Thank you, Sir! Since I built this, I've built another version which I still have. I'm currently working on the design of my next version with even more power 😁

Clean green and mean with virtually free fuel... Told ya you'd love it, and you've done a fantastic job! Why would anyone prefer to spend their life in traffic jams instead? Ebikes have a future.
Nifty! Try "counter-steering" at speed, like a motorbike . Push forward on the left handlebar to lean and turn left. If you are as fast as traffic, "own" your lane by riding near the center line so cars don't think the space is theirs.
You can build and sell them in the UK. As long as you give specific instructions that it can't be used on the roads. The legal limit in the UK is 15.5mph, 36v and 250w
I think you've done fantastic work brother. Always remember this about critics... there's never been a monument built for one. Only for those who try. succeed or even fail. But never for one who is just critical of others. I feel this is all you need to remember. I look forward to your future projects bro. Best of luck with them too...
If you attach weights to the front forks the front end will stay more stable at higher speeds. Either that or a few weights evenly spaced inside the front rim (on the black part). The reason motorcycles are so stable is because of how much weight they have. Adding more weight a precise locations will go a long way in making it a more stable and smoother ride. Another option would be to get a steering dampener like they sell for motorcycles which will stabilize the handlebars quite a bit. Not sure if they make them for bicycles or not. Also, if there's any way you can modify the seat post so that the seat sits a few inches lower that will make a big difference. The lower your center of gravity the better. Great project mate. I'm loving how it's coming along.
I've been riding superbikes for over 30 years so I think I've got the grasp of it now :-) Adding weight isn't an option - I have to carry it up 2 flights of stair and it already weighs 42kg. As for the seat....... it's as low as it can go, it's actually touching the cross-bar. Any lower and my testicles will be rattling off the back wheel :D
separator94 you can also increase the front fork angle as well as lowering the seat hieght . Super capacitor s would work great for storing regenerate braking energy because they're able to take in higher input current than batteries
Aaron Humphrey Very true. Great ideas. I really need to start myself a similar project. I used to do BMX when I was younger. I'm interested to see if I could put a small set-up on a BMX style bike. Just something to be able to get me up to 20-25mph.
I think these electric bikes are the way to go. I like the speed your getting and the look is excellent. The head lights fit the bike, your hitting everything right on the money. Youve got to be seen since you do not have the mass going down the street like a car. Looks good
@@stormzycoinlife661 it's the only way to corner a motorbike at speed. The only way. People think its a special technique but the reality is you do it subconsciously.

Love it - absolute madness. Dare I just add one nugget of advice: get yourself out of the gutter. When travelling at speeds close to, or faster than, the surrounding car traffic, place yourself in the lane so that the drivers don't think they can just squeeze past. Make them work and wait for an opportunity to overtake. Use your lane positioning as advice to the traffic: "OK, I'm moving back to the left now, so you can safely overtake". Sorry, I'm an old motorcycle instructor. Enjoy the madness!
It's possible for sure. How much money are you willing to spend? 96v lithium battery or higher voltage required. minimum of 8kw hub drive for sure, custom bldc controller because of 96volts DC. Probably no gears or 3 at most. weight of the bike... probably 60kg~80kg rough estimate.
Comments were disabled on the first one lol! You, sir, are a certifiable madman and all the better for it. I used to run round on an old GPO bike with a BSA 28cc(?) engine powered wheel, The only thing your bike lacks is the ability to make petrol station clerks give you evils when you put a capful of oil and then pump 70p worth of unleaded into the back wheel... :D
As you use heavier wheels and higher speeds then the gyroscopic properties of the wheels become more prominent and you should learn about counter steering for your own safety and interest.
Kenneth Ord I know all about counter-steering. I've been a superbike rider for over 30 years. I was tying to explain to people what it feels like to have a larger mass wheel on an e-bike. I've been asked the question of "how does it handle with motorbike wheels" countless times and I tried to explain without going into technicalities....... I failed again :-)
The Wind Breezes - You say "nothing to do with gyroscope properties" and then you contradict yourself with "manipulated by torque only". As torque is applied to any spinning body the angular momentum vector moves to align itself with the torque vector. Lots of people don't understand this, but this exactly explains gyroscopic precession (which Wikipedia defines as "movement of the axis of a spinning body around another axis due to a torque"). A not-so-easy-to-understand-but-basic example is this: a forward spinning motorcycle wheel has an angular momentum vector pointing to the left. When you apply a clockwise torque through the handlebars by applying pressure to the left bar end, then the resulting torque vector is pointing directly downwards towards the road (both defined by the right-hand-rule). The wheel's angular momentum vector moves towards the torque vector - from pointing directly left it rotates downwards towards the road- and that means that the wheel leans to the left putting you in a left-hand turn. Again... apply pressure to the left bar end and the bike turns left - Countersteering. All spinning objects experience gyroscopic effects like this but for lightweight objects or at slow speeds don't notice them and other forces tend to swamp the effect. Fortunately the same movement of the bars in countersteering have a helpful effect at slow speed to move the bikes CoG for turning. As for your example of a bike built to counter gyroscopic effects then, yes I've seen those, but the key point is that they're lightweight compared to motorcycle wheels and not travelling anything like as fast and, though the wheel are acting like gyroscopes, their influence on the machine handling is tiny. That's not the case for motorcycles unless you're riding very slowly too. I can't be bothered to work out the torque required to twist wheels of different masses and angular velocities, but you can get an idea by taking a bicycle wheel and spinning it as quickly as you can, and you'll find that you can twist it with your hands fairly easily against the precession- you're body weight added to that will overcome the precession without a problem. If you tried the same experiment with a motorbike wheel spinning as if it were going at, say, 30 mph, then you'd be thrown across the room or have your wrists broken. What I'm saying is that on a bicycle the precession isn't enough to affect handling, but on a motorbike it certainly is and you must rely on it to shift the bike weight and CoG for turning when at speed. I doesn't matter if you understand this or not, and it's the explanation I was given and studied during my physics courses at university where I got my engineering degree, you'll still be safe on the road if you follow the instructors advice.

I know this bike down to every nut & bolt now so yeah, I think I might know something about bikes. Thanks for being here and thanks for the comment :-)
You should take a cycle safety course that covers counter-steering. The short version is that you can make the bike turn any time you want by forcing a lean.
There are two ways to generate turning force on a bicycle or motorcycle. At low speeds you can turn the handlebars in the direction of the turn and use slip angle related forces to turn just like a car or little red pull wagon. Past parking lot speeds you use camber thrust to turn the two wheeler. If you roll a cone across a table it will turn in a circle. Even part of a cone will turn in a circle, e.g. Styrofoam coffee cup. A motorcycle wheel is bigger in the center than on either side. When it is leaned over the tire cross section is conical and generates a camber thrust turning force. You can lean a motorcycle to get it on the edge of the tires. Or, and I'm sure a million motorcyclists shouted this out around 5:30, you can countersteer to get the motorcycle to lean. And yes, it works on bicycles as Wilbur and Orville Wright discussed in print.
Why use a heavy expensive battery on the bike that only take 1000 + charges, when you could use a super capacitors that can be used over 1 million + times? And they only take 30 seconds to charge up fully compared to 6-8 hrs for a slow expensive lithium battery, Just wondering?
Shaun Sim you would get to the end of the block, real fast....then the supercaps would be discharged, they have very limited storage, or amp/hrs....but a #@$# load of instant amps.
Love it! "#1 don't have the patience #2. I dont have the patience. #3. I cant afford it." 🤣🤣🤣 what did i say #2 was again? Oh yeah I dontt have the patience." Much love from the U.S.
After watching so so many videos about hub motors, I just gave up trying to understand how to pair the best battery with the most effective hub motor for my weight and speed preference, on a bike that would accommodate the new wheel.. In the end, I've decided on a blisteringly powerful Bafang mid drive strapped to an already perfect bike... I no longer have to think about stuff like BMS or what cables I need to plug in from the back of the controller etc, plus mid drives make use of the multiple gears your bike has..
if you can send me a guidet list what i need to build a bike like this this winter. i have a ver nice bike, but no eletric..now its time to change that..i love the new wheels..
If you want to turn really well at higher speeds ..., you press forward with your palm on The Handlebar gently, but firmly and it will make the bike lean in that direction . So you won't have to hang your arse off the seat at all. Takes some getting used to,. but try it. I didn't believe it at first until I started riding that way. So it's completely backwards then just riding your bike at low speeds
Keep the videos coming and keep them real like they are. Born in England but moved to Canada long ago. As you work the bugs out and gain reliability and are able to benchmark performance, range and charge times keep uploading videos. Curious what something like this cost you to build and what it would likely retail for in a store. In many congested cities people may have cars but don't take to work or live in apartments and this is easy to bring inside unlike a motorbike.
Something with this amount of power would cost in the region of £8,000 in the shops. Mine cost in the region of £2,000. I'm currently working on V3 now with more than double the power (around 40kw) and double the range. Keep watching my friend, it's gonna be worth it :-)
I live in China and the Ebike market here is massive. Basically everybodys got one to commute around Beijing and they are super fun and easy to drive - no license required! Really wish I had the knowledge to build my own though, because while the bikes here are cheap the build quality is garbage, they are definitely made just to burn around on for a year or two before heading to the scrap heap. I have a 72v ebike that can apparently do 80kph top speed, only ever got 70khp out of it though, wish I had somthing like yours since its faster and more agile in traffic.
Hi, as for going around corners,I know it sounds daft but as you turn left try pushing the lift handle bar it will help to lay the bike over same when you turn to the right as you go into the bend press slightly on the right handle bar. All good motor biker do this and trust me it works.

Mr Robinson (who is a good person and always speaks in acceptable terms) is welcome to voice his opinion in a constructive and none argumentative manner - the same for everyone else. Asking him if he's on drugs is *NOT* constructive, nor is it acceptable!
My moral regard does not extend to people who insinuate that others may be taking drugs!
How much did this cost you and when can you make me one
It’s Alive!! Here comes Vortecks run for the hills. Run for your lives. Only god can save us now!....nice brakes.
You passing that other cyclist cracked me right up lol, beautiful machine you created.
Well..... it just had to be done! :-)
Eh ???
I think you'll find created also has the meaning of built, please let's not argue over synonyms.....SIGH lol
Vortecks how much did this thing cost ya man?
As a retired engineer you are my hero. My Chinese electric goes 20mph and scares me sometimes. Stay safe you mad scientist!
V3 is almost finished after 6 months of hard work. If you thought V2 was fast......... 😁

You sir, are a british institution. Your spirit of fun and adventure, coupled with your obvious knowledge through years of Tinkering / Learning / Perfecting, make your exploits nothing short of wonderful! You have the sense of adventure that most have simply lost. Long may you continue! Best regards from ( An Englishman in ) Texas! Eddie
Wow, Cheers Eddie 😁
It's all about tenacity and the need to learn. I've finished V3 now and I'm enjoying that one even more - it goes faster and further and stops better, a true credit to me (from what people have said).
I've always wanted to live in Texas (Austin in particular) but I'm too old now.
Keep smiling, Sir and thanks for the superb comment!
Tony
I like to stay at the very edge of what's possible and current. Thus far I'd say you're the reigning king. I've seen a couple of bikes that people threw a shit ton of money at and went completely wild with overkill on the components but for the all around concept planning and critical thought that you've put into arriving where you're at, I'd take your bike over any other one seen. I'm developing a boosting powerplant and self recharge system that I hope will be something special but what you've done is fantastic!
Thank you, Sir!
Since I built this, I've built another version which I still have. I'm currently working on the design of my next version with even more power 😁
@@Vortecks what would you say has been the thing that you've hit on that has yielded you the most net performance??my focus over the past few months has been boosting voltage and machinist use of specific current levels. Other than buying a monster motor I couldn't afford, what would say makes the biggest difference?
Clean green and mean with virtually free fuel... Told ya you'd love it, and you've done a fantastic job!
Why would anyone prefer to spend their life in traffic jams instead?
Ebikes have a future.
Absolutely, Andy. It's the future!
Nifty! Try "counter-steering" at speed, like a motorbike . Push forward on the left handlebar to lean and turn left. If you are as fast as traffic, "own" your lane by riding near the center line so cars don't think the space is theirs.
Why are you not trying to go into mass production. I like the hole design.
He wouldn't be able to sell these in the UK as the legal speed limit on an e-bike is 15.5 MPH.
You can build and sell them in the UK. As long as you give specific instructions that it can't be used on the roads.
The legal limit in the UK is 15.5mph, 36v and 250w
so thats a maybee i will when iv ironed all the kinks out then, put me down for 1st batch :)
Sell them in the U.S.A. , we don't have no stinking speed limit on e-bikes and Americans like going BALLS to the wall FAST ! 👍👍
Problem with that is the whole bike frame would have to be changed and they have invented something called MOTORBIKES
I think you've done fantastic work brother. Always remember this about critics... there's never been a monument built for one. Only for those who try. succeed or even fail. But never for one who is just critical of others.
I feel this is all you need to remember. I look forward to your future projects bro. Best of luck with them too...
Thank you, Sir 😊
I think I may use that in one of my future videos because I still get a lot of hate mail.
I've been riding superbikes for over 30 years so I think I've got the grasp of it now :-)
Adding weight isn't an option - I have to carry it up 2 flights of stair and it already weighs 42kg. As for the seat....... it's as low as it can go, it's actually touching the cross-bar. Any lower and my testicles will be rattling off the back wheel :D
Vortecks Oh Nice! Didn't mean any offence. Was just coming from an engineering background. Cheers on the bike mate.
separator94 you can also increase the front fork angle as well as lowering the seat hieght .
Just something to be able to get me up to 20-25mph.
separator94 a steering damper perhaps?
I think these electric bikes are the way to go. I like the speed your getting and the look is excellent.
The head lights fit the bike, your hitting everything right on the money. Youve got to be seen since you do not have the mass going down the street like a car.
Looks good
Thank you!
I'm now working on V3 with more power and more range 😁
Do a search on 'counter steering"
That's how to steer a motorbike, from what you say it sounds like it might help you.
djathers yes, few people understand this, you have to push the right side to take a right hand turn
@@stormzycoinlife661 it's the only way to corner a motorbike at speed. The only way. People think its a special technique but the reality is you do it subconsciously.
Honestly you should know how to do that before you ride a bicycle through busy streets.
Brilliant, mate! I want one! Just think, here you are building amazing things and there are people out there who don’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re”. Keep up the good work.
I'm glad there are people in this world who have a good sense of grammar and punctuation, it makes me happy 😊
I want one.. Loved the way you flew past that cyclist at the end.. :D
It just had to be done :-)
@@Vortecks Do u charge it? And how many mileage does it have? And what motor did u use and battery?
Love it - absolute madness. Dare I just add one nugget of advice: get yourself out of the gutter. When travelling at speeds close to, or faster than, the surrounding car traffic, place yourself in the lane so that the drivers don't think they can just squeeze past. Make them work and wait for an opportunity to overtake. Use your lane positioning as advice to the traffic: "OK, I'm moving back to the left now, so you can safely overtake". Sorry, I'm an old motorcycle instructor. Enjoy the madness!
Setting speed cameras off with it is so funny
This is not even electric bicycle anymore but mostly some type of electric "motorbike"! Love this, Amazing :D
damn fella you got some serious bike building skills
Thank you 😁👍
That thing's a monster! I get the giggles passing cyclists at 35mph on my Bafang 750 so this thing must be like riding a weapon. Amazing build. KUDOS.
Thank you Sir. It is fun and it's certainly fast!
I want to see a bike that can burnout, do wheelies, and get a 3 digit top speed. I am on board at that point.
I've been working on boosting the volts and redoing my scooter. I was thrilled when I hit 35mph overvolting 48 to 60. I'm enveyous
Sweet build, I don't have the knowledge or parts, but it would be useful to me with a heart condition and no car.
And if that's confusing look up videos on angular momentum and applied torque and the alignment of their vectors.
Countersteering is noticeable on normal bicycles. Nothing to do with this.
Kenneth Ord
I know all about counter-steering. I've been a superbike rider for over 30 years. I was tying to explain to people what it feels like to have a larger mass wheel on an e-bike. I've been asked the question of "how does it handle with motorbike wheels" countless times and I tried to explain without going into technicalities....... I failed again :-)
The Wind Breezes
- You say "nothing to do with gyroscope properties" and then you contradict yourself with "manipulated by torque only".

- Wrong, see my other reply.
That bike looks like a lot of fun! Now I want to build one.
So..... go and build one. Hopefully, this will inspire you more th-cam.com/play/PL3Rqaj8tXgrgCSo811vduJJEgnh5ZcjUV.html
Where did you get your Bosch stickers 36v 250 watt 🙏🏻 I need some
Please add links of where you got them!
Lmao, all you need is sticker numbers and letters
What a contrast, you sat on that nice quiet bridge with grass poking through the pavement and the ridiculous traffic on the motorway below!
Damn right it's going to be fun. I would spend most of the time on the backwheel with that power.
Proving once again that an Englishman in his shed is indefatigable. Well done my friend keep it up
An Englishman with a shed is.......dangerous 🤣
That's a wild Englishman.👍
Absolute knockout mate. I'm inspired, appreciate the veiw of the M6 to remind me how many bloody hours stuck at Jct 10 trying to get home to W-ton when I lived there. I live on the continent now and even trying to get into the city on my 400cc trail bike is becoming a pain. So I've come investigating e-bikes and came across your channel. You can always rely on a Midlander to look at something clean green and gentle and say "I bet I could mek this goo barmy"
Absolutely mate. Us Midlanders know how to make something safe into something ridiculous :-)
Loving them tyre's Tony and the whole build in general thats some machine you have created.
would like to see you take it back to Halfords and show them what there bike used to look like.
The trouble is, the bike part of Halfords is upstairs but..... there is a lift.
I might do that one day :-)
Vortecks that'd make a cool vid. Hopefully they'll let you film ;)
Lmao
I live rather rurally in Colorado. Your bike appeals to me for the power it has. I'm going to build one. Thank you for the inspiration.
I've watched your first video and admire you for your ingenuity, creativity and endeavour to push the envelope of electrically powered bikes.
If it wasn't for people like yourself youtube would be very boring, I wish you every success with your next incarnation of your e bike. Please keep doing what your doing. just lovin it and more power to you!
The best comment of the week! Thank you 😁
Yes Yes... I like it!!!
Just found this to watch and thought name rang a bell. Watched all your quadcopter, wing videos. Maybe v3 should have a wing👍
It is good, no it's excellent, it's exciting.... I myself has made several e cycles but with kits basically from China.. those are good but the speed is 20 km/ hr. And the kit is 24 volt 250 watt. Now I am modifing it to run on 36 volt. Already done the experiment and it runs at nearly 35-40 km/ hr.... Hope to see more excellent vedioes from you
An idea..... What about you use a gopro hero black 5 and then use the dashware program to pull out the GPS data (also has g force etc)!!! I use it for skiing works a treat!
Neville Wood gopro is evil
They pretended the cube with round corners and are filling lawsuits against companies which sell cheaper superior products
This is like when apple patented the rectangle with round edges but worse
You should see our roads in Tampa bay you can’t tell Rush hour from any hour now. I just bought an Ebike ready made I don’t have time to build my first I waited to long hunting season is in weeks. I love it ! 75o watt 48 v 14 amp battery but 4 inch tires It goes 30 mph it’s all alloy for $1400. I’m not sure if I need any more then that. 25 is really fast on a bike frame.
Love that laugh as you blow past the cyclist made me lol
You remind me of my science teacher i had at college in New Zealand. He was barking, in a good way and the classes were exciting, just like your videos. I want one!
Don't want one..... build one! 😊
I had to watch it just to see you having fun :-)
Cheers Dave. It is fun but I have to be in the mood to take it out.
Vortecks sell it me please
What a BEAST Canzo has turned into, it's like Streethawk, Airwolf and Knightrider all rolled into one :O Love it. Great work Tony.
You're the second one to mention Streethawk today :-)
Hey! Top speed consistently? Range on one charge?
Motorcycle trick for you to try. It is counter intuitive but it acts on the gyroscopic effect of the wheel: gently pull the handle bars the opposite way to which you think you need to and the bike will drop in to a corner. It sounds mad but it really helps. Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
Stop going on the wrong side of the road lol
don't UK drivers drive on the roads differently then US drivers? I know this and I'm a freaking American.

I love that mischievous 'evil' little chuckle at the end when you passed that cyclist . ... Insane ? Nah . You know your gear and you're pretty switched on ,no pun intended, with what you're doing so go for it all guns blazing ....yeeeha
Well, all I can say is..... keep watching, I'm documenting the V3 build with double the power 😁
How long on a full charge
And here I thought Andy was the only Mad Pom with a crazy electric bike!
Nope, there's loads of us mate 😂
I love zipping past other bike's on my e bike gives me a good laf o and I do watch Andy's chanel as he got me into e bikes
Some of the ebikes i like racing round here and all i use is pedal power lol
Same here and hope fully this year ill be build a eletric bike trailer pusher with anything up to 21 gears on all powered by a 24 volt 500 watt eletric motor
Fancy a race Tony ? lol
even some of the illegal ones. i get someone getting a laugh at passing ebikes on a regular bike, but passing regular bikes on an ebike.. i mean, all you did was push the button lol. on a regular bike you dont get mad every time a motor bike passes you lol.
I laugh at e bikes as the ride pass as I can see their fat flabby asses getting bigger by the day
Tow Maider id zip right past your electric bike on my electric scooter haha
Andy Kirby is a Legend. Much respected!
Do you think it could take on a Tesla with initial pulling away? (maybe the first 3 seconds)
I haven't had anything beat me off the lights yet. Even a BMW M3 couldn't keep up until 30mph and then, he disappeared.
Pay em no mind, chap. They're just jealous. No, MORE than jealous... envious. We're jealous over what we CAN have. But we're envious over what we CAN'T have. Just do you. But hey, every once in awhile mention how fast you're going.
come on hit it 100%.
All in good time. I still have a bit of testing to do before I fully open her up :-)
Never been a one for ebikes but after watching your video i want one now.
They're fun, loads of fun :-)
11:15 Time for you to enter the Tour De France methinx.
Your brilliant mate watch all of your videos What's cells are you using may I ask and how many ?
Love last seconds of video ;D Poor bicyclist :D
Why poor?
:D
Because the cyclist is a cyclist and this is not a cyclist

I know this bike down to every nut & bolt now so yeah, I think I might know something about bikes.
Thanks for being here and thanks for the comment :-)
In china, people have been known to convert their e bikes to run at 120KMH!! True fact!
@@TotalWarriorLegends lol seriously.
In China they are able to convert a baby trolley for 75 mph / 120 kmph. They are insane
You should take a cycle safety course that covers counter-steering.
The short version is that you can make the bike turn any time you want by forcing a lean.
Insane build mate!
Thank you :-)
that wide angle makes it look like all the cars on the motorway come to a standstill at the end XD
fucking awesome
Shaun Sim Energy density of super capacitors isn't large enough.
Shaun Sim you would get to the end of the block, real fast....then the supercaps would be discharged, they have very limited storage, or amp/hrs....but a #@$# load of instant amps.
They would be good for regenerative breaking.
Shaun Sim keep on,u were saying
Shaun,
Because he wants a bigger range than 500 yards.
There is nothing better than blazing past a roadie on my 8" travel , 1000w ebike :D
Love it! "#1 don't have the patience #2. I dont have the patience. #3. I cant afford it." 🤣🤣🤣 what did i say #2 was again? Oh yeah I dontt have the patience." Much love from the U.S.
What sort of range / runtime do you get and can it be charged from a solar panel setup like a 250watt folding solar setup ?? Love the bike
I no longer have to think about stuff like BMS or what cables I need to plug in from the back of the controller etc, plus mid drives make use of the multiple gears your bike has..
can i ask you how much this cost to build.. sorry for my bad english..;) i love your videos!! wow!!! love it.. make more..
if you can send me a guidet list what i need to build a bike like this this winter. i have a ver nice bike, but no eletric..now its time to change that..i love the new wheels..
At this point you've just built an electric motorbike, and it's great!
Uuunbelivaable 😂 lol
Hi, as for going around corners,I know it sounds daft but as you turn left try pushing the lift handle bar it will help to lay the bike over same when you turn to the right as you go into the bend
press slightly on the right handle bar. All good motor biker do this and trust me it works.
You Vortecks are a winner, much respect.
Thank you Sir 👍
As far as I can see your pretty smart, that bike is unreal.I have to get one. Thank you

I wonder if you could give me a bit of advice,I’ve got a 36v 1000w viron scooter and I want to be able to charge the battery pack while it’s out of the scooter,do I need to get a spare control box or can I just make a wire with the necessary plugs at each end ( it’s three 12v batteries and the charger is 36v-1.5a) any help would be greatly appreciated
