Michael is one of my favorite guitarists and has been since I first bought UFO's "Phenomenon" album in 1974. I was disappointed when he left UFO in 1979. Of course his solo albums were great. He's still an amazing guitarist.
What a gentleman and wise soul! My admiration for his music for these many decades were not given to someone who was unworthy but now I know my instincts were correct in my respect I felt for this man.
Michael Schenker holding Phenomenon. That album never left my turntable. I woodshedded hard on Michaels craft. The most melodic rocker out there. Fantastic experience having him as a teacher. An 18 year old teaching us all how to play. It was mind bending at the time. And it holds up today.
Man he is just so stoked that he has fans. And never let it go to his head. And he's still so excited to be playing guitar. I see people like this and it makes me pick up my guitar and play. And play what I want, not what I think people will like. What makes me feel good.
I love his playing, always has a great tone and his style is unique, he has the feel, speed when he needs it, blues influence and some classical sounding licks, to top it off he's a really great, honest guy
I need to meet Michael. He influenceld me way back in 75 -76. God, I love UFO and Michael so much. Thats my dream Michael. I need to meet you. I now have palsy in my right arm and cant play the songs I grew up with very well. I miss it and am inspired by your playing to this day. We have (had with my injury) had us. You are my inspiration and have been for like 30 + years. Maybe 40. Love you you Brother! Keep on keepin on.!
What a legend you are Michael, what an inspiration for all guitarists! A guitar God and a down to heart human being, so many triumphs and fails, a true rockstar life 🤘🤘
Love that he acknowledges Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page ... makes him even hotter that he knows the legends as he himself is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MS you r beautiful !!!!
In terms of Michael's earlier hard rock material, "Force It" is his finest work. That album is probably the most underrated 1970's hard rock albums of all time. His work on that album is absolutely impeccable. I still get chills listening to it 45 years later...
@Tank MacNamara Yes, "Early metal" is the best way to describe it. "Metal" used as a title for a genre of music didn't really come into being until the 80's. "Acid Rock" was a popular term we used in the 70's. The first time "Heavy Metal" was used was for the title of a compilation album for various artists in 1974 which included the Eagles and Delaney & Bonnie so it's use there meant something else.
@@headbangerslifestyle8763 I think you're so right and for me I changed UFO and the direction of the band...his guitar playing in his last 2 albums Obsession and live album Strangers In The Night, his playing in the live album is unmatched in Rock history..took his guitar playing to higher plane .and only he can play that style ..one of my top 3 guitarist EVER ...he bought back the the Flying V Guitar into fashion.. .. an absolute genius in my eyes
What a Great Guy... :Sometimes I’ve been disappointed when you listen to your hero’s being interviewed. After listening to Michael on this interview I have so much more respect :-)
Gary Barden is my favorite singer for MSG. I was blessed to see Herman Rarebell on drums mit Michael before he passed.. Audgesichtnet fur der wunderkindt.
UFO hit the airwaves at the right time. Had been listening to DEEP PURPLE LED ZEPPLIN ALICE COOPER SABBATH and all of sudden this British hard rock group UFO got everybody's attention. I remember an album review for FORCE IT (My personal favorite) where a lady journalist said that MS made the guitar notes growl zing turn. your head around bending and twisting. That critic got it exactly right Aside from a strong songlist Michael's riffs and solos are great stuff I never heard before or since. He's a true artist.
What an interesting way to do an interview! Michael seemed to really enjoy it too, like Steve Vai - it's great to have interests to complement rock'n'roll. Lilo has a smile to fill a room with goodness - beautiful.

Hello ! This is a nice channel ! Good job on the interview . As a American of German decent it's nice to here the stories of German rock Gods . Very humble down to earth . With amazing talent he is .
When he talks about the Rolling Stones he probably means Mick Taylor who left the group in 1974, and not Brian Jones who died in 1969. When Brian died Michael was 14 years old.
Of course No Doubt Lilo is HOT but her style and personality in which she displays herself is just as beautiful and Michael Schenker is such a wonderful and gracious and humble human being. I've been happy and I've been sad being rich and being broke, kind of says it all doesn't it! Great interview. I think this is the best one I've seen with Michael Schenker, interesting and insightful, who always comes across as a very open, deep thinking guy. Great guitarist too , of course!
I like the vibe he's giving off since moving to Brighton. I find it strange that he thinks he was supposed to replace Brian Jones in the Stones (it was Mick Taylor) & that he doesn't know who T-Bone Walkier is. Interesting guy though.
Michael Schenker is confused... Brian Jones died in 1969... his reference to auditioning for The Rolling Stones would have been after Mick Taylor left the band in 1974...
