This song and Michael Brecker were created for each other. He does such a masterful slow build to the end of his solo where he plays his only-Michael-can-do-this lines. Pat is one of the few musicians who could have followed him without listeners thinking that the song is essentially over.
I seen this band ( i was 21 yrsold then ) just the day before ( or earlier ) in Saarbrucken , 1 sept 1981 , aula der Uni , it is one of the best concert I ever seen . Many years spent , and 3 of them passed away , but i remember everything .
i first met this band at 10000 meters on a flight across the pacific, on headphones. Well done Garuda airlines. You changed my life.Bought a sax, saw them many times and am still HIGH.
every day I thank these musicians for making life beautiful...
Thanks Rick Beato for the Metheny interview that led me here.

This one's been hiding away from me!!
@Rick Perlstein
Hiding from me too! This is awesome 😎
Dewey playing the under-sax part. Only in the live version. Sounds amazing.
listen and weep❤️
wow ❤️ it..all the times
Love it💞💞
Pat can be one of the saddest dudes in the world.
A few years later Brecker plays his solo much better, using similar patterns, but every note is exactly on his place!
Perhaps more in tune with the brevity of life...
Great live version
Thanks!
