Hey guys, I don't wanna keep repeating so be SURE TO READ THE INFO BOX! All the info is there, I made a special google doc with the links to almost ALL the materials and products I use, if something is missing, please leave a comment here so I can update the list! Hope you enjoy the premiere! There will be a few things that I didn't answer in this video mainly because it didn't apply, some of things off the top of my head people asked for was working with clear resin, this kit doesn't have it so raincheck for next time, another thing a couple of people asked was regarding tips for carpal tunnel and/or wrist paint management when holding an airbrush, I don't have that issue so I wouldn't know how to help you 😬
I just use a pistol grip airbrush... I have several makes from good manufacturer.... I'd advise people with hand issue to get either Grex Tr3, Procon Wa, Gaalhari GHAD-68 or Fendga BD116c... most of which have a mac valve so you can control how fine the paint/air is.
I think an approach that you can take is to (if you can) show How you hold your tools, how you move your Arm (rather than Just moving your wrist), if you do or don't lean on your elbows/forearms and if you use some kind of padding on your desk (you can pinch your nerves that way if you lean on them too much, as I've had to learn, 😔) I remember you showed a bit of that in your air brush tutorial, with how the tool sits on your hand (how hard ppl grip their tools Also plays into straining/tiring their hands)...that stuff, 😅 *Luckily I don't have carpal tunnel either but I Did, unfortunately, injure my radial & ulna nerves...on both hands. So holding a pencil/brush is... sometimes, a struggle* Thank you for this video Leona and thank you for your comedy, ❤
You know Leona's a true tsundere when you come back to the vids time and time again for both the amazing art and because you also enjoy being insulted just a little bit ♥
This video has been so helpful! I've watched a lot of tutorials and I believe this is the first time I noticed someone say to clear coat after you finish the skin. I thought I was doing something wrong because my skin was getting scratches! Also seeing the preshading on the hair was super helpful.
Every time I watch one of your videos i have to chant "I don't need a new hobby, I don't need a new hobby". But like, who knows, I cosplay so any of these techniques might come in handy for something in the future! Plus I love your humor and watching your hard work to make these kits!! They're very nice to watch/listen to while I do other crafting! ❤❤
I stopped watching after the episode where Kamina died 😭 And returned only after a couple of months. Thank you for your work and videos. They are wonderful ❤️
This video got me thinking...yeah, it's fun watching and hearing your explain all your steps and why you do what you do...and I adore the process and the ending result..but goodness...I think I find myself coming here just to hear your commentary XD You had me dying with tears in my eye...and you kept me chuckling thru out the video...all because people can't read or Look for the description box right under the video. You doing what your doing Leona! Your so fricken awesome :D
Just an fyi anyone having issues with paint just remember we all live in different climates and situation's. When it comes to paint specifically you have to test out as many paints as you can. Because your results will be different then leona's results everything else should still apply. Happy painting y'all also i absolutely love your videos and the style it always brings me back.
I am a blighted green with envy over your sanding tools. Truly the mark of a seasoned professional, aside from your incredible skills, is that set of tools. The longer I keep at it the more I recognize that the time sink I wish to avoid spending the time in is the hell that is sanding.
I truly appreciate these in depth tutorials. Your videos are chock full of knowledge already, but these tutorials get into the nitty gritty, and I love it!
I just wanna say I love how long and detailed your videos are! They're so informative, and I love how you link to other in depth videos for things like putty, it's fun to listen to late at night!
Fiona, I love your attention to finished detailing. It's refreshing to see someone dedicated in their hobbies to make a well polished final product. :)
I greatly appreciate the time you took to make this video. Sometimes I need to be explained to like a child with plenty of visuals. I don't know if I'll ever be able to indulge into this hobby, but if I finally get the chance, this video and all your others will be a god send. The bleeding comment! The panties! Oh so sadly true. Oh now I have to talk about Kamina? This is the anime that truly got me into loving anime as much as I do. A friend told me he was showing me "manime" and I was hooked. Then Kamina died. And I died a little inside. But as we all know, if you can get to episode 8 you'll surely finish the show. We stan and miss Kamina in this household
Always enjoy watching your videos, you're an amazing artist and your kits turn out beautiful. But above that you always make me chuckle with your sassy attitude, keep it going resin queen!
Hey Leona, i know it's frustrating to explain the process but I'd actually like to say thank you gor this as a video like this really helps people who struggle to learn in other mediums like reading
I have no intention of building one of these myself, but I like watching you persevere through the ups and downs of creation as I work in my own art endeavors :D Let's all keep going together
I really appreciate you showing how to highlight and shade with colors besides black, or a darker shade of the base color. So many models I see are done this way and it sucks the life right out of the model! I learned this in college in my painting class but was able to use it to give chalk pastel and colored pencil drawings more depth as well. It almost feels like a lost skill, which I find disheartening. (I have the same Faber Castell chalk pastels and they're well pigmented and smooth without having a huge price tag) I also liked learning the trick for the satin look stockings. That one simple detail adds so much to the model! Yoko has that tomboyish personality, but the pink satin stockings give her just a touch of girlish charm. You definitely need a way to charge a "stupid question tax" to comments from people who don't listen. 😂
about to start my first kit after painting warhammer for a while, its fascinating that theyre so similar and yet theres so many differences in the process. thanks for all your help!
To this day, I still don’t understand why people STILL aren’t reading the video description for all your meticulously put together info. Like it’s just sitting right there, and you mention it every single video. For shame!! 😑 Half joking aside, wonderful job on the figure! What a blast from the past! And I loved the more detailed video (and past videos) on how you do things! It really makes me feel more confident that I could do this myself. 🥺💕
I've always wondered how you assembled the kits after painting, if you glued them together or not, but I never gathered enough courage to ask, so thank you!
I love your sense of humor, the sarcasm is strong in you and I love it. However, I will cry with you for humanity because those who are *still* asking what the 'Forbidden Yellow Mustard' is, are doing it to troll at this point. Now I will finish watching the video, stay the way you are, you are amazing.
This is amazing detail and information to have! I’m kicking myself for not even thinking of sealing between colors to eliminate scratches!!! Keep up the fantastic work resin Queen!

Instead of sanding to remove very minor imperfections found during priming or painting like subtle mold lines I've had success applying gloss varnish over the area.
You inspired me to start this hobby, so thank you for all the hard work and beautiful kits you've painted. Also, a question, since I didn't find it in the materials list. What's the UV gel you used to coat the eyes?
That Pause with the yellow putty comment had me dying 😂😂😂 ngl I am so surprised how you still have some faith in humainity after all the comments asking about it xD Also great Video!
I've been following you and your videos for years, and I've even become a Patreon. I am not into these figures myself, but I love watching you and others work on them. I just have one more question: What's that yellow stuff? 😇
Thank you for the guide it has helped me immensely! Should I wash my parts to get sanding dust off, even after applying the primer? Or will the primer react poorly with water. Thank you in advance-
I know you mentioned that you have different bushes for different materials, but what do you use to keep your brushes from being garbage sticks when you use liquid masking or are they silicone brushes?
The rotary tool she's using is a discontinued model, the "DREMEL® Micro (8050-35)." I’ve tested several alternatives, including the Proxxon MicroMot 60/EF and the Dremel Lite 7760, but ultimately settled on the: WORX 8V WX106 with a drill chuck. By the way, the new Dremel version is significantly worse than both of these in every category, from handling to power.
Speaking of paying for content I still have the digital and dvd version of Cooper Anime Garage Kit guide where the camera man just goes 'i'm out of space so we're ending it here' I was flabbergassed this was sold and recommended at the time for people looking to work with garage kits. Clearly no one watched the whole product.
Hola!
I now feel prepared to tackle my first garage kit! 💪 If I may ask, how long on average does it take you to fully sand your figures? I realize it must vary a bit based on complexity and you can probably do it much faster than someone like me due to experience, but just a ballpark figure?
Hey Leona, I need advice with a prepainted resin figure I own. I feel like you would probably use the putty for this issue, but since she is prepainted I was wondering if there was something else I could use. My issue with her is her connection to her base. The notch her foot goes into a bigger than her peg, so she doesn't fit snug and because of this she slides forward and leans. Would you know a solution for this? Or would you say putty is the best way to go?
What do you do to get rid of the resin dust after sanding? I've found that only a good scrubbing can get rid of some sanding dust? When you use the light curing putty, how do you see what you are doing in the dark? is it completely dark, semi dark, or something else? Can you use a white layer of paint (or white primer) over the gray primer before you add your color? Kamina T_T up until that point I hadn't known that a main character could actually die, I was waiting like 6 more episodes or something to actually realize that he's not coming back in a weird way... despite the fact hat those types of characters do not appeal to me at all, he actually drilled into my heart lol. Alo, since you've been a Moonie a long time, did you ever have an OC? if so, it'd be awesome to see a kitbash or something of that (I love seeing people bring their OC's to life ^^)
Most of the liquid masking is water based so I just rinse them when I'm done using them, if not I take some windex and soak for a few minutes and it does the trick, the only one I apply with a toothpick or something that's not a brush is the maskol because it's latex and ruins brushes
I’ve been curious about garage kits since I began watching your channel and I do have one question, what does it feel like sanding down the resin parts? Are there certain sensations you should look for telling you that you are sanding properly?
Usually just a few minutes, as soon as it dries. Masking tho I leave it for the next day to prevent any uncured paint from stripping, paint dries fast but doesn't fully cure until after a few hrs
Another cool video by Leonа, very positive and with a sense of humor. Much success to you Leonа and new cool figures. (please, if possible, make a video of a character from MK)
Random person: WHAT'S THAT YELLOW GOO ON THE DOLL??!!!? Poor Leona:*having a mental breakdown and possibly self imploding* Also great work as always! ~
Hey where'd you get the - *I am shot dead* No but truly Leona, I love watching your videos and love the information and the entertainment of every episode. Plus, I love how much of the process you show. There's way too many 10 minute videos that give 30 seconds of what's going on with each step.
It's in the description below the video... if and only if you care to click/press on more! I also believe and have watched the video explaining how to use and where to per-chase said yellow mustard... so rather than annoy everyone with said idiot comment, please look at the catalogue of videos Leona has made for our entertainment!
sorry english is not my main language and i watched the video from my phone have not noticed in the the desciption thx fot the answere @@leonasworkshop
I always wondered if you glued things together or sealed the pastels (It made me anxious to think about it 🤣) I hope people listen this time, in this video you're at your least bit of sanity
I also colour my figurines .they are not that expensive but everything is fine .the problem always lies with silver and gold colour .any recommendation also I am from India so many brands don't ship there
Please don’t murder me with words… I have a really dumb question 😂 What types of paints go onto resin in general? Like would acrylic gouache work in theory or does the binder have to be something specific to adhere to the resin? Just asking out of curiosity, I‘ll stay with aquarelle and colored pencil as I definitely lack the hand-eye-coordination for this hobby 😂
Making sure to prime your kit will allow all paint to have better adhesion to the surface, I've never used gouache but I think as long as you seal in between coats, you should be fine e
Leona I have a few questions about the light sensitive filler. Are there alternatives to that for those of us whom have horrid vision in low light? Or can it be used in minimal light, where it's super dim and still pretty dark?
@@leonasworkshop thank you so much for replying. I haven't gotten into garage kits yet, but I plan on it, and you are a great person to learn from. I love your energy. Some of the things you say make me chuckle.

Hey where'd you get the - *I am shot dead* No but truly Leona, I love watching your videos and love the information and the entertainment of every episode. Plus, I love how much of the process you show. There's way too many 10 minute videos that give 30 seconds of what's going on with each step.
47:05 that was oddly specific.
what is called the yellow stuff she is using anyone have a link to that product please ?
Jesus... you really not only have listening issues, but also problems reading? 😑🤦♀️
I always wondered if you glued things together or sealed the pastels (It made me anxious to think about it 🤣)
I hope people listen this time, in this video you're at your least bit of sanity
How much does something like this sell for?
I also colour my figurines .they are not that expensive but everything is fine .the problem always lies with silver and gold colour .any recommendation also I am from India so many brands don't ship there
im sorry but the puttied chest with the big indents looks so funny to me 💀
Please don’t murder me with words… I have a really dumb question 😂
What types of paints go onto resin in general? Like would acrylic gouache work in theory or does the binder have to be something specific to adhere to the resin?
Just asking out of curiosity, I‘ll stay with aquarelle and colored pencil as I definitely lack the hand-eye-coordination for this hobby 😂
Making sure to prime your kit will allow all paint to have better adhesion to the surface, I've never used gouache but I think as long as you seal in between coats, you should be fine e
Thank you 😊
"What's that yellow paste" t shirts should be a thing
Leona I have a few questions about the light sensitive filler. Are there alternatives to that for those of us whom have horrid vision in low light? Or can it be used in minimal light, where it's super dim and still pretty dark?
As long as you don't apply direct light to it, it won't harden, so yeah, minimal lighting will let you apply it while still seeing what you're doing 😁
@@leonasworkshop thank you so much for replying. I haven't gotten into garage kits yet, but I plan on it, and you are a great person to learn from. I love your energy. Some of the things you say make me chuckle.
There you go, you even got a lesson in color theory for free!
Believe in the Leona that believes in your ability to read the description
