We slam boxers for not taking challenges then blame for poor match making when they lose. Boxing fans need to accept it’s a sport to win and lose. If you want a boxer to cherry pick to get respect. It’s hype not fight. Respect to joe and zhang. We need to see more of this.

I actually like it when guys make excuses. Athletes are such a weird group because they can be mentally fierce but very personally fragile and sometimes being brats in defeat allows them to come back. It's like those times during Tiger Woods' peak, when he would not win, and blame the wind. All the guys, including the winner, would most likely be playing in the same wind, but Tiger would feel better pretending the wind was against *him* personally. Only thing is that u can't both be a brat and keep losing, coz then you're obviously not channeling that aggression. And I obv mean making excuses within reason. Unfounded stacked gloves claims don't count

Even after Joyce got wobbled I still thought he was gonna come back to win it just because his gas tank is elite. Very smart performance from Zhang though, dropping his work rate after the 2nd round to preserve energy and make every punch count, he couldn’t miss all night. I’m a fan

And for those that have never seen Zhang fight there's a reason that the top guys have avoided him for so long. Credit to Joyce for having the balls to take this huge challenge as the others didn't want any part of Zhang.

No the biggest problem is Joe Joyce is not a heavyweight anyone wants to pay to see. I've never seen a heavyweight paw at his opponent round after round. Especially with a body like Joyce has. He should be bullying guys instead of taking shots hoping to tire them out.

Joe's ego was his biggest problem. How do u have a guy waiting to fight u and ur busy scrutinizing what happening with Edward and Anthony? And what did he mean he hadn't sparred a southpaw? I hope that was just 'just been hit in head' confusion and he meant he hadn't had a fight with one in a while. But yeah, he fell for his own hype and the whole Juggernaut deal and forgot that Zhang was also up there in age and eager to prove something

He is already 3-0 as a pro after only turning pro a couple of months ago. They can keep up this pace and keep building him he could be nearing 30-0 in 5 years time before he even reaches world level. Fighting at World Level in his early 20s. Similar to Haney's career path. Brilliant skills for a heavyweight I am excited to watch his career.

Joyce starts so slow and Zhang starts very well, he seems to put 100% into his shots early on, very clever cluster fighter. Joyce really struggled against that southpaw stance as he did against uysk in the amateurs, that fight is on TH-cam.

I didn't rate Zhang until 3 fights ago. Up until that point I have seen him by chance on some stadium and he looked really bad. Then I saw him with some american and then Hrgovic and he looked much better. It was the first time someone stood up to Hrgovic and was pushing him back - and that was in very hot weather.
In hindsight it is quite clear to see he is a good fighter - you don't reach Olympic game trials let alone qualify and win silver if you are not. Just as Franklin is a champion in the states - most of the guys in the top 30 are solid just not so well known. You would not call the top 5 competitors in any sport elite and everyone else pretty much a bum - as in boxing.
What surprised me was just how little Joyce moved his head. It never looked coordinated or smooth but he boxed better 10 years ago. Not saying it would change the fight but at least maybe get a couple more round hoping Zhang would tire

Lennox Lewis vs Vitaly Klitchko. Vitaly was winning the rounds and got an iron chin, but guess what he got cut, and doctor stopped the fight.
Wilder got his ear busted that can happen no matter how strong your chin is.

It didn't look like Joyce knew how to fight against a Southpaw. He was eating that left straight all night like it was a jab.
Otherwise, Zhang vs Wilder could be an interesting fight. AJ's fought Usyk twice in a row, so I assume he's learned enough to avoid just eating those big left straights early in the fight.
But Wilder's defense is still pretty questionable, he's been stopped twice by big guys and Zhang also seems like a potential target for the right hand.

Watched heaps of people saying Zhang was too ancient at 39. In the heavyweight division age matters far less than the lighter weight divisions, as the latter relies more on movement, and combination punching, which naturally is lost during aging. Guys like Foreman, '' Being a freak though'' just relied on accuracy and power and won that world title at 46 years of age. That takes a lot longer to lose. Zhang weighs 280 pound and does not look out of shape at all. I don't think Zhang missed one of those huge left crosses.
