Oh damn man, I didn't think you'd make a review for this list. It's definitely one of my favourites and actually the first list I ever played and the best Requiem list I have tried. So happy you made a video for it, definitely one of the best lists out there.
I've never played Skyrim in third person before, but everything else about this modlist looks so good that I'm considering trying it. Thanks for this excellent overview, never would have looked at DNGG otherwise.

Requiem and valhalla combat? didn't know that was possible. I wonder if I could tweak this to make it first person friendly w/o breaking the list. Great video once again!
Welcome to the world of Do Not Go Gentle. It is and has been my favorite Requiem list. I believe Wildlander and Lalaland are both good Requiem mod list as well, but each author and team of these list have a different vision for how they envision gameplay within the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Do Not Go Gentle is good because it is well balanced, easy for fresh players who have not ever played a Requiem list to get adjusted to it and learn what it is without getting totally crushed. Do Not Go Gentle is a well curated list and I like it even more because of the team’s efforts to integrate Beyond Skyrim: Bruma, Wyrmstooth, and Vigilant quest mods into the list while still maintaining the integration of the Requiem features into these expansions. Wildlander is good for its unique approaches to providing how you craft. Whether that be Alchemy, Cooking, Farming, or Smithing there are specially built components included in the Wildlander list that provide a very role-playing model for you to use and enjoy. No one else does what Dillion the mod author for Wildlander and his team do in terms of providing deep role-playing add-ins that are unique to that mod list. LalaLand is a more traditional Requiem list with the core components and some graphical enhancements as it is built using the AVO mod list as its base foundation for visual look and feel. There are many great content authors providing lots of videos available to watch using this list to show how easy it is to create a new character and determine a role up front and then run with it to see how far you can go before you die. For those that are not familiar with Requiem one of the best tutorials is provided by a content author that goes by the name of Greed. If you want to have a better understanding of how Requiem changes everything and how you must think differently about your game play, I will highly recommend that you search and find his video on TH-cam about Requiem for beginners. Regardless of which mod list you choose, and I have played all three that I mentioned here Do Not Go Gentle is my standard for playing a Requiem list. I love the visuals, the stability of the list, and the excellent choice of combat plus quest expansions included. I always watch every video that Dropped Ice Cream creates, and I love his approach to a standardized structure for how he covers these lists. They are always well planned and executed, and he always invests a good number of hours into playing the list before creating them so he understands what the list may or may not bring to the game play for the rest of us.
In my biased and very spicy opinion, Wildlander adds a ton of tedium to the game that often takes away from the experience instead of adding, it's for people who think clicking menus and menial tasks taking longer for no gameplay benefit add to immersion. Lalaland is fantastic, but only for requiem veterans, noobies won't appreciate the 3bftweaks changes and will likely get destroyed if they didn't play base requiem before.
Thank you for the review and comparison. I recently beat Wildlander and i'm looking for another modlist. I'd like one with something like 3bftweaks because Wildlander gets easy in the late game and grinding for levels is boring. I'm going to try dngg but i also downloaded lalaland.
@@steel5897 The first Requiem list I played was Arkay's and I loved the tweaks. Set the standard for the flow of a Skyrim playthrough for me. It was hard -- but not too bad -- and that's what made it fun. Noobies definitely can appreciate 3bft. Reading the mod pages, I could very easily see the differences and appreciate them.
They removed MCO from this list, which in my (not sure if unpopular) opinion improved the combat and balance of the list immensely. This doesn't mean combat is now vanilla, he tweaked existing mods and added some to keep the "high commitment" combat and the list is still 3rd person focused with all the new animations, but now 3rd person is not mandatory anymore, which is another plus. My favorite Requiem list by far. Wildlander has too much survival and AC/LLL are too "no fun allowed" with their hyper balance and insane levels of challenge. So yeah, DNGG is the best.
Indeed thanks for the update!! I was already looking how to disable the forced 3rd person camera. Now i can safely continue to watch the video while this awsome guy hypes me up!
I gotta ask, did you ever pick up Katana? I completed most, if not all of her questline and experienced freezes at very regular intervals after that. Was just curious if I should steer clear LOL
@@peachciroc4 I only used her for a few hours. Her questline is active, but I didn't talk with her about it so far. I chose Remi as spouse and the Katana questline seemed to me like a romance thing, too. I have 1 crash per 10 hours on average. But I noticed it being a bit more frequent with multiple followers for some reason.
@@martinsch I'll have to keep that in mind, the freezing stopped after reloading an earlier save prior to fighting Katana's old lover or whoever that was lmao. Sucks because freezes don't generate logs so I had no way of finding out what was going on. Thanks for the input though!
@@peachciroc4 Ah, I see. I had 1 or 2 actual freezes in my save, so I didn't encounter that issue. Sounds like some form of save game corruption. But Skyrim is also known to have certain items that can cause crashes and freezes while they are in your or an NPC's inventory. Maybe the enemy dropped some unique item that was bugged or something like that.
Hi DIC, i love your commentary and showcase. Which modlist is the most fun for you? i've played septimus for now but wanted to try another one and compare them. Also, do you think these kind of playlists ran well with 16gb ram? Thank you
Thank you! I could be wrong but I think lists that add more NPC's and make cities more dense would be taxing for 16gb, likely causing stutters when loading in new areas. Maybe something like TPF: Dragon's Edition or Fable Lore would be good for you
Thank you for reviewing this one Ice! I'll have to wait for my new SSD to arrive before I can play this one myself since I've been warned that my current SSD is slowly dying on me unfortunately lol. What arlams me a little bit is the plans to merge this modlist with AVO for the visuals. I always like it when a modlist tries to be it's own and think the visuals are a huge part of what gives a modlist it's character. I also wasn't the biggest fan of AVO when it initially released but I haven't tested the new version yet so maybe it's better looking now and if all fails I just can't update I guess 😋
I promise I am still adding my own flair to it. DNGG was already a fork of AVO. Now it will just be reforked with the extra good stuff AVO added recently.
Why is it all these "realistic" mods and the games themselves make it look like two handed weapons weigh 15kg when swinging them around? In reality you would be swinging two handed weapons faster than one handed ones as you are using both arms to swing and two handed weapons usually only about 30%-50% heavier.
Hi friend, great channel and videos! I recently bought myself a new rig (4090 etc) and am looking to mod skyrim for that next gen ultra look, and add to combat etc, without changing the main story, since I've never played it before. All these modlists look gorgeous (for Skyrim's engine). But I don't get the obsession with turning Skyrim into DarkSouls. There's a million more modern, polished, and nuanced games out there in the Soulslike genre, and Skyrim is never going to be on par with those in the ways that matter. Why can't Skyrim just be Skyrim? Make it prettier, add more content, improve QoL, sure; but if I want to play Dark Souls I'll just, you know, go play Dark Souls.
why does every combat mod makes the game look so goofy. I mean they are bashing their heads like goats even equiped with a two handed weapon they are like kissing their souls. Its ridicilous.
