      @@kippaseo8027Not quite true... I've been through both Irma and Ian at ground zero. Lived downtown FM during Ian, with family on Pine Island. During Irma, I was with family close to Sanibel. Check it out. Both had Cat 4 winds. Irma had tons of sideways rain, Ian had the winds and storm surge and stayed in neutral fo way too long. Every storm affects the landfall area differently. Helene was moving fast which was beneficial to that area. She slammed in and kept moving. She pause long enough to strip all the leaves off the trees. Be glad. The winds were indeed at a rock solid category 4. But a fast moving category 4.

      Andrew was a cat 5 with 165mph sustained winds and gusts well over 200mph. Can’t compare these 2 storms. It’s the fact this storm was booking It at 23mph Is why wind damage wasn’t as bad as It should’ve been.

    • @ignatswinston5460
      @ignatswinston5460 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I've been at ground zero with Charley 2004 (150mph), Irma in 2017 (130mph), then with Ian in downtown Ft. Myers (150mph) - with oak trees in front of my home. All three were Category 4 winds. Ian was 15ft surge. The trees lost a limb or two, but, the leaves remained on the trees.
      Other commenters are correct in pointing out that comparing one storm with another simply is not doable. Each has its own unique characteristics. Helene was unusual in both her development and movement speed - and, the intensity of her reach eastward and southward as she moved NNE toward her landfall destination. I've been through many, many hurricanes on both Florida's east coast and west coast - and, each is different. Irma had sidewise rain that blasted into buildings and homes through the sides - not the roofs. Imagine that!

What about the beach people who want to go to the beach and vacation where are they going to stay to visit? I guess not hotels because if everybody moves out then there'll be nobody here to run them.
