Hell in the Monogatari universe is based on the underworld of Buddhist mythology, better known as naraka, and which is described by certain sources as something similar to a pot of boiling water, which is why there are so many references to being drowned (both in the opening and the episode), with the shallowest part of the water being the most benevolent, and the deepest part, closest to the fire, being known as Avici, where the worst sinners burn for practically all eternity.

I just think it's funny that Buddhist mythology won't say you're in hell for all eternity, it's just limited to several quintillion years.

If you do go straight into off and monster season I recommend you look up the opening (or openings in the future) that was released with the blu-ray for the first arc, as the broadcast version didn’t have an op for it.

The thing that you were thinking about is the Divine Comedy, our "Dante's Hell" but the one describe here is not a representation of christian hell , but the buddhist hell, that it is also divided. If it was Dante's hell, araragi would probably not be in the deepest level, as the last layer is for "traitor", araragi would probably fall into the 6th circle, the one for "heresy".

Yeah. Avici hell is in both Hinduism and Buddhism, though in this case it's referring to the lowest layer of Naraka, the hell realm of Buddhism.

I dont think its worth to wait for another year or so before the blurays come out. I would recommend looking up the anime only opening of the first Off Season arc when its time for Off Season.

actually the first 3 episode bluray Vol.1 of Monster Season arc has been release. mean he didn't need to wait a year for full episode.

You know the funny thing is that even the TV version of Off/Monster season which released right after the WEB version (Crunchyroll) already had a ton of changes/corrections in the later half. You really do appreciate SHAFT's dedication when it comes to this despite always falling behind schedules. The true Monogatari experience is watching both broadcast and Blu-ray versions.

22:25 Yeah, my honest thought is that Senjo more or less got a crush on Kaiki. And Kaiki ended up playing along when he found out about the crab thing and felt bad about her situation. In his arc we found out that he has more or less some of Araragi personality, he is a con artists, but as a specialist he actually quite capable, so he tryed to help but shit got worse because of his methods. So, he probably thought that it was better for Senjou to make her think that everything was his fault. I mean, I think any decent person would feel horrible if they found out about a child problem and do nothing to help. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night after something like that.
Some of the comments Kaiki made about Senjou that you found weird, I took it as Kaki actually respecting and in some way admiring how strong she became. Believing that her way of living is quite impressive after everything that happened to her.

I'd honestly wait for the blu-rays. The first two are already out, and they came with a lot of revisions. The next two will probably have even more.

I recommend wait for Bluray since Monster Season story happen during Araragi in college.
It doesn't correlate much with the thing that happen in past arc. soo its okay if you delay watching it.

Buddhism does have concepts of "heaven" and "hell". They're obviously different from the Christican concepts though. They're temporary (though can still last a very long time) and ultimately you're reincarnated. There are also multiple of each. Mayoi Hell might be my favorite arc in the series. Both in terms of visuals and content. Owari Season 2 in general is concise while having an incredible number of highs in terms of quality. I wasn't the biggest fan of Shinobu Mail from Owari Season 1 and it kind of brings down that season imo. If they put together the other Owari Season 1 arcs with Owari Season 2 that would basically be perfect.

Do what you want with the Off and Monster season, I have no preference either way. There's another problem, though: the episodes are out of order with the novels. Wazamonogatari comes before Nademonogatari, so going by novel order you should watch episodes 1, 6.5, 7, 8, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
Of course, another issue is that Shaft skipped a novel and a number of arcs from Off season that should fit in between these episodes, but who knows when they will cone out.

I think you should directly go for the off & monster season instead of waiting for Blu-ray

1- I had a big disappointment with this arc, it was really weak compared to the novel, it was one of the weakest adaptations of the entire work.
2- This arc confirmed some theories I had about Hitagi and Kaiki, and the fact that she being with Koyomi is purely for her convenience. What Hitagi does after the first meeting with Kaiki (Karen Bee) is completely immoral towards Koyomi.
---To explain, it would require a long text, but I'll summarize the most important points: basically, she's only with Koyomi for self-protection, and Mayoi confirms that if it weren't for Koyomi, it would be Kaiki as her self-protection. Kaiki was the one who took care of the cult man, which is why he informed Hitagi that he was no longer alive. Remember that Hitagi had a condition for Koyomi to go with her? That's where the problem lies-if Kaiki hadn't said anything, Hitagi wouldn't have asked for anything special. But since Kaiki mentioned their relationship, she basically used her own body to make Koyomi forget what happened. For this reason, she left that "condition" for after the meeting, which is normally something that would be said beforehand.
