I live in Ohio. The best part about that stat is that the study never would have happened if the largest cities hadn't complained about the open carry law.
A couple of cities said that crime was up 5% since the law was passed, so the government ran the numbers across a bunch of big cities.
Crime was indeed up in two of the cities by 5% or less, but it was down in all other large cities in the study by 5-18%.
Oops! Probably shouldn't have brought it up, city folk. You might have been able to quietly pass local ordinances to make life difficult for us hay seeds..

The uproar was that it was counted as a school shooting. Naturally, the town is pissed because it looks like the school is unsafe from the outside when it had literally nothing to do with the school and wasnt even on school property. This is what is baffling. It is perplexing to me that people don't understand why this was done.
Anybody who knows anything about the American electorate is aware that if Democrats drop to below 84% of the black vote then things become very difficult for them when it comes to national elections. Once they've drop to around 81 to 80% of the black vote then winning a national election is highly and I mean highly unlikely. Once they drop below to around 78% then they can never win a national election going forward ever again unless the demographics change completely. Kind of like if you imported 8 million new voters out of nowhere once you realize that you were bleeding millions of votes out of every single demographic.
This is the reason why the enhanced welfare state was created and why the nuclear black family was destroyed. They must keep them dependent upon the system so they can control their vote. Then they show up every 4 years and start using emotional manipulation in the form of fear regards to racism in order to ensure they do not step out of line.
Now everybody wondered Why Donald Trump went from being beloved by Hollywood, beloved by the Democrat Party and the Democrat establishment as a whole and most importantly not only beloved by the black community but idolized by them and then all of a sudden became portrayed as an enemy of them as well as being a white supremacist and a threat. You can get on social media via TH-cam and what is now X and previously Twitter and you can go through the media coverage in 2013 and 2014 and very early 2015 in regards to the coverage and treatment of Trump. Donald Trump was often a guest on the view and was absolutely beloved by the women and treated wonderfully. Those women as well as people like Oprah and other prominent celebrities try to push Donald Trump to run for president and told them if he did they would endorse him. This was when they thought he'd run as a Democrat because Donald Trump had primarily been a Democrat not all of his life but much of it. However the divisiveness and radicalization of the left drove him to not only run but run as a Republican. This is the reason why the narrative of Donald Trump was created. The Democrat plantation could not, would not and will not allow their slaves to be taken from them again. Donald Trump was a threat to siphon off a sizable portion of the black vote back over to the Republican Party where it once started but is not owed.
This is what all of this comes down to maintaining power for the Democrat Party.
However now they have imported a new voting demographic to ensure that they can replace the black vote and create a totalitarian revolution so that their party in one party controls this nation for the foreseeable have century and beyond.
      Wake up America.

    * A 1982 survey of 1,800 male felons in 11 state prisons across the U.S. found:
34% had been “scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim.”
40% had decided not to commit a crime because they “knew or believed that the victim was carrying a gun.”
56% of those interviewed agreed that criminals intentionally avoid armed victims. If criminals know the individual has a weapon, they chose to target another victim.
69% personally knew other criminals who had been “scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim."[228]

In the US, 12.5% of home invasions happen when someone is home. Of those, the victim is injured 26% of the time.
In the UK, over 50% of home invasions happen when someone is home.

You'd be surprised how many multi-million dollar companies I work with where we offer them a new, optimized solution for a process. It could reduce mistakes to almost 0, could save time and money, ext. And so many are like "no we don't want it because this is how we are used to it". They don't want to re-train, or are afraid if they change something, everything will fall apart, or just are afraid of the change all together. Doing it because "it's how we always have"

I only need to point out that most politicians who push gun laws, have no idea what is in the law they wrote. A perfect is example is the lady who posted a Facebook recording of herself cutting off the barrel of an AR-15. Caught federal charges for it and then claimed, in court, she didn't know it was illegal to shorten the length of the barrel. She was one of the many people who pushed for it to be illegal to shorten the barrel.

Someone else may have already pointed this out, but Indiana eliminated the fees for carry permits when we enacted Constitutional Carry a couple of years ago. Our beef was with paying the government a fee in order to exercise a Constitutional right, which is ludicrous on its face. However, I've heard the argument that the fee is necessary in order to fund training for citizens who wish to go armed in public. And this, too, is bullshit. I find no training requirements anywhere in the Second Amendment, and any state that requires training is in violation of the Constitution as well.
For years, many of us paid the state of Indiana $125 for a lifetime permit, which was unique to any state, or I think $60 or so for a four-year permit. When the issue of Constitutional Carry gained momentum and it was apparent that it might pass, one of our arrogant Republican leaders proposed that all permit fees be waived. It was then that we slapped him back by pointing out that it's ridiculous to charge citizens a dime in order to exercise their right to keep and bear arms in public.

We literally have people saying, "Why didn't a good guy with a gun stop this mass shooter?" when the mass shootings happen in gun free zones.
If we're talking about CCW holders, obviously a law abiding citizen is not going to risk breaking the law and losing their CCW to carry a weapon in a gun free zone.
If we're talking about the police, those are literally good guys with guns stopping a bad guy with a gun.
So how can we say, "Why didn't someone with a gun stop the shooter?" when it would be illegal for a CCW holder to do that, and the shooter was literally stopped by a good guy with a gun via law enforcement.
Of course, the law enforcement usually doesn't show up until several minutes after the shooting starts while a person who is already there in the situation is there instantaneously.
We know that deaths and injuries are more dependent on effective counter response rather than what weapon is used, but weapons and law-abiding gun owners take the blame anyway for the actions of deranged lunatics.

    • @Jaime7188

What most CCW holders don't know is it is NOT illegal to conceal carry in a posted "gun free" zone. I carry in posted gun free zones all the time. I even concealed carried my .380 on an ankle holster when I worked at a inner city hospital in Las Vegas. Businesses and places that post gun free signs, it is only a policy, not a law. The only places it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon is government buildings like courthouses, police stations, post offices, an school grounds (unless given written permission by the school superintendent). You even can bring a gun into an airport if it is locked up, unloaded, and you declare you have one.

What needs to be understood is that the disarmament advocates are using a two pronged approach. On the regulatory side, they are being careful to forward 'common sense' infringements that _are not supposed to affect 'gun crime'._ This is so more infringements can be 'required', since the last ones obviously didn't go far enough. The second part of the metric is to conflate criminal activity with the tool used; demonizing the firearm, not the person holding it. Thus, lying about statistics helps; and they apply this lever very generously.

Between the wait for the FOID, at which point you can buy a firearm, wait for your 72 hour background check, then practice to get competent, then find a carry class, wait for a class to open, take the class, then send away for your carry card. Then you wait up to 3-4 months (depending on whether or not you paid for fingerprints) to get your reply on a carry card.
Realistically, you can be looking at a year before you MIGHT be able to carry.

$150.00 CCL fee paid to IL State Police
$200.00 for CCL training (typical, costs varies by training vendor).
+ cost of 30 rounds of ammo for the CCL skills qualification test
Note that some training vendors will let you borrow or rent a weapon to use for the CCL skills qualification, in case you don't already have a weapon. So, it's possible to earn an IL CCL without actually owning a firearm.
You likely have additional costs for additional ammo, targets, and range time to use to practice BEFORE taking the CCL skills qualification test. Note that the IL CCL skills qualification test is EXTREMELY (shockingly) easy to pass. You shoot 10 rounds each at a range of 5 / 7 / 10 yards (30 rounds total) at a full-sized silhouette target (B-27), and only 70% need to hit ANYWHERE within the silhouette. So, you shouldn't need a lot of practice to pass the skills qualification test.
So, the estimate of $400 cited in the video was fairly close.
This cost is ON TOP OF the cost of an actual weapon/holster/ammo that you intend to concealed carry,
so this CCL total cost can be a barrier for people in low-income situations.
Note that IL is a "shall issue" state, where the ISP is required to issue the FOID and CCL permit within a certain period of time UNLESS there is a specific reason not to issue it.

In Massachusetts, it averages about $200.00 to get your LTC, $100.00 to the police dept, and $100.00 for the safety course, when I train people I always make sure to go over safety first, I’m baffled as to how many people took the course, and know absolutely nothing about how their gun works, or how to use it safely, I won’t even take ammo out until I’m sure they have absorbed what I’ve taught them

Way to get the word out! I have drawn up questions in my mind concerning the whole background check system because of how often we hear about a “mass shooting” occurring because someone with mental health issues was so easily able to acquire a firearm. I learned a lot from this episode and will be doing my part in spreading this knowledge you’ve shared with us. Thank you for the education, and keep fighting the good fight my brothers.

According to anti-gun folks here in the US, Europe NEVER has mass shootings. They're also quick to point out that "crime is so low" in European countries that even the police don't carry guns (is that really true?). I saw a similar claim from a Canadian just yesterday about Canada, using the exact same exaggerated stats Lott talked about in this video as part of the argument.
For the record, the anti-gun leftists I've spoken with also tend to deny that there are ANY sort of mass murders happening in Europe (guns, knives, vehicles, bombs, etc), which brings up the question - if that's true, why are there efforts going on right now to ban certain types of knives in the UK?

    • @buy_large_mansions
      @buy_large_mansions 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@dawnt6791 in fairness crime is much lower in Europe largely because we don't have places like South Chicago, Memphis, Baltimore, New Orleans, etc. but those places are like that for reasons that have nothing to do with the second amendment.
Mass killings are a separate thing to general violent crime, Japan has extremely low violent crime rates but has had several mass killings in the last 20 years or so. None of these involved a gun but were done by arson and in one case in 2016 a knife where 19 were killed and 13 seriously injured, which proves that mass killings could happen with or without guns.

WOW! This was very enlightening. I didn't think that the typical background check, which was typically a few dollars, was being exploited by governmental thieves in charging prices like $125 for each item in a single transaction. Obviously I've lived a charmed life and never ventured into situations that were both true blue and too blue - but I repeat myself. You mention the cost on a 5 or 6 hundred dollar gun but think of what it is on a cheap gun. On a Hi Point C9 YCG1 it's more than a 50% effective tax rate! How is this not a violation of the 8th Amendment's admonition to excessive fines or the functional equivalent of a poll tax? I'm thinking we need someone in one of these jurisdictions with excessive fees to file a lawsuit. Count me in. My guess is one of the good gun rights groups will also back and maybe even the NRA if they want to get back in our good graces.

Thanks for bring on Dr. Lott, and for the expertise you also bring to the table. Concealed carry permits, in the absence of 50-state and all US territories’ Constitutional Carry should not cost the permit applicant a dime, including the cost of finger prints and background checks. In most places, the finger prints are collected on electronic scanners pared to the background computers. Taking finger prints the old way with ink is a dying art and I could understand why the departments would want to charge $30 bucks or so. I had my prints scanned at a commercial business for a job I had applied for and the employer had a contract with and I can say that the clerk who scanned them was not a professional and the scanner still captured enough readable prints to determine that I did not have a criminal record. And I’m sure the prospective employer paid more than $30 for a session.

There was a "mass shooting" in Sacramento that was national news for a bit. What it actually was, was a gang shooting with a couple people that got hit in the crossfire. One of the people involved was released early from jail because he earned credits of some kind which because he was a "non violent offender". His "non violent" offense was assaulting his then girl friend and dragging her out by her hair to the front lawn.
