a species is native to every continent, the specific colors are only native to one at a time. That's like saying a flamingo is native to every continent just because it's a bird.
@@AkumaMasurao The yellow pikmin aren’t native to the second area. I can agree to that, but why would there be electric gates in the area if nothing can attack or destroy it?

i'm at 3:05, if i had to guess after those sheargrubs you only have to kill the 6 Bosses, The Armored Mawdad, Vehemoth Phosbat, Sandbelching Meeerslug, Scornet Maestro, Quaggled Mireclops and Plasm Wraith, and the Medusal Slurker who guards the rock pikmin, and the Arachnode who has the Wing Onion trapped, leaving just 11 Enemies Killed, and the Plasm Wraith doesn't even technically die, so only 10....+ the 100 scornets who drop dead without their eader i just rememebred, so really 110, or 111

This isn’t technically an actual “guess” but after the first five deaths, I think there is five others you need to kill, 4 bosses ( I don’t count the final boss) and the spider that you need to kill to get the wing pikmin.

I'm at the 3:00 and I would say that aside from the first 3 Female Sheargrub, The enemies holding the rock pikmin and the pink onion and the 6 bosses (I'll count the last one out since the last cutscene shows it's not dead) it would max at 10, but then I remenbered that the boss at Twlight river has 100 assistents, so 110, and THEN I remenbered that the Vehemoth Phosbat sumons a bunch of babies taht you kill by turning the light bulbs on..... Yeah 110+, I would say around 135 depending on RNG
Edit: Okay i just finished the edition and I saw you counted the Hornets and the baby hosbats deats as "not my falt"....... dirty trick you did there, here's my like. (ó-ó)b

Right, technically you can’t turn on the big light if you want the piklopedia to say you didn’t kill any phosbats. But it’s pretty difficult for them not to get caught in the cross fire.
@@NameCoyote I just built to the big light without turning on any other lights meant the boss never activated the first time so it didn't attack after building itnfullh it permeantly was confused and killed it easy

Name Coyote The kill count is actually 10 because the Plasm Wraith doesn't die, if you look carefully you'll see that it retreats back into the Formidable Oak and is seen raging at you for taking Olimar in the ending cutscene.

True, wings are really good against it. But I didn’t have barely any wings. What you see in that fight is basically my entire squad lol.
On Ultra Spicy you'd be using 50 wingeds, with Spray it would work well
The shortcut strategy is better in deluxe! Lock on to those bag things and spam charge the wing pikmin until the bag is down.

I guess 11 because there are 6 bosses you must kill and during the beginning you need to kill 3 creatures. You also might accidentally kill some scornets during the battle and assuming you wouldn't kill very many I chose 2
My prediction: It depens if you're going to count the scornets the scornet maestro is going to murder but:
With the scornets: 120
Without: 35? (Because of having to attack some of the scornets to get to the maestro)
you can avoid the baby phosbat deaths by only using 24 bridge peices and throwing britany
I think it’s not related to the bridge but there is a way to do it
10. because the first three, that weird jelly thing, area 1's centipede boss, area 2 boss, area 3 boss, spider and area 4 boss and area 1 land boss. You don't actually kill the golden thing, it's in the ending cutscene. (the edit was the number change)

I did the entirety of pikmin 3 deluxe (because I dont have a WiiU) without killing anything with a soul (phosbats have no soul) or letting pikmin die
