The words you choose are powerful. If you press too hard, it is unlikely to damage the tissue...just be painful.

I have a pair of steel exercise balls used often in TCM. I do the same as you demonstrate using but using one ball rolling it around rather than scraping and rubbing. Any small, firm ball works. A handball is good

Pickle jar lids and small wrenches work great for doing Gua Sha.

What would you call this technique? I want to look into it more for other body parts can you do this on any muscles? I was trying around my wrist felt super weird lol my thumb feels a better though when I did the pad on my palm. The bottom of the wrist feels weird doing it though.

Can you do this on the web of the thumb where the ucl ligament is? Its very pain there so I haven't done it just yet. I know you shouldn't press hard near boney areas either but its really tender in there I think if I go lightly it might help. I know if I press and hold near the ucl it burns I think I got some nasty little trigger points there too. I mean from what I can see the ligament is there and over top of that a muscle is there I think the muscle is the problem. I already was in a splint for 6 week so its a very old injury not new.
